They could rehire Lucien Favre who is still Dortmund's most successful coach with highest point tally per game.

To make the joke perfect, Gladbach could then rehire Marco Rose to complete the project he has left for to join Dortmund.

Shouldn’t banter or trolling at least be creative or subtle?

We should a bit more humble to be fair. Schlotterbeck and Adeyemi are probably two of the biggest German talents today and Süle is a very solid defender. They beat us to Bellingham and Haaland but luckily Ed has departed and we seem to have learned something so we beat them to Erik. That might actually be our biggest signing in years.

I always liked Dortmund because of their fervent fan base, and they were the only team seemingly capable of breaking the Bayern hegemony in the BDL, which isn’t good for anyone. But their comments a few years ago “you love to see it”, were really petty and small time for a club to make. A fan, or ex player, certainly, but a club? Very unprofessional and embarrassing. That said, I do think our fans should move past it. It’s just not that interesting anymore.

Dortmund have done well in being what they are, a stepping stone club. It’s no real achievement qualifying for the CL in such an uncompetitive league, but it certainly helps their case when it comes to signing hot young talents, giving them playing time, and then selling them on to bigger clubs. The fact that so many of our fans feel competitive with Dortmund, just shows how far we’ve fallen as a club.

I agree with you. I am not against making fun of Dortmund. I was simply expecting it to me more entertaining than pretending to not know their signings. :D

Not really available right now though is he ? :nono:
Yeah, that was a dumb formulation :) Easily the best coach who was available this season. Think every Bundesliga club bar Bayern and Freiburg would've swapped their coach against Ten Hag if they had the choice.

While we aren't what we used to be, I really don't like this line of argument. We have a lot of fans, some hold a grudge against Dortmund due to the Sancho saga and care about it more than others. Even on an individual level, I don't think it's beyond the mental capacity of any average person to juggle multiple rivalries at the same time, whether we are competing directly against that team or not.

It's obvious that Dortmund was highly annoyed by how unprofessional United acted regarding the Sancho transfer. And that's totally understandable if the reports of United's messing around are real. And judging by the revealings of this season, that's not an unrealistic thing to think.

And yeah, they are a selling club. They have a third or so of your revenue, can that be anymore obvious?

What's up with the German bundes inferiority complex?
Your league is shite, embrace it.
The national team is good at least.

We all love United
BVB finished second and they sacked the manager? Why? Did they really expect to beat Bayern to the title or they didn’t like his brand or style of football?

Because they got knocked out of Europe and the cups and generally been poor all season, with a pourus defence and heavily reliant on a giant Norwegian.

They have looked lost at times this season, they have looked like United in the last few games under Ole for most of the final third of the season.

To be fair, they only got Haaland because they put the release clause in, much the same reason he’s joining city now. We would have wanted him to join and create a legacy at the club, all he seems to care about is moving every few years for the big payday. He’ll be at Real Madrid by 2025 (when his next release clause kicks in, I believe).

That's the thing with the new superstars that's how they work just see Mbappe, either you play their game or you don't. We as Utd should start to be a bit more realistic we are a club in a mess, it's tough to enjoy laughing at other clubs when our house is in a mess.

We don't need to, the likes of Liverpool, city and Bayern surely didn't need to and they have been by far the most successful of the past few years.

I can't remember why I joined this war.
I remember the jokes were as funny when they first heard of Müller, Özil at the world cup 2010.
Let's wait and see when both teams meet again.
Well, cut us some slack, we pay people good money who got duped into thinking AWB was a football player and Maguire was worth 80M. We need to have our fun wherever we can find it.

They also made a snarky comment when we bought Mkhitaryan from them, wishing him good luck in the Europa League.

But it's not just us. When Gundogan left for City, they wrote on their Facebook: "The midfielder, who is currently suffering from a knee injury, will leave the eight-time German champions in the summer to join Manchester City, who finished in fourth in the English Premier League last season..."

It's certainly petty, but really who cares.

I guess because they have ambitions of improving and playing to a certain standard, rather than simply looking at it in black and white like "we finished 2nd, that'll do, here's a new 3 year contract"

Oh man the days when I used to rave to people about Ozil before 2010 and they would say 'who?'.

I even once said on a United group on Orkut that United should sell Nani in Jan 2008, 6 months after joining, and buy Ozil because it was heavily rumored he was going to Arsenal  Needless to say I wasn't a massive fan of Nani when he joined.

Can't say I have the same excitement for German youngsters these days though (maybe apart from Wirtz).

The poor competition made Dortmund‘s season look kinda good. Almost all German clubs were underperforming this season.

Maybe if Sancho comes good next season this forum will get over its complex over a club United haven't even played a game against in 25 years.

Yeah i still remember the build up of the match between England and Germany at Fontainebleau. Shearer and Alan Hansen and Lineker were raving about England and only discussed the with how many goals England will beat Germany's team of nobodies.
