It's strange because that xG number thingy shows that West Ham have scored over one goal and yet the scoreline makes it seem like they're losing the match...
xG is nothing to rely on. Stats can be so deceiving and are no answers. It is enough to watch games and make a statement based on what you see.
To be fair their chances are mostly from set pieces, but im more concerned about ours!

Surprised to see how many shots they've had in the stats, because I really feel like it doesn't feel like that sort of game at all.

Fantastic goal by Hojlund. Delighted for him to be right in form now.

Mainoo tidy but deferring. Needs to get himself more involved, quality is there when he gets on it.
Couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I think you nailed it. He's been a bit more hesitant today. Definitely seems to be waiting to see what everyone else is doing.

We're just such a dull team. Man Utd, above all else, was about entertainment. Games these days are mostly horrible to watch

Winning at half time is good, the rest is not that good
West Ham 13 shots to our 4 is shocking
Shooting from 54 meters usually don't get you goals. West Ham have been shooting from long range and I have no problem if they keep doing that for rest of the game.

Happened against Wolves as well. As soon as Casemiro was taken off, Mainoo's involvement in the game doubled.
Possible the criticism of McT and previously Mount's lack of involvement playing in that role is unwarranted as it seems like a structural issue or something that is being instructed to them.

Once again, I'm watching a different game to nearly everyone else on here.

I think we've played pretty well. Goal was excellent, and I haven't felt nervous as in most matches. Think we're playing with a bit more control, Bruno keeping it quite tidy. I think we'll have plenty of chances in the second half.

For me the main issue in the match is our wing play. Garnacho has done very little, same for Rashford. Rashford has been very slow in his decision making as always, and Garnacho has failed to really have any impact.

xG merchant’s coming in again as though we’re supposed to look at that instead of the score line.

Once we scored unlike some of the other top teams, we dont go for a second goal.....

No you are not, it is just that you are watching an actual game, while tons on here are watching numbers and stats instead.

Martinez has been transformative at centreback. So calm, assured and zips passes into the forwards quickly. Love him!

Would the people complaining about conceding shots want Rashford and Bruno go on their shoot on sight-mode to even the shots statistic? It likely wont result in goals but i suppose that doesnt really matter?

Eh i wouldn't say that. Our problem hasn't been being dull, it's been a complete lack of control and dominance in games leading to just pure end to end teams where we concede 20 shots per game.

I'm not concerned about our set pieces and neither should you.

It's the goal we'll concede in the first two minutes at the start of this second half that scares me.

The difference is we look like scoring when in the right position. We haven't kicked on since scoring and West Ham have had opportunities but haven't been able to finish. We need to up the tempo this half.

There is absolutely nothing about this game we are in control of. Honestly Ive seen west ham a lot. They’ve had 14 entries into our box and 13 shots. Most games, even home games West Ham struggle to get 2/3 shots/entries into the box in. It’s a bad, bad performance. Our cbs, halaand and onana have been good but everyone else has been so below par.
    Who is Halaand?

We are in control. After our goal, we are letting them have more ball. Shooting from distance is no problem. Them getting into box is no problem when we are defending like we do.

Martinez and Maguire have been great, Casemiro and Bruno less so, Rashford and Garnacho are not getting any change out of their full backs either.
That is one side of the story. With Varane with Martinez we are way more proactive and pushing high. With Maguire we are forced to sit deep.

I think we'd like to just control games and not give them shooting opportunities like normal top teams... Conceding 20 shots per game isn't normal

This is what i was seeing too. Just missing that spark in the front line to create good chances.

Only 2 of their shots were on target. We blocked a lot of them. They've created feck all, although set pieces are a concern.
