The Geordie fan base are an odd lot aren't they. They think he's shite yet haven't stopped crying on social media.

But we don’t know? And we’ll never know.
same way this Jewell fella and the Ex Brighton man at Chelsea seems to be Dans pick to work alongside him and the club seem to be waiting to sort this mess out with Newcastle before we approach them for the same legal reason.
Sam Jewell has agreed to join Chelsea after his gardening leave ends.

Been on gardening leave once for 3 months, at the start it's great but after a few weeks really starts to get boring all your pals/partner are at work so whilst the 1st few weeks are fairly productive towards the end it's a bit shit, I'd have liked to have just gone away for a large bit of it if I were single but the wife frowned upon me visiting my mate in Canada for a month
Put her on Gardening leave.

You know you were supposed to be tending your garden right? Or maybe a public one, if that is closer to home.

Good ol’ Dan now has plenty of time on his hands to finally trim his bush.

We might need "Newcastle-online goes into meltdown" thread soon, they are having a mare over there in Ashworth thread. Triggered so much by those Jim comments, Arab money made them a arrogant deluded bunch. Go on Jim!

Also this comment: "Hope his death is really fecking painful." :houllier: Vile creatures over there, absolute degeneracy.

Some decent ones:

Pay the money then you utter cnut. feck you and feck your club. It's brilliant we're telling them to go feck themselves.
The football club want to adding to be adding a few extra million now after those Ratcliffe quotes.

Perhaps the Monaco resident can use some of the money he’s saved up over the last few years to pay for Ashworth.
Just seen it. Entitled fecker. Shut up or pay.
What did he hope to achieve with that interview? If anything it will make it even harder when negotiating with us.
Waffling about getting the gov to pay for a new north national stadium. Thankfully these cnuts won't listen but what a fecking cheek. Hasn't he been tax dodging for decades and now wants taxpayers to pay for a stadium for him?

Utter cretin. Easily going to become the most hated person in English football. Entitled cnut.
Arrogant from top to bottom it seems.

Literally just expecting us to hand him over because they're Man Utd!

And?
Sir Jim Ratshit needs to have a word with the owners of Man Utd and why they so petty about pricing Lingard out of a loan move here when they hoped it would get us relegated. Then maybe come back and lecture us about how silly it is to put little Dan on gardening leave for 18 months.

Oh and next time you want on of our backroom staff, approach the club directly instead of through your media wingmen.
Sir Jim Twatcliffe coming across like a right bellend there like

Boo hiss sucks to employment law or contracts and I'll skweam and skweam and skweam and skweam and skweam if those horrid people in Newcastle won't let me have Dan Ashworth right now this instant
Some of the most stupid quotes i have seen in a long time. The Rat fits perfectly with the arrogant fanbase. How about talk to the club before you try to lure Ashworth away. What a prick.

Found this pretty interesting:

There have been reports of a £20m asking price. Does £20m seem strange for a sporting director?

“A bit silly, personally. I wont get dragged into that. What I do think is completely absurd is suggesting a man who is really good at his job sits in his garden for one and a half years. We had a very grown up conversation with City about Omar Berrada. When things got done we sorted it out very amicably. They could see why he wanted to take that challenge. You look at Pep and when he’s done with one of his footballers he doesn’t want them to sit in the garden for one and a half years. He doesn’t do that. That’s not the way the UK works or the law works.”
Particularly this little bit at the end:

To think this could have all been avoided if you hadn't tried to extort 15m for a lingard loan. #shameful

As a Ratcliffe sceptic I must admit to having been very impressed with him in this short time.

He’s put it perfectly. If this were a member of our staff moving to Newcastle I’m certain the media narrative would be different. To keep someone on gardening leave for 20 months with some inflated fee being quoted out of nothing but spite isn’t something people should be lauding but it’s United so people will act like it’s ok.

Well maybe we wouldn’t have played hard ball over Lingard if you lot didn’t demand £50m for Sean fecking Longstaff! It works both ways you know, you brought that one on yourselves so I don’t know why you’re so bitter about it. Anyway, by the sounds of it we’re in no rush to fork out the daft money you’re asking for Ashworth so if you’re happy to continue paying the fella to sit at home that’s fine by us. I’m sure we’ll figure out some work around for this “gardening” leave. :)

Club struggling with FFP wants to pay an employee to do nothing to spite another. Tin pot and small time.

You can tell Newcastle are a tiny club in their reaction regarding Ashworth vs City's regarding Berrada. They don't know what to do when dealing with the big boys because they aren't one yet so still take their Championship approach to dealing with everything.
