Is Anthony Elanga the real deal?

That’s clearly not worst case scenario mate. Welbeck has spent his entire career in the Premier League. “Worst case scenario” would be him playing in League 2 in 3 years like James Wilson, who had far more hype than Elanga.
Yeah, I feel people underestimate how tough it is to be a PL player consistently.

I’m not sure, I think he lacks the technique, I see him progressing into a fullback role.

A poster said you can only be in our squad if you have Greenwood talent is rubbish, we never had this when SAF was around. No team really had this partly because Greenwood is an exceptional talent.

Sometimes you need players like Fred, Mctominay, Fletcher, O’shit, Brown, Hernandez, Welbeck, Lindelof, To come in and do a job.
No need to insult a long serving player who played his part in many trophies won

Just on the troll then and no serious input? Ole seems very happy with him so that's a good sign i'd say.
I love how the joke clearly went over your head and you get all indignant about trolling

Indeed. How someone can rate McTominay and in the same sentence slag off O'Shea is pretty crazy. O'Shea was twice the player McTominday will ever be.

The feck with this disrespect dude. O'Shea may not be a superstar but he has played important roles for our team and score important goals as well, with that last min goal against Liverpool the one top of people's mind.

You don't disrespect a player who nearly played 400 games for us and willing to play in any role to help the team.

Anthony Elanga is the real deal, just like Marcus, Anthony and Mason were…. Until they weren’t and then he’ll probably get abused week in week out and labelled deadwood. :houllier:
Never change Caf, never change.

Elanga really does look like a younger version of Martial! Amazingly skilful!

Hahahaha. Sorry but that is absurd. Yes he was dependable however Mctominay is far more crucial to us and more of a key man than John O’Shea.

To do what exactly? Lose a EL final? Check yourself.

O'Shea was a key squad player in a great United side. McTominday gets dominated by mid-table midfields. I bet you are on the lower side of your 20s at the very best to even argue such nonsense.

So I guess what your saying is Mctominay lost us the the EL Final and John O’Shea won us the league?

I said we need players like O’Shea, no need to go absolutely barmy and claim he’s better than Mctominay who lost us the league, the fa cup, the europa league and the euros.

You say he was dependable and then call him o'shit.

O'Shea came in and filled so many holes and played his heart out for United. RB,LB,GK,Mid Field, you name it, he was always ready.

It's a shame that United has fans like you who can't even say the players' names properly and think it's cool to call him names.

Indeed, not a super star, but a quality and solid squad player, and he had excellent technique, i remember the left foot chip against invincible Arsenal & that Figo nutmeg, should never be disrespected no matter what

Looks like he's put in a lot of work to be ready for the season. Paying dividends. I said before he'd probably make if before some of the other more hyped lads, as he's physically much more suited to adapt to men's football quickly. Who knows where he can go, good signs though.

If you saw him play in academy and reserves, you'd say that he definitely would have a chance to become a first-team player.
Will he make it? Well, it depends on him now, but the talent is defenitely there.
Plus he seems like a very great young man, just judging by his interviews. Loads of energy and excitement. And physically he looks phenomenal now for a 19-year old. Pace is frightening .

He really does have a lot in common with Rashy and young Tony.

Love watching Elanga. Not sure how good he is going to become, but he is hungry and works very hard. This is what I like about him, he does not just ball watch and let the game pass him by, he tries to do something with the ball every time he receives it. Hope he has a lot of game time this season so we can see what we have in him. I would start him over Martial and James without any hesitation at all.

One of the complaints of Martial is that his ‘hunger’ or ‘work rate’ isn’t up to standard. If Elanga has Martial-esque talent combined with the Elanga mentality which has been acknowledged by Ole then its more then probably that there is great development to come from him.

I had to go and look up James Wilson

He began his career with Manchester United, and was at the club's Academy for ten years before he signed his first professional contract at the age of 17. He has also represented England at the under-16, under-19, under-20 and under-21 levels. He scored two goals on his Premier League debut in March 2014, and played 17 first-team game during the 2014–15 campaign, scoring another two goals.

James Antony Wilson (born 1 December 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for EFL League Two club Port Vale.

That is quite sad. Such a fall.

This was what i was saying a few days ago. How many over a three/four year period will transition to world class players. Two at the most. Three if we are doing well. It is just statistics.

The players that dont make it will still make a lot of money though.

I was going to say that " I doubt he is making much at Port Vale" but he has just gone there and his salary is not available. He went from Salford City where he was making: Weekly and Annually.

James Wilson£2,100£109,200

You are correct that is still mighty fine money.

Can't even tell if he'll be a premier league footballer yet, nevermind one for ourselves. There's very few that come along and you instantly know after a handful of games or based on youth appearances. There may be the odd one that is so good that it is relatively clear but it is rare and I am not sure Elanga is in that category.

He has some good qualities that will endear him to the management, though. They say he's humble and works hard which is a prerequisite. He has pace and ability, an eye for goal, these are qualities we look for in the current setup. He's got a chance.

I googled tyler blackett and it said he had a net worth of between 1 and 2 million. Not sure how accurate it is, but it would not surprize me if he has 1 million in the bank.

Every year theres one youth player Utd fans get infatuated with based on pre-season performances and this year is Elanga. He has a long way to go to meet even the standards of being a Premier League player, let alone a Utd player.

Its a shame hes not a right winger otherwise he’d have been a third choice right forward behind Sancho and Greenwood, but he’s yet another left forward who likes to get central in the final third.

I would send him out on loan at this point.

Glad everyone else has an issue with this nonsense as well.

Regarding Elanga, its too early to say but lets hope so.

So is this a case of preseason pirlo and preseason Martial? I’ve been seeing major shades of a more agressive Martial with Elanga for the last few years. He’s fast as hell, direct, he’s built. Perfect PL player on paper. He’s not going to get the opportunities to explode onto the scene and iron out the kinks in his game here though. I’d rather we got him a PL loan if we could. I’d say a few clubs would take him and use him, he’s that promising. Is he actually good enough for Utd though? It looks to me like he has a very high ceiling if he’s given those golden chances.

He’s going to be an international player

I'm not seeing the Martial comparisons. If anything he's much more like Rashford.

Too early to tell but of course we all hope he is. He has the physicality and the work rate which is a good start. Decent positioning and finishing which is positive as well. Lets give him the time he needs and see where it takes us. I'm optimistic about him and Hannibal from the current youth set up.

For me he's too good to go back full-time to the under 23's next season.
Definitely. He'll go on loan either in January (deputising for Rashford but from the bench) or before this summer window closes. Too good to spend another season there.
