No idea why we didn’t get sabitzer and instead went for amrabat. Madness
United are not a well run football club. Very frustrating to watch us sink further and further into irrelevance while the Glazers hoover up our cash and make their plans for the Super League, which we might not even be invited to once the pieces are put into place.

If it weren't very likely that the European cheat code Real Madrid is waiting in the final, I'd say Dortmund has their name on the trophy after their luck/brilliant defending this campaign.

Not too dissimiliar to Porto in 2004
I'd love for that to happen but it seems more to me like the countless times the unfancied team makes it to the final only to lose all too predictably against the big team. A bit like Dortmund themselves did to Bayern in 2013, Real vs Leverkusen or Valencia or Liverpool vs Tottenham. I am afraid Dortmund have no chance at the final but I hope I am wrong.

Congrats to Dortmund, love that they're through, but they're surely the worst CL finalist of the century? At least on paper.

I don't remember how good Porto and Monaco were at the time mind you.

For sure. But changing the club often takes a lot of little steps along with bigger ones, and this is one of the many smaller mistakes that we have to stop making
Yep and from what Mitten and co alluded to on their latest pod, is that Ten Hag ended up taking control because the recruitment team weren't doing their jobs properly. Ashworth, Wilcox and Berrada have to fix this for whoever the manager is, because constantly leaving this responsibility to the manager has just set us back years.

I would say they're on par with Liverpool 2005 and Chelsea 2012.

They had some standouts though, like Drogba, Mata, Lampard for Chelsea and Alonso, Gerrard and Torres at pool. Or wasnt Torres at Pool? I dont remember actually.

I’d back Dortmund to beat Tottenham tbh

On par with Liverpool 2005 if not slightly better. The 2 Chelsea teams that won it were nothing special either.

I think are still stronger than our team and have a lot of talent. They just parked the bus after 70 minutes and did the wrong changes.
Bayern, Leverkusen and RB Leipzig are stronger BL sides though .

No Torres was not see pool back then. Dortmund still have old guard Reus, Hummels, Brandt who are the among the best in Germany.

Those two wins against Paris were nothing out of the ordinary.

They also won the group with Paris, Milan, and Newcastle.

The Chelsea players were well past their prime though, similar to Hummels and Reus right now.

Liverpool I can understand since Reina, Carra, Gerrard and Alonso were high quality players at that time.

Ah right it was Baros. He was pretty good as well though. Suppose they're a bit on par. I'd rate the Chelsea side higher than this though.

No oil in the final makes me happy. Dortmund is going to be a underdog in the final and that might suit them just fine

Feck me were Drogba and Lampard already past their prime 19 years ago? I'm old.

Wait never mind Chelsea werent 2005. I'm going to bed.

If Dortmund win the final, Germany will actually have 6 teams in the CL next season. This is Frankfurt's story just as well now

I don't think it works like that does it? If the team that wins the CL also finish in the CL qualifying places, their spot doesn't go to the next best ranked team, unless they changed the rules?

Frankfurt would probably the team qualifying for the CL that least deserves it in CL history

The moment he put on Reus, I said it would be Dortmund´s downfall. One of the worst sub in CL history. He was an utter shocking disaster in the five minutes of the first game. Now they have lost control of the right side completely, cause Reus is shockingly lazy. No wonder he is a serial loser. Poor mentality. Luckily he got injured before the 2014 World Cup.
I generally feel like you are posting a lot of insightful and sensible stuff but holy hell, what a load of bollocks

You are right. But Dortmund will finish 5th, so outside of the normal CL qualifying places and therefore will qualify as CL winners. The bonus spot for the league gets awarded nonetheless, which would then be the 6th as Dortmund is already qualified.

I see! Thanks for the clarification. 6 teams would be bonkers

I'm biased but Porto was pretty good back then. We had prime Mourinho, Deco and Ricardo Carvalho.

Really? The bonus spot does not count as league qualification?
