Happy days. Our build up play is so much better with him. Especially down the left

We should be able to beat Luton without him, and I definitely don’t want him to be rushed back early and then he’s gone for the rest of the season. He’s so important to us right now, wrap him in cotton wool between big games if need be. And definitely sign a good enough deputy in the summer.

Playing a non left back in left back position is identified as weak point by any opposition team. I’m sure Luton will want to exploit that.

We should look to offload him in the summer if we have a decent offer

He's a good player but with his build you feel his fitness is really going to fall off a cliff once he hits his early 30s so that's one for Man. United to consider with regards future contracts and sourcing a long term replacement.

Is Malacia even alive?!

Incredible he's still only 28 given he's been playing regular prem football since 2012.

14/15: 21 games missed

15/16: 51 games missed (leg break season)

16/17: 38 games missed

17/18: 25 games missed

18/19: 8 games missed

19/20: 27 games missed

20/21: 8 games missed

21/22: 20 games missed

22/23: 8 games missed

34 games so far this season. He has been unavailable for 20 of them. So in 4 of the last 7 seasons he has missed 20+ games.

Shove your metrics. Club needs to move on with a stable left back that helps build a stable backline. Not a good left back who misses half the season and we struggle to adapt when he's gone.
And the hits keep coming.

Get rid.

I'd keep him but only as a centre back option. It's an extremely small sample size but he's got potential there.

Other than that, not my left back especially with his injuries.

A new first choice has to be a priority in the summer. Allow him to cover at LB/CB when he's actually available.

I wouldn’t expect us to do anything this summer as Malacia will (eventually!!) be back and we’ve only just signed him so we can’t sell him — but which LBs should be on our minds for the next 12-18 months? Not really any that scream out to me.

The discussion shouldn't even be controversial. This is not going to get better.

It's a shame because when he's on form and injury free we're a much better side with him in it.

Can't be relied on anymore.

Too injury prone.

He's a brilliant defender but he's just not fit enough consistently. We need a new LB

But brilliant, Any European team would have no problem playing him. Keep interchanging him Shaw and Malacia next season, using Shaw more as backup to Martinez
No issues with starting to get a look at him but we need a ready to go option and I think Robinson ready for a bigger club. Been linked strongly with Liverpool and City previously

Always out of shape and injured not a good look for us. We need a solid LB next season and wake the feck up regarding this guy.

He would be a goner long time ago in a serious club. But watch him stay for another 3-4 seasons here.

Wouldn't get rid of him but we definitely can't go into next season with him and Malacia, I'd get rid of Malacia before Shaw every day of the week.

We need a new starting LB asap. We can't be doing this every season, he's barely ever available.

Getting to the stage where a serious long term replacement needs to be found and quick.

He should be shifted on in the summer if that player can be found.

Looking over my shoulder.
He had a defensive run where he looked really fast, and then not long thereafter he leaves the pitch injured. Maybe he should try a different league, or convert to playing CB? Either way, United need to sell him - he's not reliable enough for us going forwards. He can possibly fetch some cash as well.

Certainly keep him but I think we need a full back on both sides as coverage and competition.
It's really annoying Brighton picked up Valentin Barco, not that I've seen him play enough but recall some well informed members of the caf hyping him pre-Brighton :(

It’s just time to make sure the squad is more balanced and we have two players of equal ability in every position. I think we can leave the right back position til the winter window 2025, we should make Theo Hernandez our number 1 target, keep shaw and have him as squad member, he’ll get himself fit and probably play 30-35 games at a high level, he can’t play any more than that his body breaks down ?

If we don't plan to buy 2 CB's in the summer then he should be the back-up LCB and we need to buy a top LB.

If we do buy a RCB and a LCB, then maybe Martinez can play LB when Luke is out as Malacia is simply bad (and probably dead).

Is Shaw injury prone? Obviously. But, I think the bigger issue is that we have no backup for him. It seems like a lot of his injuries this season are a result of him being rushed back, forced to play several full games in a row, and then getting hurt again. I don't see how it's a surprise he got hurt today, he clearly wasn't fit enough to start.

This wouldn't be an issue if Malacia was still alive or we had Reguilon still but as things stand we just keep throwing a half fit Shaw in to the starting lineup and acting shocked when he gets hurt again.
