i'd say never change a running system
Im hoping that in Saliba, Gabriel and Rice, we’re a bit stronger down the defensive spine than when our spine was made up of the likes of Mustafi, Koscielny, Gabriel Paulista and Coquelin!

Edit: At full back we had the likes of Kieran Gibbs, Bellerin, Debuchy, Jenkinson across the games. Bayern had the likes of Lahm and Alaba at full back. Honestly, what was Wenger thinking at times back then?! :houllier:

Do we have the specific date for the matches. I'm hoping Arsenal vs Bayern
City vs Madrid are on different days

Oil rich Champions league final looks on the cards. Everything that's wrong with the sport if that's the final

Arguably the best team vs 2nd best, 3rd best vs 4th best, 5th best vs 6th best, and worst vs 2nd worst?

Made for an extremely interesting draw where every tie is as even as possible.

The first was actually quite tight, in 2012/13 we lost the first leg 1-3 at home but actually went to Munich and won 0-2 to get put out in away goals.
But to be honest Bayern dominated both of the games. The 0-2 could also have been a 4-2 and the second goal was in the 87. minute or something.
Kroos was so good in both games.

Logic says it will be this (for tv markets purposes):

City vs R.Madrid & Atletico vs Dortmund
Bayern vs Arsenal & PSG vs Barcelona

Bayern-Arsenal is bad news for Villa/Spurs. If Bayern go through, England lose another club to rack up the points while Germany would extend its lead over them. So is City getting Real.
Yeah well if you rely on a 5th place spot and a English team to win the CL to get into the CL, you don’t have much to stand on anyway

This would be my guess, and I left out Bayern vs Arsenal as I am bias obviously.

All very open ties, with all the 4 best teams on one side of the draw in City vs. RM and Arsenal vs. Bayern. Whoever gets to the final between them will be heavy favourites in the final. City best team, the other three close behind. Totally open between the other 4.

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid both have the first leg at home. There could be some potential issues of having two CL matches in Madrid on the same day.

The CL is a glorified FA Cup set to music

What's really gross is that City will have faced Real Madrid more times in Europe than us by the end of the quarter-finals

All down to being taken over by an authoritarian state and shamelessly cheating their way to the top
What?

Cup winners cup
Tie with Ronaldo hat trick
Tie with Redondo magic
Tie with Nani red card

Have City exceeded that? Last 2 seasons and the Covid tie come to mind

They also had Madrid in a pretty forgettable CL SF in 2015/16 and they had each other in the group stages in City's earlier CL days one year too.

The Arsenal - Bayern and R. Madrid - City ties are confirmed to be on the same day.

That's a bit of a shame but I suppose they are just keeping the ties facing each other in the SF on the same day.

According to this site, it's going to happen

https://www.11v11.com/teams/manchester-united/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Real Madrid/

https://www.11v11.com/teams/manchester-city/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Real Madrid/

Looked it up after seeing them draw each other for the 3rd season in a row, and yeah, it's pretty grim

Thought that Leipzig loss would be their last shot under Simeone, would be brilliant if he finally wins it tbh
I really hope not. The most boring and dreadful football there is.

Liverpool will win Europa League, Villa the Conference League I'd say. Uefa has it 90% probability of 5th getting it atm.
Not UEFA, it’s OPTA…. And the probability went down from 83 to 71 after the draw.

They havent confirmed the fixture dates yet but its highly likely the 2 English clubs will play on different days for TV reasons.

City has a brutal schedule compared to us. Zero reason to not take advantage, Carlo better have them running like maniacs the way Klopp did and stop doing dumb shite like Kroos as DM and Modric next to him. Our best chance is at the SB.

Very impressive for Czech league to be 7th, ahead of Turkey and Portugal
It's not *that* surprising giving that Portugal still divides the points by 6 while Czechia divides by 4.
Note this is just the ranking of this year, not of the last 5 years.

Portugal has 6 teams in theory but it's always 4 de facto as the two "weaker" ones are eliminated immediately - hence our amazing record in the conference league until now: 0 presences in the group stage in 3 years, even the Faroe Islands put someone there this year  .
We dropped in the ranking to 7th so we'll start dividing only by 5 so we'll start rising in the ranking I hope (and hopefully for us the Netherlands will start dividing by 6 which will make them go down).

Yeah let's have a draw system instead where the best 2 or 3 clubs can face each other in the final every year. That's so exciting right.
Until United are back in the mix, yeah, as a neutral I'd prefer to see the best clubs in the world play each other in the final.
