Villa Park must be our favourite away ground at this stage?
Think they have only beaten us once there in 30 years? Since the famous " Kids"game in 95. We have won every cup semi I remember us playing there too.
    Feeling optimistic.

Our form away to top 10 teams is awful. Villa haven't won at home in 2024 yet and unfortunately I feel they will tomorrow. Hopefully team proves me wrong.

After tomorrow we could be 5 points or 11 points off the top 4. Would anyone take a draw to keep it at 8?

I’d take a draw just because we are shite against any decent team away. Spurs late winner was a disaster though.

I dont think we'll get that many chances to cut the gap so no. It'd be a good result in most circumstances and i wouldn't complain. We have to gamble and go for a wins at this point in the season though.

    A) Cup game B) they will be even more up for it now as a reaction.
Does anyone really think that’s what’s running through the minds of a team that just got hammered? Somehow when we get pumped, no one here is thinking oh yeah, we lost by 5 goals last match, therefore this time we’re going to annihilate our opponents. Usually it’s more like please keep the score to only 3 against.

Absolute must win. It will likely be a similar game to the 3-2 in the way they set up. This means we need all the pace on the pitch. Garnacho, Rash, Hojlund.

Such an important match. A good result here would allow us to dream for Top 4, at least.

But it's an away game against a top team, which has become synonymous with a loss. Anticipating a Maguire - Onana disasterclass.

    50/50 game I reckon.
It will come down to us taking our chances and Varane and Harry keeping Watkins quiet.
I will go for a 2-1 in our favour.

No, it's effectively 9 due to our terrible goal difference. Spurs and Villa won't lose 3 games more than us in 14 games.

Most of that team picks itself. The defense, with Licha being out, is a bit. I feel like Erik might want to play Shaw at LCB, but that might not be possible with the options currently available.

We could have some chances in transition, villa will press us and use a high line.

If AstonVilla try to go with attacking tactics we will hit them on break. What we have been seeing past weeks are steps to a better football from our side. More pace, more movement. With are controlling games better, we are more solid while our attackers have finally start producing. Let Aston Villa attack, win our battles in the middle of the park and we will be fine.

I have absolutely no idea tbh.

With the likes of Rasmus, Rashford and Garnacho hitting some form there's a definite goal threat.

We just seem incapable of controlling games in midfield at times which makes me worry we will be under pressure for large periods...which is strange.

Losing Martinez is a real kick in the gut. But here's hoping. It's one of those games you feel we need to win if we are going to kick on towards top 4. Especially with City away on the horizon.

Winning away at Villa is improbable given what we've done this season, but it needs to happen or I'm pretty sure our top-4 goose will be cooked.
I think it should be the aim, but I've got to say I'm less fixated on Champions League football next year than just wanting to see some sort of consistency and cohesion.

If we get it great, but between now and the start of next season, hopefully even without it, we will get a real sense of what we are trying to achieve and which direction we are headed.

I know it's not exactly shooting for the stars, but I'd just like to have some comfort that someone at this fecking football club has some sort of idea what they're doing :)

With Aston Villa playing midweek and maybe using the high line, we could have a chance to win it. I’m not confident, but there is an opportunity, which I don’t think I would have said a few months ago.

They got destroyed by Chelsea. It would mess up my weekend if we drop points today.

Confident today, I think we’ll win by a couple goals. They won’t be able to stop our pace in attack, I think Bruno will get MOTM.

Good thing that there is not much weekend left after the game, because we are not exactly that reliable - especially without Martinez.

Heard briefly on talk of the devils that 5th would likely be enough for CL football this season. Is that right?
The two countries that do best in the 3 European competitions will get an extra CL place.
IMO the PL teams are well placed to do well.
Villa are in the Conference League, in theory they should walk it.

It's a moot point though since I think we're too inconsistent to catch Spurs and Villa.

Tough game. Obviously a win would be great but a draw would be okay once followed up with two wins. Would have been a bonus if spurs dropped points yesterday but I still think we can catch one of villa or spurs

Worried about Maguire against Watkins. This was a terrible game to lose Martinez for. Crossing my fingers this is one of Harry's good games. I believe we can get at them, I'm just not at all convinced we can keep them out.

I actually have an expectation today that we will play well instead of hoping for first time in a while.

That probably means we will be terrible

We have the attacking quality and a bit of form at the moment, and Villa‘s tactics suit us.
