See this all the time online. Bruno fans slating Pogba, Pogba fans slating Bruno. Why? It makes no sense and is a very new trend. I don’t remember Cole vs Yorke or Keane vs Scholes. Who cares? Why does it matter? We’re all United fans, I don’t understand why we have these [insert player] FC factions within our fam base. I see it with Rashford & Martial fans too.

Anyone else getting annoyed by this? Either support the club or don’t, not just certain players.

Almost everyone slaughter Pogba bar his fans so this isn't the case.

I like both and once they are both actually match fit think they can both work together.

If we had competent attacking fullbacks and a right winger we would see more of their strengths as well.

This forum is obsessed with "fans" thing. Defend Pogba from unfair criticism, then you are his fanboy. Point Bruno isn't KDB regen then you are against him.

Both are quality player but they are leaving a lot to be desired out of their performance. Pogba has recovered from Coronavirus and has next no match fitness. He should be nowhere near first team right now

Our fans love a good comparison between our players. We aren't allowed to have more than one or two good players so it always has to turn into one player from the team versus another. Martial vs Rashford is another one that happens often. If we sign Sancho you can guarantee it won't be long before we see a Greenwood vs Sancho thread.

It's always been the case that people have their favourite player and favour them over others even when they aren't as good.

Ronaldo/Rooney was a great example. There were 2 sides there too.

There were many who thought Rooney was a better talent when they were kids and continued to argue he was a better player than Ronaldo years later.

Then there were others who were right.

pogba has been a liability this season so far. annoys me when people say we need to keep changing things to 'get the best out of him'.

bruno hasn't been much better in say the last ten premiership games, has been easily crowded out, but had moments of quality today that won us the game and that is a big difference there

Both players are equally criticised (when they deserve it of course) by many posters on here. Don’t think it’s anything to do with one group of fans vs another.

People are tribal. Look at the Ole Out vs. Ole In feud, the Martial FC feud. There's little room for nuance these days.

I feel like Bruno has been positioned as the hero to Pogba’s villain arc, mostly by the media.

either way I think they were both poor today. Pogba seems to be further behind in terms of fitness though.

This is a vital point. Pogba needs more time to get back to his best. I'm delighted to have both of these guys at United. I don't see why we need to denigrate one to praise the other.

I rarely see that to be fair, they defend Paul once his name is brought up negatively.

Always have said it why compare them? But as always people rarely use their own thoughts and seem never to realize they are using media specs. The media compared them from the get go and now you have the Fernandes comparison nonsense.

Boatload of nonsense. We changed nothing, Paul played in his best position for 6 games in his entire time with us so what are you on about.

In reality Bruno was pretty much everything we expected from Pogba when we signed him. Bruno was the player we thought Pogba is. Main man in the attack, creative, goalscorer, set piece taker, and has an output even when he is crap in a match. We thought Pogba would be all of these when we signed him. That's just the problem.

Its hyperbolic posts like these that really set the tone for these factional conflicts.

In reality, prior to this season, Pogba was clearly the main creative outlet and he did deliver goals and assists. more so than Bruno has, and without playing as advanced.

Yeah, no hate. I desperately want him to succeed; but he’s never shown world class levels consistently to warrant his undroppable status. If any club comes in for him, I hope we sell and buy smartly.

Insane ability, but annoyingly inconsistent. Think it’s best for both the team and the player if he left.

I'm a utd fan and I want what is best for the club but it does feel like some section of the fanbase have decided to hang Pogba out to dry, and they do it by sensationalizing every wrong thing he does, and minimising the good ones. This is what creates hyperfans out of people who ordinarily would be happy to simply support the team.

Now where Bruno comes into the picture is when he is being used as the stick to beat Pogba with.

You saying all these “we’s” like you’re French or something. Out of my face with this nonsense.

Bruno is a good player, but he’s wasteful, and for all the hoopla around his goal contributions, a substantial amount of his assists are simple passes which our front three then go on to score wordies from. I.e Greenwood some days back and Rashford today. Then he stat pads as the pen taker (he still has to convert them sure).

Recency bias is a thing though. It’s easy to forget that not long ago Pogba was leading United for all attacking stats. He was also the catalyst for Ibra to bag and waste as many as he did. Now he’s playing a much more defensive/deeper role than Bruno though.

