And I'm all out of bubblegum.
Would be a different game with this simulator. Say we have 10 players from redcafe: could we take the i.e. 1996 campaign as a basis and each player could form their own squad, say everybody has 350 (dunno, number pulled off my ass) skill points (overall points, not potential) to spend and PM you/gamegod their selected roster. Then those 10 teams (would be edited NBA franchises) play that ai-simulated campaign - downside is there would be lots of cloned Jordans and what not but maybe that's still fun or - that's what I thought about at first - a kind of drafting system, bit like the fantasy football one here, where we'd pick players one after each other. but maybe that's too much micro managing.

No idea if that'd be fun. It would be over much quicker too.
Yes I think that would be possible. We could start in 1996, but it's also possible to start a "Legends" mode, where each team has their historically best players on it. Then I could just God Mode you guys into the league, and maybe find some way of doing the draft. Alternatively, there's a "Fantasy Draft" option you can do with God Mode, where all players get into a draft.

There are possibilities here. We'll see if I run one at some point after this one is done.

A GM-style fantasy draft with all-time players would be like a simulated forum draft. We did an NBA one years ago.

It's heartening to see Skizzo adhering to the tradition of "reserve the second post even if you definitely won't use it".

That's interesting though. We could surely do something like that, though it would probably be take a while if we had as many sign-ups as for this (though this is less involved, so maybe some just wouldn't be bothered). There would also be a question of how to display the options, since a) not everyone knows every basketball player in history and b) whatever rating the game assigns a player might not be what you would have given them. I guess I could feasibly just take screenshots of the top x players (40-ish at a time maybe?), sorted by overall rating.

It's an interesting thought, maybe we'll try it after this is done. That might not be anytime soon, though.

Checked out the caf NBA thread (for the first time) and surprised that really none of those NBA heads plays on here. Also have to admit that I just caught up a bit with the contemporary game. That Wemby guy...height: 100.

I still have plans to go back and use it for a grand reveal.

And I'm all out of bubblegum.
07/08 All Star Weekend

First, the updated standings. The @altodevil Lakers are still looking extremely strong in the West, currently on a 15 win streak. @The Cat's Timberwolves are looking quite good as well, though getting past the Lakers might be a bridge too far this year. In the East @hobbers and the Bobcats are looking significantly stronger than previous seasons. His challenge will be that there are loads of good teams in the East; 1-6 in the East would all have been 2nd in the West. The playoffs are beginning to look out of reach for @Skizzo's Supersonics, @oneniltothearsenal's Heat, @Dr. Dwayne's Pacers @Stobzilla's Spurs and @Samid's Cavaliers. Everyone else is in with a shout of making it.

Dunk Contest - no surprises

3 Point Contest - familiar faces in @reelworld, @P-Nut, @Samid, @V.O., @Solius and @BenitoSTARR.

1st Round - 4 advance

Kyle Korver: 26
Beno Udrih: 24

22 is probably not enough for reelworld.

V.O. now needs neither of Solius/BenitoSTARR to score higher than 24, and thus force a tiebreak at 24.

V.O. is out! BenitoSTARR needs at least 25.

That means a tiebreak round for Solius and P-Nut. Solius really loves his tiebreak rounds.

It'll be Solius, Samid, BenitoSTARR and Kyle Korver in the 2nd Round. Kyle Korver has defeated a bunch of Cafites before, is he going to do it again?

2nd Round - 2 advance

Kyle Korver: 29

Pressure is on for our lads!

25 isn't enough for Samid! Is it going to be BenitoSTARR or Solius to face Kyle 'Kafite Killer' Korver in the final round?

It's Solius!

Final Round

Kyle Korver: 24

Not great shooting by Korver, Solius has already bettered that three times today! Is he going to tie BenitoSTARR's 4 contest wins?

No! What a low-scoring final round. That means Kyle Korver has won the contest twice in the Cafite Era.

All Star Game

Record low Cafite participation in the West, probably because most of you are in the East. The one big surprise absence is perhaps The Cat, who has been making an appearance the last few years (in both this and the NBA Final). @P-Nut and @altodevil are the repeats.

It's a different story in the East, and here's another good indication of the relative strength levels of the conferences this year. There are three players with ratings in the 60s on the East, while it's most of the team in the West. The East Cafites are @BenitoSTARR, @hobbers, @Solius, @oneniltothearsenal, @Samid, @Dr. Dwayne and @V.O..

My guy will probably be in his 60s by the time he drops below 60 rating.

Has there ever been a father and son in the NBA at the same time.
