It’s another stupid decision the Glazers made. It set us backward on trajectory in both sporting and financial terms.

In hiding as usual. I cant believe I argued with people about the fact that Luton managed more shots in one match against us than they did in 3 matches against Liverpool, Arsenal and City combined.

This is it totally. Even if you think about our wins I struggle to think of any that we have deserved. Most of the time we are played off the park and this isn't just against the top six. It's against the bottom six as well.

We don't have the players to play the system he wants and he cannot and will not consider a more pragmatic formation.
 
I'm certain ETH won't be the manager next season regardless, but I really wish we could make the change now while we still have a decent chance to get CL football. Judging by Ratcliffe's comments, not getting CL football is going to make any transfer business next summer extremely difficult. I don't know if any managers would be open to joining now, but I'd certainly prefer Tuchel, Nagelsmann, Amorim or De Zerbi if any of them were open to joining (assuming Alonso isn't an option since he already seems Bayern-bound). If Ashworth has any preferences that I'm unaware of, I'd also trust him, but I really don't feel good about keeping ETH until the end of the season. It doesn't feel like we're going to get top 5 with him.

I am actually quite impressed with people who manages to find excuses for that and actually believe he has a future here. Like genuinely impressed. For how much longer is "yeah but Sir Alex almost got the sack in year 4" going to split the fanbase?

In recent week, goals and obviously wins have covered up our ability to defend as a unit. Whilst we've been winning of late, we've still continued to face plenty of shots on our goal, and it's something you simply can't maintain in the PL. He's had enough time to address this issue and hasn't!

Honestly I hope the new leadership team isn't as myopic about CL / no CL as the Glazers and their people were.

That is, if a manager is on course to miss out on the CL spots but shows a promising trajectory and you can clearly see what he's trying to build, he'll be kept. Likewise, if a manager qualifies for the CL but it's obvious he isn't taking us anywhere, he'll be sacked.
 
Think people are being harsh, put together a good run. Team isn't good enough to win every game. Focus needs to be recruiting better players first. If they can do that and find a better manager, even better.

Tell Mainoo or Casemiro to push up alongside Bruno, leave the other one exposed in 30-40 yards of pitch all on their own.
 
He’s a bit shite isn’t he? Like he’s a properly shite manager. Like he doesn’t actually seem to know the basics. You know like shape and structure etc.
Those things just don’t seem to matter to him.
Guess we just have to suck this shite up until the summer and pray one of our attackers hits freak form that bails us out of repeatedly unconvincing displays.
 
Gonna be a long slog to the en dog the season that's for sure.

With everyone fit ETH is capable of getting us to play shit and scrape wins.

As soon as we have a few important players injured we play really shit a lose constantly.

And we won't have a striker for the next few weeks and a left back for the rest of the season so can only imagine things are going to go very bad.

Agree. Hence why there's no point now to rush in a replacement now, but hopefully they make it clear internally that he has to go in the summrr regardless of the rest of the season (save for a miracle CL place is secured). Perfect timing also with a new management in place.

This team is good enough to beat Fulham. Ole fielded worse teams with a young Andreas, Lingard, Young at fullback, and got results.

The best option is to let Erik go now and give his replacement the rest of the season to assess the squad and determine exactly what is needed to be done in the summer window.
 
He can have no complaints if he’s sacked. The manner how we exited the CL group stage is a hard stain to remove.

I can’t see him finishing the season personally and there will be some caretaker who’ll take a small number of games at the end of the season (McClaren maybe?). INEOS seem like they’re not taking prisoners and I get the feeling in their eyes Arnold, Murtough and ETH have fecked it all up between themselves.
 
The last bit of hope from me was that we would get better with creating patterns of play if the team spent more time on the training pitch by having one game a week - lmaooo

I think Tuchel represents a far more attacking mindset than most. His Dortmund and Chelsea sides in particular, spring to mind. Ditching ETH would also allow us to do a massive deadwood player exodus this summer, which will be good for all parties involved.

The "good run" has been streaky runs against weak opposition. The only half decent team in the run was Villa, and they struggled against Forest today as their surprise season is turning.
 
I’ve always defended him on the amount of injuries, but surely even with players missing we should somewhat resemble a football team?

It' because his philosophy is basically to tailor the system to the abilities of the players. Which is just stupid. As soon as he loses his first choice team the whole thing falls apart.

And he's completely unwilling to change his stupid philosophy either, that's something that should cost him his job.

Abandon the midfield. Push players high and wide. Overload the wings and the attack, and hope the 1 guy in the middle can be press resistant, progress the ball and stop counters
 
He's had his chance and the football is just dire. He must have had a big say in reguilon going back and fernandez going to benfica. That's scandalous mismanagement

Totally agree, there is no flexibility it's a shitshow. There are no alternative tactics to adjust to who is or not available.

You build a system and recruit players to fit into the system, not the other way around. A better system is what we need first, better players come after that. This manager will not do that and he needs to go now.
