If ten Hag was sacked tonight, who would you have as an interim?

Ole coming back winning a trophy would be a fairytale. Fairytales don’t happen though.
Him coming back will be a nightmare more like. He’s the reason Rashford and co developed their couldn’t give a shit attitude and lost all sense of discipline.
A great player, actually not that great a player just a goal scorer who was used mainly as a sub and an absolute liability as a manager.

This thread was started as a hypothetical question, but yeah, it's 100% not happening.
If it's hypothetical I would go for Brian Clough. He never won it, he would be delighted to have another go and the interviews for the build up would be Mourinho on LSD * 100 and I miss him.

Keane until the end of the season would be absolutely amazing. Seeing him tear all the wasters a new one.

In reality it would be Mclaren.
Keane would be hilarious with this team, it's true. At least it might give us all some light relief in a season of darkness.

We are not a serious club at all. Given the comments, why not grow a clone of Sir Alex and have him coach. Just as likely as the names so far. The club will not let him go until the end of the season, then him & haw for two weeks when we don’t get anyone worthy. I see Tuecal in our future. Just bloody bleak

Ye Keane gives it the talk but I don’t remember him doing to well with Sunderland and Ipswich.

Ask the poster that brought it up. Yes, all teams play under the same conditions, but those conditions favour the mentally fragile.
am I the only person who sees the contradiction here??
So favorable conditions don't favour the mentally strong???

He's obviously getting sacked at the end of the season so it's a bit pointless, this thread.

Ruud won the Dutch cup last year came second in the league will think, he’s got a chance of getting the job full time because of his arrogance, has his pro licences and will understand Eric’s crazy Dutch formation so he’ll hopefully be able to change it plus he’ll have a huge impact on our strikers who don’t make the right runs or convert their chances.
Ruud Van Nistelroy and RVP as his assistant might be a decent interim solution.

Doesnt cost you a calorie to be a bit respectful
Honestly, fans of today just want to take and offer little to nothing back in return. Former players and managers gave us joy, excitement, and a bucket full of life time memories, and yet we cannot show them a little respect in return.

Bringing in Keane for 7 games would be the perfect personification of the build a bonfire chant.

He was cowardly in some of his managerial decisions.

or

His decision to not make any changes till the 100th minute in the Europa final was cowardly.

Or

His set-up was cowardly in important games and showed he was too afraid to lose.

Let me know which one doesn't trigger you and I'll change it accordingly.

Fans don't care about super cups. Fans don't care about LC trophy. Fans don't care about FA cup trophy. Fans don't even want their club playing in EL or Conference league....

That is culture which failed Cardiff manager brought to this club. Smiles all around, good vibes and talk about good old times. And everything is juuuuuuuust fine. Yeah, lets bring him back.
The thread is talking about an interim solution, not a permanent one. It's all hypothetical anyway because Ten Hag will see the season out but it wouldn't make sense to appoint someone who could get the permanent gig on the basis they beat City. The end of Ole's previous tenure here would ensure that wouldn't happen.

The way his time at the club is reflected on is pretty unfair anyway. He was a nearly man, granted, but he certainly wasn't incompetent. We finished 3rd and 2nd in consecutive seasons, better than any other United manager in the last decade. We had several good results against Pep's City team with him in charge, got to an FA Cup final and David de Gea was largely responsible for the Europa League final loss.

The love in for Ole is absolutely hilarious.

Guy was absolutely shite, won nothing, and his last season he managed 1.41 points per game before getting fired; even during this absolute shit show of a season we have 1.56 points… let that sink in.
Ole even managed to feck up a Cup final versus a mid-table Spanish club.

. And he has been the most successful manager statistically incl Fergie against Pep.
Most successful United manager? Cause Klopp is by far the most successful with 12 wins and 11 losses. Conte has a plus record against him too.
Ole’s also statistically the worst Manchester United manager since Fergie in cup finals and in gaining Silverware.

You're talking about a difference of 1 win and comparing a bad 12 games at Ole's worst to a horrendous 32.

Ole had us playing far better even though he was average himself.

Unfortunately Tom, some of the posts I've sent in have been ridiculed as
'whining', and 'bo*****s', just because I have a different view to them.
Respect seems to have been forgotten in these times.

Those 12 bad games weren’t suddenly turning around, the shit show continued, he’s fortunate he got fired then so posters can still pretend he did ok.
If ETH got fired after 12 games this season we could have all pretended it also.
Ole’s team was horrendous, and he got fired after a few absolute spankings that showed we were going in one direction.

Pffffft, you have to learn to toe the company line mate: It's "2nd place and one penalty kick from winning a European trophy".

Seriously though, our fans are fecking weirdos when it comes to managers. I doubt you get any Liverpool fans creaming themselves over Rodgers years later, despite the fact that he actually had them playing really good stuff for a period of time.

I expect if the next man fails, the ETH fans will be saying "3rd place, 3 finals and a cup". There's ways to dress up a-lot of our former managers as being semi-successful by carefully wording their "achievements" while totally leaving out any context.

Ammmm, you could argue that that PPG would have significantly decreased had he stayed on...

It’s mind boggling, you’ve got leftback here backing him because my point was just 12 games, but missing the fact that it was 12 games with no injury crisis; and no-one one watched the wretched side get twatted v Leicester, Liverpool and Watford can believe they were suddenly going to massively improve under Ole.
So even with a massive injury crisis and dog shit chaos ball, this failing manager at his worst is still better than the last guy at his worst. And at his best he managed a trophy and a better points tally.
So he’s fecking shite don’t get me wrong, but at his worst he’s better than Ole and at his best he was better.

Absolutely bizarre fans we have, imagine Liverpool fans pining for a bit more Souness?

The funniest thing is: Had ETH made the EL Final last season and lost to Villareal on penos, it would 100% be used as a stick to beat him with (and rightly so). Yet, Ole is praised for bringing plucky Man Utd within a penalty kick of beating the mighty Villareal side that cost less than 1 Harry Maguire (if I remember correctly at the time). The agendas are strong on here.

He made some fans feel warm and cosy, that is his redeeming feature.
He like all the rest post Fergie, was shite.
I desperately wanted ETH, but my God you won’t find me pining for him or hoping he comes back as interim if the next guy is a shit show. He has failed, he’s been shite, simples.

That's the crux of it really. I desperately wanted him too. But, he's been wank and absolutely deserves to go. You won't find me dressing up his tenure as anything other than a failure. Even if he somehow wins the FA Cup, he still absolutely has to go.

If our fans could leave the agendas aside and stop being so weird and obsessive about our managers, this place wouldn't be nearly as divisive. I wouldn't try and defend any of them. They've all been shite to varying degrees.

Yep it was in the end and he got rightly fired, just like Ten Hag should have done months ago after spending £400m and making us even worse than Ole's worst.

Id rather you took a moment to reflect on why being asked to remain respectful towards a club figure that was part of the modern golden era under Fergie gets you so riled up that you had to post something to snarky.

True, better performance, better underlying numbers, better possession stats. Shame he wasn't bald or was hot name before we hired him.

We are 20th in shots conceded, competing with Luton, Fulham for goals scored. Worst in attack and defense, must be a new low.

But can get a 2nd and 3rd finish in the Premier League....that is a hell of a lot more than most.

Stone age, no wonder EtH still have some support.

Also table said 2nd and 3rd position. Will EtH ever finish 2nd with ManUtd? Maybe if he relegate us this season.

Chris Sutton, he is obviously the man, he knows everything about United, his comments every day seem to be advice on how to run the club.
