Seems like Carsley may not be a dead duck yet. Hopefuly. The thoughts of Lennon are (a) horrifying and (b) show the FAI haven't bothered their hole looking beyond England and Scotland in terms of experience becase I find it very hard to believe Lennon is the next best option after Carsley

Had to laugh at that article referring to some FAI goons and Packie Bonner, whose top candidates consist of Lee Carsley and Neil feckin Lennon, as 'headhunters' and a 'high-powered trio'

This is true. Albeit Carsley’s work with the England U21s would make him a really positive and exciting move, in my opinion. We lost our minds for Stephen Kenny and he had a few Irish leagues and not getting bate out the gate in the Europa on his CV. Carsley has winning the Euros with one of the best England U21 sides in memory.
Is Robbie Keane not under consideration?

A coach who's good at working with young players and familiar with modern tactics is what Ireland need.
There is a strong nucleus of U23 players to work with: Bazunu (21), Omobamidele (21), Collins (22), Knight (22), Ebosele (21), Moran (20), Parrott (21) Ferguson (19)
And there's also some good 24-26 year olds in Kelleher (25), Scales (25), O'Shea (24), Smallbone (24) and Ogbene (26)
Lee Carsley or Steve Cooper would be ideal.

To be fair given what Carsley has done with the England U-21's I've no issue with him being on the list. I think he's worth a punt but Lennon shouldn't be anywhere near that list. My fear is that it's Packie that's pushing it with his Celtic background

Ferguson, Bazunu and Collins are certainly the cream of the U23 crop but I have my doubts with the rest bar Moran. There’s also some good talent in the younger age groups from around 15 or 16 up, and hopefully some of those will emerge as proper players in the coming years.
But until we develop/get some good centre midfielders it’s gonna be very hard for us to really progress.

Thankfully backfired when he copped how much support Kenny had and came up with the "solution" of Kenny managing the U-21's and Mick managing the Seniors with Kenny taking over after Euro 2020. Keane was part of Mick's backroom team but wasn't wanted by Kenny but he still continued picking up a paycheck from the FAI for the guts of at least year despite the fact there was cuts being made in the aftermath of the overthrow of JD and then Covid

Celtic FFS. Was being linked Verona earlier today. Will learn sweet FA playing in the SPL
He's a decent player but he's clearly not a natural goalscorer. Would like to see him play a bit deeper, he holds the ball up well, and links up play. We can't be relying on him for goals. I don't even think he'd be prolific in the SPL

Lennon has been doing some amount of pimping himself out for the job over the last week on his punditry and was at it again tonight. Reeks of desperation that alone is why he shouldn't be getting it. Anyone with brains would be coy about it

He's on loan at Excelsior in The Netherlands. He's doing fairly well. 6 goals and 3 assists from 11 starts. 19 appearances overall.
While I don' think he'll live up to the expectations from when he was a teenager, he's still young and can be a good player for Ireland.
Hopefully he stays playing abroad. The Championship didn't work out for him.
Jake O'Brien is doing well on loan at struggling Ligue 1 Lyon. He must be in contention for a cap soon. He's become popular with their fans.

FAI apparently talked to 12 candidates about the job and Lennon somehow has supposedly made it into the final 2. Would love to know who the other 10 were if that's the case.

He’s tied to NI now as I understand it, and whatever about the actual rules I wouldn’t be comfortable going after players who have already played for a senior team. The FAI should’ve pursued him whilst he was in the youth sides. We also can’t forget that there was nothing to stop Bradley himself declaring.
Anyway, there’s another young Irish player from Derry at Liverpool who (fingers crossed) will turn out better and more important for us in the future.

He's from a GAA background and is a Catholic, so it's likely he would have been interested.
Northern Ireland are clever with their policy. They cap them very young. Bradley was offered a senior cap while playing U18 football.
He's playing for his country and has done all the way up through underage levels. There's no reason to expect that he would ever have switched. Being from a GAA background, Good Friday agreement or religious whatever doesn't really come into it.
Ireland have Ebosele and Sam Curtis who just joined Sheffield Utd for right back over the next 10 years. Bradley isn't needed.
