I think even with the proposal of being a guaranteed starter for us.....he'd still choose City. He could play 30 odd games, win 2/3 trophies and play in the CL or play 50 odd for us and at best probably challenge for the Europa.

Don't get your hopes up too much gents. He isn't coming here.

He wants to play through the middle and he won’t have that chance at City but he will here.

The kind of player we’d drop a fortune on in fees and wages and we’d get Arsenal era Gnabry ( ok but nothing special) rather than the player he became when he went to Bayern. No thanks.

Why not just stay at Bayern then? I also don't think City will spend big on an attacker, they still have Haaland, Foden, Grealish, Alvarez, Mahrez and seem to rate Palmer as a 4th winger at least.

If Gnabry came here it would be because he wants to be a guaranteed starter (maybe centrally) and sees himself as a big fish in a medium pond.

Unsure if I buy this. They brought Grealish in for 100m without offloading anyone. They then bought Haaland. So they actually can lose 2 forwards players without any issue.
Agree. He'll play second fiddle as striker, and they have Mahrez and Silva on the right, Grealish and Foden on the left. They don't need to replace Sterling - presumably they sold him because he was basically surplus to requirements. And Haaland clearly (more than) replaces Jesus.

Still, I suppose it's always possible that Pep sees this differently from me. :)

I think Gnabry would be a fantastic signing, if he's interested. Positionally versatile too, which we need.

Yeah the difference since he was at Arsenal & WBA is massive, bit like De Bruyne after his time at Wolfsburg

Is he actually any good? I saw him at Arsenal and he was kind of a flop and then I watched him against Spurs in a CL game for Bayern and he scored about 3 or 4 goals alone and all of them really well taken

Seems a different animal since playing over there, little bit like we saw with Salah at Fiorentina and De Bruyne at Wolfsburg

As we have seen, the forwards in a Pep team are incredibly fluid. City lost Aguero in the summer of 2021. And they brought Grealish. Whether he is meant as a forward or a midfielder, is too soon to tell, I guess.
Ah right, but my point is I dont buy Gnabry being a targeted because they already have a lot of fwds.

Do they? Haaland, Foden, Grealish, Mahrez, Alvarez. They’re losing Sterling, possibly Bernardo (who’s more featured as a midfielder last season). They rotate a lot and you’d imagine Grealish will be pulled back to start playing in the Bernardo role if they lose him.

They got Grealish and Haaland in the last two windows and they lost Jesus plus possibly Sterling now.

They're net the same. If you consider Alvarez not being loaned and seemingly going straight in the squad as reported, they have +1 body there.

He doesn't dish out performances like that every day of the week, but he has those goals in him for sure.

Think Arsenal would probably match any reasonable bid we’d make if Gnabry was indeed available. And he’d probably prefer to go back there.

Worth a try though. We’re running out of quality wide options.

Why would he prefer to go back there, its not like Wenger still run the place?

Idk why any top player in general would choose Arsenal over Chelsea but maybe he’s one of those guys who thinks he has unfinished business?
