Voice holding up well. They didn’t do like Bowie as he got older and revised the keys down.
Not to be mean spirited but if he wasn't 80 and a Beatle this would be shocking for a glastonbury headline. And I say that as a HUGE Beatles fan.

Surely that's obviously why though and if he wasn't an ex Beatle then he wouldn't be headlining?

Anyone here I was thinking the Beatles didn't exist and all these songs were wrote by famous singer songwriter jack malik

Yeah, but he IS a Beatle.

People will always be cynical about headliners, but if Paul McCartney doesn't fit that bill (and I say this as someone who loves the Beatles, but is firmly in the John camp), who does?

He has earned the right to be indulged at this stage. I wish I was there tbh.

He looks amazing for 80 but yeah it’s a dog shit performance. Although Glastonbury has had
Marks & Spencer vibe for years now, so it kinda of works.

Still just bring in the holograms and be done with it.

 true. Though Glastonbury has never been what people love to think it is, and the people running it have aged too.

The sad thing is festivals are truly running out of headliners anyway and have been for years. It's a weird scenario.

There are no new massive bands suitable for it, it'll soon be just headlined by Tiktok musical artists which are popular by one or two songs. Obviously former headliners were a lot more rock than now it seems like

Yeah, I get this but it's just a bit of a shame to me. That said, the last few have been a bit more like it. I mean Obla di obla da live? You'd have to be heartless not to love it.

I’ve never been to Glastonbury but I still very much enjoy going to gigs and seeing big bands just as much now as many years ago.

Was at one last night and going to three more next week.

I think for 80 he's sounded pretty good, better than he has the last few years actually.

Very odd set list for a festival though. When you're doing your normal gigs on your tour I understand playing different things but surely as a headliner you just play the hits.

It's not like he doesn't have enough songs everyone knows. Sounds like at least the 2nd half of his set is all hits.

Agree 100% although it’s gotten better for last few

But Jesus just do an entire Beatles set list and people will call it best ever. Easy

Err..okay? Not sure what that has to do with my post, but I love the energy for live gigs.

Who did you see/are seeing btw? I know Greenday/weezer had a big gig last night, my missus got a free ticket. Bitch

Yeah watching old clips from the it’s so called heyday, it seemed very different to the nostalgia most people talked about. Mostly big patches of empty field and awful half built staging. Plus even the things people hate about it now like older people bringing their kids along, was always happening.
Tbh considering what Glastonbury is now(Massive world wide popular music event), they do a pretty great job at catering for a range of people with different taste. But the natural downside is a kinda high quality of blandness.

The internet has expanded the range of music available to people that it’s kind of impossible to get a big consensus around music acts unless they are older ones like Paul.

I couldn’t even tell you who is the biggest band in the world anymore. It’s like a thing that doesn’t exist anymore. Feels very odd.

Apologies I took up your post was live music in general.

But yes I am also due to see Greenday and Weezer on Monday, guns n roses on Tuesday and the chilli peppers on Wednesday. Was at kings of Leon last night and 3rd time seeing them but really enjoyed the night they were class

You have to be pretty bloody special to show up as a guest on a Beatle’s festival set, and he does YOUR song.

Ha, yeah, I thought that too. Bit disappointed we didn't see Paul and Dave play Everlong but whatever.

The missus is not really into live music or any of the bands fully, but she thoroughly loved Weezer, Fallout Boy and Green Day. I've seen Weezer and Green day at various gigs/festivals, so I know they are great live acts.

Festivals are weird all round though, the crowd can be very hit and miss as they aren't all necessarily there for the acts they are seeing, especially the main ones. For a 20 yo Billie Eilish to a 80 yo Macca though, I think they have held court enough for me to wish I'd have been there for both. Even if the sets lulled at times.

Grohl and Macca sounded like 2 drunkards banging out karaoke. Pretty banging to be fair.

It always works since he finishes with a bang and ends with Hey Jude, and throws in 2 major Superstars to help out just before that.

Let It Be and Hey Jude back to back to finish. Not bad. Say what you will about the scousers but The Beatles probably just about edge the Happy Mondays.

This. And I’d love to be there too… could be looking at his last major gig.

my sister and her friend got one of the helper jobs (her friends done it a few times) and they went down in her RV Monday. Had entire week there. Jammy mare.

I had all yesterdays stuff recorded so watched billie Eilish earlier and thought she was prettty good

I moaned a fair bit earlier about Paul but thoroughly enjoyed the last third of his show
