Given we’ve yet to win a game in our horrendous green deck chair strip, and coupled with how utterly shit we are, I can’t see any lurching other than even Chelsea scoring a couple with their 20+ chances they will get.
Drop Bruno, drop Rashford and give ourselves a chance.

The worst part about these games is ETH’s post-match pressers, where he remains in denial that his team needs a proper shake up. There is nothing wrong in finding positives but when you get outplayed by inferior opposition, there is no room for ‘what if’s’.
I’m going for a poor quality draw or us to scrape an underserved win and ETH to beat his chest like we just won the CL.

FA Cup final rehearsal perhaps? This used to be a tasty fixture but now it's two troubled teams with average Managers hoping that one of their players will have a worldy. We can't even sing the traditional songs anymore. Unless there's a magical return to some sort of form, I can't see us getting anything. Rashford should be dropped and Amad picked.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
Hopefully they turn up like last time with zero energy and looking like they'd rather be at home on the sofa. They obviously still had huge chances, which is a given at this point, but other than that they gave us one of our easiest games of the season.

We should try a midfield of Mainoo, Casemiro and Mount. Brings a bit more balance and there should be consequences for Bruno’s dog shite performances all season.

I would like to see that but ETH will never drop Bruno

Rest players for Sunday. Remaining league games don't matter, denting Liverpool's title hopes is best we can expect.

Weirdly we aren't as far off top 5 as you think.

We are with this lot. Zero consistency when it comes to playing well over the course of 3-5 matches. I don't see us making up the gap at this stage.

Only a hipster or a Liverpool fan cares about an alternative table
No one cares about an xg table but it’s still a helpful guide to performance. This isn’t a match where the fact we are 8 points ahead of them should give us any confidence of success.

It’s time to test out whether ETH can make his system work with his players in place so:

    Onana

    Dalot
    Varane
    Martinez
    Amrabat

    Mainoo

    Bruno
    Mount

    Garnacho
    Hojlund
    Antony

We should then be able to tell if ETH does actually have a system and it’s just the players holding him back.

Smart money will probably be on draw. Last three Man United v Chelsea results in Stamford Bridge was draws.

    October 2022 - 1-1
    November 2021 - 1-1
    Feb 2021 - 0-0

The days of "easy wins" in Premier League by a Man United team especially in away match is as rare as hens teeth.

On another note why isn't this match played Wednesday night instead of Thursday?

He's not gonna drop Bruno, or Bruno is going to release the photographs he has of Erik to the press.

I can see him starting Mount and Casemiro and resting Mainoo and McT.

    Bruno as ever remains untouchable.

TNT Sports are the only UK broadcaster televising the fixtures for this gameweek and they've decided to spread them out over Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday so people can watch more games.

Mathematically we're still in the top 5 hunt -- it wasn't that long ago that we aspired to be in the top 4 hunt, but this is where we are now -- but it's hard to see is closing the gap unless there's a dramatic upturn in form that's frankly nearly impossible to imagine coming to fruition.

All we can reasonably expect at this point is that we don't lose grip of our hold on 6th place. A win over Chelsea should just about ensure that Moyes -- yes, David Moyes -- doesn't catch us.

    Don't taze me, bro
Mount and Amad for Bruno and Rashy, please

Poor performances should have consequences. Desperate to see us try something else with a few players more comfortable in possession

CL is gone, we can claim it’s rest for Liverpool, so what’s the harm?

I heard today (unconfirmed!) that Villa and Spurs each have to play Arsenal, City and Liverpool. Is this true? If so it makes the whole thing much more interesting.

The thought of suffering through another Thursday evening Europa campaign is nauseating. I hope we manage to clinch 5th place.

Very difficult situation, and playing both Chelsea and Liverpool in 4 days (plus B'mouth away) may be the define games of our PL.

I don't think miracle can happens twice, so I expect us to lose on Sunday, meaning that if we want points we have to win this one.

Nevertheless, I see Chelsea better offensively than we are defensively, and I see us equal offensively than them defensively. So they have anyway an advantage.

We can tweak tactics, players etc, the thing is we are out of confidence, poor tactically and really unbalanced.

I struggle to remember a game this late on in the season between these two teams that means so little for either side.

I'm going to need one of the Men In Black style memory wipers after Brentford to get remotely excited about this game or the game at the weekend.

I mean it could be a case where the loser gets sacked at the end of the season. There's always that narrative, but no silverware obviously.
I think both managers could consider themselves very lucky if they're still in charge next season but yeah, potential to be deemed El Sackio in the media.

Just win this and give us some hope that can be smashed by Liverpool. That would be the normal course of actions at the time

Our lineup doesn’t really seem to matter anymore it’s same inept tactics and pretty much same performance level week in week out. In our favour is that Chelsea are very capable of making us look good or failing to make us pay for all the shots and chances every team has against us.

The league games now are just about trying not to finish lower than sixth which feels like it’s 50/50 at the moment.
