His good performances are rarely appreciated. But glad he's getting some appreciation tonight. Colossal performance.

Showed up. Glad not to feel like slagging him off.

Excellent today. I feel like he plays better with Henderson.

with DDG he almost has to do 2 jobs, defend his line and win every aerial ball. Now he can just concentrate on doing his job, and he’s done it really well.

made Antonio look like a puppy.

Beast of a performance again. He has been playing well but doesn't get enough credit.

He was superb tonight, majestic performance.
Majestic

Our standards have fallen dramatically. Shows how low this club has gone when we used to have the likes of Rio and Vidic putting in monster performances to now this embarassment of a captain putting in "majestic" performances.

We're going nowhere with him.

He wins everything in the air, he blocks everything which goes through him. So composed on the ball, never panics and very positive in possession. Always available. He's worth every penny and he will be even better when we finally find him a suitable partner and our strikers will start playing something, then everyone will forget about an odd mistake which everyone makes, the same way people forgot about Van Dijk's issues when Salah and Mane fired them to recent success..

Which was odd that he out powered Antonio today.
Well, not always. He had a hell of a battle on his hands. But he and AWB had clearly prepared and been prepared for that and the way they backed each other up in those physical confrontations with Antonio was stellar. He had to make do with a couple of half moments.

I thought he’d a good game tonight. I could warm to him a bit more if he would stop taking an eternity on the ball, but did his defending well tonight.

As a neutral I think he's having a pretty good season and bounced back well from the trauma over the summer which spilled over into first 6 weeks of the season where he was well off it.

Seems hardly an England 11for euros has him in it but think he's a cert, probably alongside Stones just as it was in World cup.

Some posters get a thrill from trashing our own players, even after they put in a fantastic performance. This is the price we must pay for being part of the caf.

Solid but West Ham had no spunk going forward. They didn’t manage a shot in the first half. He was strong when needed but it wasn’t backs to the wall stuff with the hammers coming at us from all angles. It was fairly comfortable. It’s not about trashing players. It’s about looking at what your opponent did and it was a comfortable night

As a consequence we should tamper our view not just react to prove a point to some who moan at him when at times it may be valid. When it’s valid it’s valid but West Ham ham had one real threat and they dealt with Antonio well

My wit's end
Rojo + Bailly + Lindelof bought for a total transfer fee of £83.7m. They've all had problems with injuries and reliability.

Maguire bought for a transfer fee of £78.3m. He's been the epitome of reliability since the day he joined.

For all the criticism Maguire gets for deciding his own transfer fee, he's been a bargain compared to the three previous centrebacks United have bought.

We could have continued paying a cutprice for defenders with potential. But sometimes you have to pay a premium to ensure you're getting a sure thing.

Amazing how he's nearly clocked up a 100 games for us and his second season isn't over yet.
He's not without flaws, but his fitness and reliability is truly special. It's been many, many years since we've had such a consistent presence in the centre of defence.

This man is carrying the most pressure on him week in week out.

Rashford can miss sitter after sitter, Bruno can have a off game, Martial can go hiding all the time but just one good game away from again being world class, greenwood can have a full off season but still is world class talent, Amad is a wonderkid even when he can't demand a start for his two clubs yet, Donny can send two good passes and people see a player in him....but Harry? No, Harry has to have a perfect game week in week out. One mistake and knives are out. He and only he has to show his worth for every penny united paid for him, for every minute he plays.

Really good today. And it's contagious, Lindelof looked pretty solid too.
The Maguire -Lindelof pair always get a lot of shite but they have been solid for some time now.

The season started badly for them with 5 goals conceded in 2 matches, but then there has been steady improvement.
After the first two poor games, they have conceded 15 goals in 19 PL matches together.

Now they have 7 clean sheets in their last 11 PL matches and it has been far better opposition than West Ham and Antonio. Clean sheets vs Liverpool, 2xCity, Chelsea and Arsenal.

No other teams have clean sheets vs City. We have managed that in both our matches against them.

If we can improve our defending of setpieces it will be very hard to score against us.

Another fantastic display. Great to see him get positive reviews from all outlets, as well.

He looks a little awkward on the ball, but is actually really good at playing the ball out of defence. Apart from AWB, I think our backline actually do a good job at circulating the ball in most matches. The problem is when the midfield or AWB gets involved. Fred and McTominay do what they can, but I don't think they are good enough on the ball. They are both very one-footed and lack the calmness when pressured. In addition, I think we often lack movement on our wings and in attack.

Really, really good yesterday! He can be made to look bad in certain situations, but in general he is a good defender, and he showed that yesterday. We have allowed three goals in our last ten games in all competitions, and Harry can certainly claim a huge share of the credit for that.
