Hojlund really needs to step up. I am not expecting a hat trick but at least he needs to make his presence feel.

Though Antony did well in first half and deserved a goal, hopefully he gets one in the 2nd half.

Im suprised little is being said about the keeper on Newport's goal, if that was Onana he'd be getting slaughtered for it.
Deflection to be fair. Has looked a tad ropey in other instances but nothing too bad

Still in control, lucky deflected goal from Morris.

Score early 2nd half or it will become a dogfight.

Antony and Hoijlund either improve or get hooked.

Because that is our playstyle, we are direct and try to do it quick, for better or for worse. You can't play this style and expect to camp in oppo's third. That tweet is bunch of bollocks.
And it's not good. Teams as big as United should be accomplished in possession as most teams we play will sit in a low block against us. Even Klopp realised that Liverpool needed to be less direct and more assured in possession and brought in a coach to help with that.

Kinda want to see what will happen if Antony plays on the left and Garnacho on the right. Antony's 'cut inside trick' is boring to watch now. At least on the left he might be able to whip a cross in or do something more. We need width and we need move balls into Hojlund.

Hojlund invisible even against these kind of players is ridiculous. Over the top praise for his all around play(ever aince he's signed for us) is really weird because I don't see it. Someone like Chicharito was always more involved.
Aye, overall he's not involved enough. But he's made good runs and Garnacho has ignored him at least 3 times.

Never understood why we have Antony on the right. He is a one trick pony and everyone knows exactly what he will do. Every. Single. Time.

The issue is Antony needs to over perform to prove his worth in a game like this. He's been decent, but he needs to be doing more.

So? That only speaks for their bias, giving Garnacho higher score while he was selfish af while Antony had an assist is beyond stupid.
I thought Garnacho looked more dangerous despite the lack of end product, but they're not that far apart tbh

Enjoyable first half, thought we looked good albeit against a lower division team, nice to see Martinez, Shaw and Casemiro get more minutes under them and also for Mainoo to play next to Casemiro, hopefully this is our back 4 and midfield for the rest of the season.

He's had 4 or 5 very tame efforts against a league 2 side. Hojlund would sell his own mother to get 4 or 5 chances but no one ever passes to him

Hojlund is doing all the right things. If his team mates had any kind of decision making he would have 2 or 3 today. Its no wonder he doesn't score when Rashford and Antony are in it for themselves week in week out. Garnacho does occasionally make a pass but he has a greedy tendency too. Cant blame Hojlund when he isn't being given the ball. If he is missing 7 or 8 chances every game like Antony then he would be open to criticism
You can criticise him for plenty, but if all our other attacking players could find Hojlund as much as Rashford does, then he would be in a far better spot. He’s the only player who has struck up any sort of partnership with him so far.

I never understand why we don't switch wingers during the game. Might be more beneficial to the attacking play.

Every single coach and player knows that to defend Antony you defend in such a way as to make his cut inside difficult and to delay so that the rest of the defenders can cover whats happening elsewhere. He has been well worked out, he needs something to change. A move to the left would mean he would have to provide a threat in terms of providing for others rather than the threat he could shoot from cutting in onto his better shooting foot. Is he capable of providing quality crosses or cut back passes from the left?

It's not thr best stuff ever, but we've been very much on control. They're goal had a lot of luck attached to it. I was worried it may be like the game against Wigan, but we've been much better than that game.

Pleased for Mainoo to get his first goal. Nice move and finish for the first goal too.

Has he even touched the ball?

Some how people still think he is good
He has touched the ball several times, laid it off for others and linked up play. Sadly he seems to be the only one in the squad who is not a selfish fecker and so he gets no return service. Of course he is a good player, he already has 7 goals for us despite playing in one of the worst ever United sides alongside the most incompetent and greedy wingers we have ever fielded.

Having to watch with the sound off. These 2 are fecking painful. Their goal was 100% twatted with a hope and a prayer and went in due to the big deflection of Martinez, but apparently was "A goal of the season" and the "best version of that type of goal scored this year".

Less said about Murphy the better. Bitter little nugget with zero insight. Christ knows how he gets so much work as a pundit. Maybe hating Man United is the only "qualification" they look for these days.

    Yeah man - Agree!

Newport are shit but the commentators are desperately trying to create a narrative.

Yup it's weird how Rashfords gets constant flack for being selfish even though he is the only winger who actually tries to play with Rasmus.

I just feel the issue with our players is, they start overdoing things and lack focus for 90 min. ETH doesn't do himself any favours, but it must be so frustrating to have players that can't maintain intensity for 90 min of a match.

Yeah, I don't really understand the logic in it. He got an assist today, but he very rarely does that or scores in that position. It's clearly not working for him there, so it might be a good opportunity to try something different.

And how do you think Antony gets his chances if not by his teammates? Hardly any chance he creates himself. How do you think we scored other two goals?

To score chances you need to be i volced, and he is not making good runs at all.

In what way does that make him unselfish? Have you even thought about what you have written?

Did seem a bit odd, as while he did have dual nationality for Spain & Argentina, surely once a player has played for one internationally, you refer to them as that?
That’s what I’d assume. I just thought that the fella being paid to commentate on live football wouldn’t make a howler like that