If you can’t appreciate two quality players and somehow use your expectations to justify digging trenches in these stupid comparisons then it’s your damage, and you’re just a weirdo and it has nothing to do with the players.

A club of United stature shouldn’t be having “main man's” anyway. Should have a squad/team full of quality all around.

He was because he was the only one, but he has always been pretty inconsistent and when he's bad, he's absolutely useless on the pitch. His fanbys never wanted to admit it. When he's great it's all down to him. When he's shite, oh now it's down to the manager holding him back, it's down to the players beside that aren't defending well, it's down to attackers in front that they don't run, it's down to him not playing in his position.

There's no player I have seen in United shirt that has been excused this much for being inconsistent. Of course it got onto people nerves at the end.

And yes, the reality is Bruno is the less unnecessarily show pony, more productive, and has better output when he has off game than Pogba. He has become the main man in United, something that Pogba simply couldn't do except in few patches.

The only reason most Bruno fanboys refuse to criticise him is that that would be an admission that you were wrong about Pogba. Has any player been more inconsistent than Bruno since he came? he plays very poorly and then comes up with an assist or a penalty and you say he is more productive than Pogba. If the comparison is from the period Bruno came then sure, he has been but that is because he plays almost like a second striker while Paul is sitting in a holding position most of the time. How can you use productivity as a fair measure between them? More importantly, why would you feel the need to?

Pogba has only led United in attacking stats during Ole honeymoon period. No before it and not after it. Overall he has been good for United consistently for only few patches, otherwise, hanging between 4/10 and 9/10 performance. Definitely not consistent enough to be our main man.

Pogba is more talented than Bruno, and has more skills to show off and yes Bruno wastes several of his key passed, but also, Bruno is more consistent with his output on the long run, which actually what matters in the end for any top team. Playing on one or 2 great matches followed by invisible performance on the pitch will never win you something. Being able to consistently put on numbers and be productive even when you have an off game has bigger chance to win you something. That's all.

Yes, Pogba is more talented, but talent isn't everything in football.

Because one has made an instant impact without excuses while the other has blackmailed (through his greedy agent) the club and had plans on leaving but Covid 19 put a stop to that.(while playing on some 40% capacity) The better thread would be Rashford and Martial fans. Both have been playing well last season but people want to be divided on this issue.

Why? Because there is direct correlation of Bruno's game going down with Pogba coming back from the injury. We looked like a team before Pogba came back. Even with Pogba back we were still good as Pogba was just getting into form and was accepting complimentary role. As the time went by, you can clearly see that Pogba and Bruno do not work together. Both of them look sorta lost. It doesn't make a lot of sense as they shouldn't be in the same position, but Fred worked better. Had higher work rate in defense than Pogba does. Pogba got clumsy and slow.

Funny though, to see Pogba fan boys coming in force once someone dared to say Bruno is what we all thought Pogba would be when we signed him. Some seem to not want to admit it I believe.

Essentially, you just dislike the player for the bolded reasons and feel that is sufficient grounds for refusing to see any good in him?

Not really a fair comparison. Pogba has barely ever played as far forward as Bruno, and when he did in 2019 he scored a lot of goals & got plenty of assists.

I want both to succeed as long as their wearing our shirt. We should be more United, pardon the pun.

Bizarre. Let's even concede that this is true. Both players are still ours so we should be happy. But to go out of your way to consistently tear Pogba down is what is really funny.

Love both. Love that we have VdB coming in for one of them instead of Lingard, Mata or Pereira.

I didn't tear anyone down. I just said Bruno is the more consistent version of Pogba, and is what we believed Pogba would be. It's really Pogba's fan boys that they can't endure a single bad word said on him and has to react. Always has been the case.

This is not a debate over his position. It's simply pointing out that in the positions they now play, different things are expected of them. Surely you can appreciate that? Or you expect Maguire to be top goal scorer too?

No I just prefer Manchester United to anybody. He is talented and that's about it recently. That doesn't make me a fan boy of Bruno but I see what I see week in week out on the pitch.

At some point should you question whether it has been his best position. It has probably been five years since he has played in some wierd specific left of a midfield 3 for club or country and he has played well in that time for spells
