fecking horrendous on that 2nd goal. Not sure what he was thinking with that wee dinked pass. After 2 very good games as well

Horror show today, but that'll happen if you get played out of position regularly. He's capable of being excellent at CB but he's not a natural at it so he'll have a bad day occasionally.

He had a bad game but to claim he cant play LCB is a bit stupid. He had quite a few of good games at LCB last season and just a few days ago he had one. He just looked off today like he wasnt focused at times.

Looking over my shoulder.
Also seemed to forget as CB he should be sweeping and a couple of times nearly let the ball run out or leave it to someone else. He was petulant in his duels and almost got a dumb yellow card kicking the ball away, luckily he kicked it to Bruno.

One to forget.
He lacks intensity. Always has. It’s also always been a concern with him.

Agree completely with this. He’s an extremely talented footballer but judging him against the standards of a top CB is unfair. He’s done very well playing there overall but he probably still hasn’t actually totalled 20 games there in his entire career!

Eric really needs to build whatever bridge he can with Varane and try the Varane-Maguire partnership. There’s no reason at all why their attributes can’t work together. Shaw back in his LB slot also massively improves us on that side.

Pulled his leg away from the cross for the first too. More concerned about maybe scoring an own goal than actually trying to stop the cross.

He was poor but he gets an easy ride as he's a LB and it's on the manager playing him there and allowing the inept Reguilon to play his position.

He is not playing Shaw at CB because he wants to start Reguilon. It is because he wants a left footed player in the CB slot because of the “passing angles”.

This manager is a clown. A good game or two at CB an he thinks Shaw is the answer. Would rather play Shaw at CB because of his left foot that play an actual center back like Varane.

Another player with questionable desire, injury record and consistency. Has seen off several managers.

Needs to be one of the first culled imho.

He can’t be playing centre back beside any body but varane. Varane obviously talks to him and directs him so he could get away with it.

it’s terrible when we are taking our best crosser out of the game to play centre back

Exactly.....he was out for quite a while so should have even eased back in and alternated with Sicknote until he was back up to speed.

Don’t agree but needs serious pressure, United should buy Theo Hernandez or Alphonso Davies, then he becomes an excellent back up option.

get him on the left where he can influence the game .Ten Hag needs to admit he’s wrong and stick Varane with Maguire . Some posters on here have forgotten that flick to Fernandes v Galatasaray already .

I didn't see the game but only the highlights disclaimer. All of his errors were due to his slackness on the ball and lazy covering runs. He has it in him to have these games at left back too.

I honestly don't think it's down to position, he is generally very good at CB.

A proper club would have signed a starting LB 5 years ago, yet we're still persisting with the Luke Shaw experiment hoping he never gets injured.

Mourinho was right.

Mourinho called him, Martial and Pogba years ago. Took us forever to see it and two still here for gods sake

Shaw is soft as cheese, any sign of a tough game and he goes missing. The lack of speed is now apparent it is simply get him fit and sell.

Just looking at him, his build, the way he moves, he's not got it in him to be a fullback anymore. He looks 35. As soon as he has to go 100% you're thinking here comes the injury.

A real stark contrast to a few of the Bayern players gliding about the place.

For me, him, lindelof, mctominay, martial and rashford are the common demoninators for the last few managers - all need to go if it is ‘the players’

Where the grass is greener.
Totally unreliable, and massively overhyped on here, especially when he's not playing, which is often. He's been average for us more than he's been brilliant, even if when he's on form he's fantastic, overall, he can't be depended on.

Spends 3 months out with a muscle injury, oh I know, let's start him in all 6 of the games that we have in the next 17 days. Great idea!!! Genius management.

As always, poor in big games. It's amazing how people were convinced that some player can be world class without ever performing in big games.

Always good for an injury is Luke. Fantastic player when he’s fit and in form but it always feels like the next injury is never too far away. Not exactly someone we can rely on in that regard.

Another one not living up to the potential.

Again us not being ruthless enough, we've been dragging on with Luke for years now, his injury time keeps pilling on, his perfomances keep getting worse....

There are left backs in the world you know.
Spurs just landed Udogie for peanuts.

You just have to look.

Is he really fantastic? He's had some really good spells, but he has never consistently been fantastic for us. Defensively, even at his very best he causes concerns because of his positioning, reading of the game and poor one on one defending. His engine has also been a concern overall, and his injury record has been atrocious. Fantastic he is not. Now he's also looking slower than before.

So apparently, he was a massive miss when he was injured. But now he's back, apparently he was never that good and one of our problems all along.

Don’t forget Bruno and Dalot, these guys have had enough chances and failed to deliver, need a complete overhaul despite spending 1bn+ since fergie left
