Even if we beat these cnuts we're effectively handing the title to Liverpool. Talk about double edged swords
With 11 games to play that puts them 4 clear we are handing the title to Liverpool ? :houllier:City can just beat them at Anfield Liverpool have half a team missing. Also we can beat them in April.

Have seen a few of these sort of posts and some of Ole's comments and soon we'll start longing for the Ole days!
I've slowly been getting there. Ten Hag is making me reminisce about the good ol' times under Solskjaer. And I distinctly remember hating those times. A damning indictment, if I have ever seen one.

Solskjaer, for all his faults is a better manager than Ten Hag. At least there was a plan and a way of playing. His biggest mistake and his ultimate undoing was agreeing to the Ronaldo comeback. The team was just fine before Ronaldo rejoined and messed everything up. Also his incredible naivety and his refusal to drop big name underperformers did him in too. Solskjaer with more of a spine would still be manager today.

Kompany came on Rio's channel and they chatted about their experiences of derby. From a United fan perspective, it was sad.

Kompany talked about his first derby facing Ronaldo, Rooney, and Tevez and how helpless he felt. He mentioned after the game that they didn't look like they broke a sweat and that was the most depressing thought.
He then spoke about subsequent games where we still won with last gasp winners, but he could feel the tide turning.
And then he described how it felt since Sir Alex left. He categorically said they looked forward to it because our game suited them i.e. no coordinated press, relying on individuals and he mentioned that playing that way against Pep with the high quality players he has, you have no hope.

I do like Kompany though, through all this, he never sounded arrogant or disrespectful, was just stating facts.

In 2009 we lost Ronaldo and Tevez and replaced them with Obertan and Owen. Sure, we still had Rooney and Berbatov but over next few transfer windows (last ones under Fergie) we didn't strengthen properly and won mostly because of Ferguson. When he retired, reality hit us.

It is sad but interesting story so thank you for sharing it.

We can and we will beat them tomorrow. We've been in worse situations before and we've found a way to beat them.

Right. For those not minding losing against City because it hands the title to Liverpool I can only say WTAF???

I don’t want City or Liverpool to win it and Arsenal are still in the mix.

Never I have read such a whingeing throw in the towel lot of drivel in my life. I’m embarrassed for you all.

Can't decide which would spell more trouble for us, playing Evans at CB so Lindelof can cover LB, or playing Lindelof at CB and needing Amrabat to cover at LB.

I think De Bruyne is going to pick us apart with his world class through balls and Haaland is going to have Evans (or Lindelof, who are we kidding) for lunch.

Maybe by some miracle we can shithouse a red card out of them early and ruin the match before they can get going.

If we are to get anything out of this game, we're going to have to ride our luck quite a bit as we get dominated from start to finish. It might be enjoyable in retrospect if we avoid a defeat, but I'm not looking forward to watching this one. City have been off in a few games this season but they rarely have an off day against us.

Need to sit back, pack the midfield with energy and hit on the break. Play big McT up front.

Ten Haag doesn't have the balls for it though so will do his usual play Eriksen in midfield and lose by 3.

If ten Hag plays a 4231, he should go with:

    Forson
    Rashford Bruno Garnacho
    McTominay Mainoo
    Amrabat Lindelof Maguire Dalot
    Onana

We will play it like the Liverpool away game. 11 men behind the ball holding on. They’ll get around the sides of us and eventually punish us but I think it won’t be a pasting. Everyone we are trying to catch got results today too. A draw is the best we can hope to get out of this with the players we have available and our counter attacking players looking really laboured and predictable. We live in hope but city are on a different planet to us at the moment.

    If we want to try something new or different - then here is one way to go;

    ------------------------Onana
    ------Lindelöf Varane Evans Dalot
    ------Casemiro Mainoo Amrabat
    -----------------Bruno McTominey
    ----------------------Rashford

Or we play a 4231 like usual but up with McTominey very high up the field, helping Rashford, Bruno and Garnacho with the pressing, stay close to Rodri and not give him any time and space to drop down and pick up the ball so he can carry it up the field through the mid and making passes the will cut through are defense, they will probably try to play in the space behind our midfield where Foden, Silva and De Bryune will operate.

