How good is he on the ball? one injury to Martinez and United are severely lacking in CB's that are comfortable playing out, Varane will be a year older and the other 2 have always average at everything defensively.
Quite good, although it's not like Everton are some fluid Brighton style build up team so he's not just pinging it around for fun. But he'd easily be the second best on the ball in our club already.

We need pickford, brairhwhite and onana and osimhen. Good to go then for 2025.
Can't see Osimhen coming here now Rasmus is the main man, also feel we could do better than Pickford but would definitely take the others

Big test for him this afternoon. Onana only makes the bench, would be good to watch the pair of them at this level.

Let's swap Onana's
Why does everyone seem to rate Everton's Onana so much? He's their 4th best CM and doesn't have a great injury record...I really don't see it with him. Not saying he's a bad player and for sure you'd take him on a free but I wouldn't be banging Everton's door down for a player that's not as good as a lad we let go for £15m.

He's having a great match - perfect for us !
I think Haaland is really struggling against him - watch him score now......

Got absolutely dog walked for the second goal. My word.
Think he was just unlucky there. Don't think Haaland outmuscled him really, it was more to do with their feet and seems like Branthwaite got tangled.

It was what you'd expect from a young defender against City. Some good moments where he defended well, also some moments he was caught out but the experienced and very good defender that he is Tarkowski was there to cover him. And then a mistake that led to a chance and goal. Not a great performance but enough to see why hes highly rated as a young defender for his defending and physicality..

He has a freakish profile with his size/mobility/strength combo along with good technical ability. Could be a monstrous ball/duel winner if developed properly and we absolutely need more duel winners and athleticism in our midfield.

Meh. Kanté is one of the best DMs I've seen and he's 5'6. Fernandinho also and he's what 5'9? Not interested in that shit. Is he good at football? He's fine.

Nah, his injuries are annoying but he has the most talent out of all of them.

Disagree tbh. They're all pretty similar levels.
Ok, suppose he's roughly as good as a guy who cost £15m a couple of years ago, is roughly the same age, and is not injured all the time...how is Onana the guy everyone thinks is top 4 good despite showing very little overall? It's a wild career these guys have.

He always starting whenever match fit, better both defensively and passing than Garner, and better passer than Gueye. He’s their best midfielder, not sure how you can come out out with their 4th best CM.

Definitely a good passer. Some decent vertical passing to feet in crowded areas. Seems to pass with left foot more than right, although @SilentWitness above stated he was two footed. Also showed composure under pressure.

I think he said in an interview he passes short with his left and long with his right, or vice versa.

He's quicker than Garner and Gueye...not having that he's better defensively or at passing than Garner. He's so overrated. Doucoure is their best midfielder followed by Garner and then Gana.

That's enough to end the discussion there. You don't know what you're talking about. Anyway, this is the Branthwaite thread so let's try to not derail it any further. :)

If that’s the case, you haven’t watch him enough if you think he isn’t better than Garner in defense and passing. I watch him enough that I can be comfortably say he is better than Garner in those two areas.

would take a fortune to get him in the summer. Is he really worth it. Seems doubtful. Good player but not £70m+ level.
