Fecking LVG - Rafael, Chicharito, Evans . 3 players who would die for the club.
Was devastated when Rafael left the club. I thought he had huge potential . He never really went on to achieve much but I always thought he should never have been sold.

To be honest the only one we were wrong to let go was Evans, and even he seemed to have lost his head at the club, was unable to give good performances anymore and needed a change. Welbeck, Chicarito, Rafael we were right to get rid of. People go overboard criticising LVGs outgoings because he ultimately failed at the club. Rafael and Welbeck weren't going to make a difference in 2015/16.

Only criticism of him was he was always injured. I remember when we played real Madrid and the only way Ronaldo could get out of Rafael's pocket was to switch sides to attack evra.

Ronaldo was throwing a strop at how Rafael just dealt with him.

We should never have gotten rid of him in the first place.

Proper baller who can use his knowledge of the game to compensate for loss of speed that comes with age.

Rafael hasn't been replaced in an attacking sense. I loved him, gave his all and I forgave all his flaws because of how big his heart was.

The fact that we signed so many duds since selling him, from rojo to bailly to lindelof to even Maguire makes you feel , why did we even sell him in the first place. People rave about lvg but the guy caused immense damage by letting go of players like evans chicharito welbeck rafa de silva. All of them still could have been used as squad players than just being sold outrigthly.

The expectations are rightly higher for Varane but thought Evans was even worse today. I think for the 2nd goal in particular, he should be doing better, either by supporting Dalot and getting/forcing McT to move centrally or to cover Gibbs-White. Think he just dropped way too deep not marking anyone.

There were people praising the signing and saying he'll barely play.

Even as a 5th option, he shouldn't be at this club.

He was nowhere near good 8 years ago, but 8 years later, he's starting Premier League games for the club still. This isn't a charity.

We're a clown show since SAF retired.

Solid shift, but as most others would acknowledge, the opposition was limited in its capabilities.

He was a liability 10 years ago and now he’s just pathetic

This page is hilarious, fawning over him and then when he reverts to type everyone flips. He was sold for a reason, he should never have returned.

Man is 36 and it showed at Spurs' 2nd goal. Not the best game for him but I've been impressed with how solid he's been for us since coming back. He'll still be solid option for the rest of the season no doubt. Hopefully Varane, Martinez, Maguire will be available though as I think Evans is too old to play this often.

Showed his age on that 2nd goal. A solid pro and decent back up but with Martinez back he's unlikely to start many more games this season.

Ridiculous the amount of criticism. He did nothing wrong the entire game except that situation for the second goal(happens to younger CBs too), and I thought he was excellent in the first half.

Has done well for us this season considering he's our 5th choice. I'm struggling to be harsh on him.
no need to try. He is one of the players that came in and did his job. Yesterday’s game was poor. But overall, he is probably our best summer signing

He’s been solid every time he’s played this season, but was very poor for their second. Once again, some of the reactions on here are way over the top

Just age catching up with him. Even so he is no worst than our current batch. His awareness is still there, just that the body can't catch up, his passes are still good.

Evans now is still good enough as a backup. Evans in his prime can be our starting CB, Evans at his prime was 4th choice behind Vidic, Ferdinand, Wes Brown, and maybe even behind O'Shea.

How our standards have really dropped.

Can't blame him, he came to train with us to hopefully get a gig in the championship or something but the idiots in charge gave him a contract. He probably still can't believe his luck.

Has been really good for us and it's laughable he's getting blamed for the goal.

He shouldn't be regularly starting important games like Spurs, Pool (though to be fair he was flawless against the latter). He's clearly lost a step, but none of the issues we have with him right now are really his fault.

Even with all the problems he's actually far exceeded expectations as 5th choice. I would even argue that this has been ETH's best signing here accounting for value.

I'm personally a bit more critical but agree with your overall sentiment except the last point. That would be Eriksen for sure as he was integral to our game last season and even this one (whenever he's been fit).

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
He's been mostly good for us since returning. Had a few bad games, but less than any of our other CB's other than maybe Maguire.

He's been a surprisingly good signing, considering we bought him in on a free to be an emergency 5th (if not 6th) choice defender. I'd like to know who everyone else would have signed for that role if you think we should have done better.

If Betancur had cut right while Jonny went ahead he would have scored. Either way Jonny gets the blame. You cant be in two places at once.