He will also need to act like a false 9 when we pass up the ball, or have a goal kick - but also be the target player who we need to win a lot of air duels for us on Citys half of the pitch so we can try to keep some possession in the final third while we move up the team. Dalot can join our attacks on the right side while Bruno cuts in and Garnacho will be the our attack from the left.

    ------------------------Onana
    --------Dalot Varane Lindelöf Amrabat
    ---------------Casemiro Mainoo
    --------Bruno McTominey Garnacho
    ---------------------Rashford

    So would look something like this when we attack;

    -----------------Onana
    ----Varane Lindelöf Ambrabat
    --------------Casemiro
    ------Bruno----------------Mainoo
    --------------McTominey
    ----Dalot-----------------Garnacho
    ---------------Rashford

    And when defending:

    --------------------------Onana
    --------Dalot Varane Lindelöf Amrabat
    ---------------Bruno Casemiro Mainoo
    --------Rashford McTominey Garnacho

At least under Ole I thought we had a chance to defend and counter well even if I fecking hated it because he was unable to coach how to play out of the press.

Under Ten Hag now I’m just dreading watching Bruno suck for the 100th time in a big game, Casemiro get ghosted by like he isn’t there, and McTominay coming on to do nothing but a Fellaini impression while we stupidly try to press and get cut apart.

I don’t think he was unable, neither were Carrick, McKenna, Phelan or Ramsay. Rather I think he was pragmatic enough to realise our players can’t do it. He was dealing with Maguire, Lindelof, Fred, McTominay etc… mostly Mourinho players and he didn’t coach to play out either.

It is embarrassing and mind boggling. I see the likes of 115 fc as the greatest evil in this sport, let alone the fact that they are still technically our local rivals, let alone the fact of ever wanting our team to lose and just give up. This whole we need to lose to prevent Liverpool winning narrative, I can never quite get, regardless of any circumstance. We strive to be our best, if others are better (which they are on their own merit and spirit and not through cheating), then they deserve it.

I wouldn't say it's mind-boggling. Compare Guardiola and Klopp. Guardiola has generally had the upper hand against United, but he's always been respectful of the club, despite the media constantly baiting him into making sly digs. Klopp on the other hand needs no encouragement to make snide remarks.

Football is ruled by money. Manchester City are part of that but it's not as if they are to blame for it. If any other club had the financial clout that City have, they would operate in exactly the same way.

The way United feel about City and the rivalry is similar to how Liverpool would feel if Everton suddenly started winning trophies. The rivalry still has a historic basis, and that basis shows that United is still the more successful club.

Relax. It's just a way of coping with what seems to be an inevitable defeat. It's not like our fans are turning up on match day wearing blue.

Be lucky to get away with a 4-0 defeat... not expecting us to have any shots (of worth) on target

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
City haven't been at their best this season. We absolutely could win today, as we have done a few times in the list few years. Every time we play them we predict the worst, but there's been a number of occasions that they've under performed against us (though sometimes still win).

I expect he'll park the bus in a big way today and just look for the counters. As with every game he does this, it will be a complete lottery and maybe we nick it. A goal within the first 20 minutes for City and it'll be a demolition. But if we keep it tight you never know.

All I want to see today is 100% effort. That’s it. Is it too much to ask?
From who? When is the last time you saw 100% effort for 90mins from every Utd player?
I would say at least 10 years ago.

I'll sweat more watching the game today than Rashford will.

People on here can complain about the negativity in this thread, but the reality is City are eons ahead of us and we're in the throes of an injury ridden, underperforming, uninterested, overrated, overaged, overplayed, undermanaged, undercoached, uninspiring, incapable Utd team that just don't seem bothered.

Heavy weight on Garnacho and Mainoo's shoulders today & its an unfair expectation on them to produce magic when they're carrying the entire club on their young shoulders.

Genuinely think we can sneak a draw here. City have been average vs big teams this year and no one gave us a chance at Anfield either. We'll hit them on the counter and maybe sneak in a draw ;)
Were not a big team. Not near it.

We are the Lord Farquaad of the PL. Big horse , big fanfare, not much in the way of substance.

    City should win comfortably.

We were expected to lose 8-0 against them at Anfield and we got a draw. Anything can happen . Which is why I think today will actually be a close game.
