Is there a way to get more out of Antony?

I have great faith that Antony will prove valuable to us. Just be patient with regard to him. He does have a lot of raw talent.

Did that seem like a bit of a nasty move by ETH ??
I didn’t think there was any malice in that sub, but I almost wish there was because it would have been better than what the actual substitution was for: Erik throwing on an attacking player with no time left after they had gone down again instead of using it when he may have had a chance to make an impact on the game.

Most managers keep subs for later in the game. Pep sometimes doesn't use any of his.

Lindelof injured himself, that's the only reason he was thrown on, TBH next game I think Antony might be our LB

Managers want to bring in "their" players when they sign for a club.
The record signing of Antony makes Moyes' signing of Fellaini look like a thrift-e-mart signing

There is no debate. It's not up for discussion. Anyone disagreeing is just playing Devil's Advocate.

Worst signing of all time. He's one of the worst players we've ever had and cost nearly 100 mil.

I wanted to add something facetious like "hopefully he makes a good cup of tea or something" but Ill try and be constructive. Maybe he could play as a left back? He'd be fast, he works hard, has a good left foot.

Probably wouldn't be much worse than lindelof.

Considering how garancho has looked better on the right and ten hag likely going to just stick to playing rashford as striker instead of trying false 9 and him not favouring amad that much, why not give Antony one more chance but on the left wing, we have little to lose at the moment in terms of attacking options

To be fair, felliani was a decent signing, he looked so horrible because he came right after SAFs great team got dismantled and expectation was high those days. The man tried and tried, you can't say the same about most of our current squad now even with expectations are all time low.

If we played him on the left then it just encourages us to cross it all the time since he’s one footed and what’s the point in crossing when Rashfords gonna be the number 9 who hides away from headers. I’d give this a miss. Our game play is awful as it is without encouraging cross after cross after cross.

What about low driven ground based crosses and cutbacks?

Have you seen Antony play? How many times does he try and cut it back. He just loves shooting on his left. And as I said before we’re having to play Rashford upfront who doesn’t bust a gut to get into the box so who’ll be getting on the end of the low crosses?

You would hope we would have more than just rashford in the box when we are attacking that close to the opposition box surely?

Ye sure but as the main ST. You need someone making them runs to the near post. Rashford isn’t that man. Similar to how Hojlund scored against wolves.

It takes away his only move though. Cutting in on his left.

The title should be " Is there a way of getting Antony out?"

Left back. Being serious. He's tenacious and can keep the ball in tight touchline spaces.
He has no experience defending, so would be caught out of position a lot, easily dribbled past and fail to properly align with the rest of the back line. He’s also quite slow, so would get roasted by wingers that are fast over longer distances.

It would be a disaster.

Ashley Young and Valencia had zero back 4 experience before they were converted. Same as Jesus Navas and Lucas Vazquez.

I agree about the pace though. He’s finished then.

I really wanted us to sign him though, I have to be honest. Exciting at Ajax and Brazil.

The fee ruined it for me. Ridiculous amount of money for a young unproven player, which is on the club. ETH doesn’t agree fees or have any say in that part.

I also really don’t think all the drama around his ex gf has helped him either. (It’s still ongoing). Really bad luck on that part.
