Spurs will likely lose to Liverpool and City, and beat Sheffield and Burnley. So 66 points is the likely level for 5th.

I think we'll draw with Palace, lose to Arsenal, draw with Newcastle, and beat Brighton. 59 points.

Newcastle will win their three matches besides us and finish on 63 points.

Chelsea will draw with West Ham and win their other three, to finish on 61.

Yeah, so I'm thinking 8th for us at the moment.

We have a terrible record at Brighton, so a draw and 57 points finish, one worse than our worst ever from 2 years ago is very much on the cards.

Although I expect us to lose against Newcastle, so it could be worse.

Irrespective of the final positions at the end of the season, if both Chelsea and Newcastle win their games this weekend, we'll already be sitting in 8th place before we next kick a ball (Palace on Monday night).

Yup. We’ll finish no higher than 8th and get no European football. I can easily see us losing all four of our remaining games.

Not that I think it'll happen but finishing 8th is definitely better, as this way we can only get Europa league through the FA cup and Nice will then play Conference League.

It'll also be funny if Newcastle get bumped down to the third tier, even after finishing above us in the league (which I think will happen).

Wouldn't be too bad if we win just 1 out of last 4 games at this rate.

Newcastle got to go to Burnley (can still stay up and in good form), us and Brentford so could more points. Chelsea should have best ending to the season with their fixtures, though I do hope Forest and Bournemouth can make it difficult for them.

Palace are in really good form which isn't ideal so getting a win there which we haven't done since 19/20 season will be extremely difficult for our current side. We won't beat Brighton away in last game of the season either most probably and then there's Arsenal and Newcastle where we're at home but against possible champions and teams we've struggled against in recent seasons.

Could be 7th to match our worst league finish in last 34 years or even 8th to make it our worst finish in that period. We put 6th in danger with that 1-1 draw vs Burnley the other day.

Pope, Joelinton and Almiron all back on the Newcastle bench today after long spells out injured.

I geniunely hoped Burnley could get a result against Newcastle today. They've only lost 1 in last 8 and Newcastle haven't looked great away from home. But that is gone now. Seems like we'll finish at best 7th or even 8th if Chelsea do well in their remaining games and they should given the opponents and them being in decent form.

I can see us losing all the remaining games and that says it all. We probably won't but also possible we don't win another game until the end which is bad enough.

If we lose the cup final and finish 8th, do we miss out on Europe completely?
Yes. Not sure but think that could happen even if we finish 7th and don't win the cup. 5th goes to Europa, 6th to ECL. Not sure if things change if Villa win the Conference League.

It worse to finish in the ECL than being out of Europe all together!

Contrary to popular belief the Europa Conference league isn't full of farmers and pub teams. Playing Olympiakos, Fiorentina or Lille in a two legged tie would expand a decent level of energy.

So I can see that argument. You've still got Thursday-Sunday for many league fixtures next season and ultimately it's a competition where winning it doesn't lead to CL qualification as Europa league does.

Well finish 8th or 9th now, the players don’t want midweek football, their frail bodies can’t handle it and watch how they play in the next 4 games, not even the long walk as losers last year in the cup final will motivate this lot!

The sooner the season ends the better!
And if they are giving ETH a chance then you hope he gets 10 PL games with the ultimatum if he has not got a 60% win rate and 2pts a game he should be sacked ?

No currently 1-4th CL
5-6th EL if Man United do not win FA Cup
7th Gets ECL because Liverpool won the Carabo cup.

Tbe additional spots will now go to Italy and Germany for next season which means wrestling that extra spot back with Villa in the CL and maybe Newcastle and spurs in EL and Chelsea in ECL is very difficult. The PL needs a strong United and Chelsea and asap or the Shl idea of the 5th spot will become a nonsense!

Right now the EPL looks like the true Farmers League !

Even if we win 1 and draw 1 out of our last 4 games, Chelsea only have to win 2 out of their last 4 to finish above us on goal difference (unless we clock up a massive hat full of goals in that solitary win).

We'll have a clearer idea tomorrow, after Chelsea's home match against WHU.

Yeah can’t see anything but 8th now. I’m actually struggling to see us win one of our remaining games. It’s been a horrendous cluster feck of a season…we are turd even with all our players fit.

Lowest ever PL finish in 32 seasons incoming.......8th :houllier:
Yeah. And even when we finished 7th in 13/14 it was with 64 points - 64 points in most seasons get you 5th or 6th place finish. Now we're on 54 with 4 games to go and it'll actually be a challenge to get to 58 points we had in 21/22. Possible Fa Cup win won't save the season, it's been that bad.

8th or 9th
We aint finishing 9th. West Ham got to play at Chelsea and City in their last 3. Even if they get positive results in those games it'll still be difficult for them to finish above us. We're finishing between 6th and 8th and atm 8th seems most likely.

Cant see us getting anything at Palace or against Newcastle. We will beat Arsenal meaning City win the league (just because) and have a crap game vs Brighton who have switched off on final day.

I hope Im wrong but I just cant see us beating Arsenal, they are a much much better team than we are. We would have to play at our best and they would need to really shit the bed for us to get the win.

8th is our level. Would do us good to be out of Europe for a season if it wasn’t for the financial loss. Makes it harder to get top targets too. Oh well, we reap what we sow.

We're not scoring against Arsenal unless they have a massive brainfart.

A few months ago I didn’t think we’d drop below 6th, but now 8th seems nailed on. It’s probably also where we deserve to be. Shambles.

Eighth is now nailed on.

Ouch! Eighth!

On the plus side we have a better goal difference than all the teams below us, so silver lining and all that.

I said here before we are trying to finish 10th. It’s so sad that it seems it actually is our trajectory now. But asking ourselves faithfully, isn’t this what our performance indicates? Our performance shows we are a lower mid table team. We actually overperform result-wise because we have better individuals than the other mid table or lower teams.

I know it will not be good financially, or less games to test the bench players and kids, as if ETH would do that anyway. However this club needs one hell of a rude awakening. This is more than just injuries.

Chelsea blowing West Ham away.
4-0 early in the 2nd half.
We'll be kicking off tomorrow from 8th place in the table.
