I was torn between Mourinho and Zidane. I thought someone might think i was being serious if i picked Mourinho so went for Zidane

Sticking Ten Hag from that list. The single one proven younger manager is Alonso but he is unrealistic. I’d love Zidane but he has no interest.

Give me De Zerbi. Shown what he can do with an inferior squad against the best teams from a performance level. Matching and beating Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Utd, Spurs and Chelsea in the last 18 months
If not, then Postecoglu. Seems like a serious and scary man willing to win in the long term. Also has Spurs post-Kane playing great football dominating the ball against City.
Just don’t get the McKenna shouts. He hasn’t managed in a top flight division yet. It’s like getting Kompany from Burnley last season.

Picked ten Hag, because I don't mind sticking with him, but there some good options out there if we decide to part ways with him
Why not include Pep and Klopp in the list? Alonso isnt a realistic option and he made it onto the list...
I would have gone for Tuchel, but i think McKenna can be able to allow us to build slowly while we clear the squad
I've gone for Tuchel, but don't have a big preference amongst a few of them as I don't think there's a stand out candidate in what's a pretty uninspiring bunch of options really.
All the experienced ones (as regards managing big clubs) with a decent CV seem to be on their way down and so questions over their current level. And all the others come with various degrees of risk / inexperience.

I'd most love to see McKenna succeed here but think he'd probably be the biggest gamble, only having two years of senior management and no experiences of top flight management. So I think it's probably too huge a leap at this early stage of his career.
I've never warmed to Thomas Frank, always thought he comes across as an annoying prick. So in that group of mid level PL experience, I'd put him last below the likes of Potter and De Zerbi. And Southgate and Mourinho would be down there with Frank as ones I definitely don't want.

McKenna is my realistic choice since I don't know enough about Amorim. Tuchel seems like a chaotic guy, but I wouldn't hate it.

I couldn't see the result without voting so gave Southgate one. 
Seriously though I think Tuchel is the best manager on the list but I would be wary of his record of self destructing at clubs and the risk of doing that for short term success over long term success and stability of the club.

From that list of options, Xabi Alonso, surely? He is the outstanding managerial candidate when you consider leadership and gravitas, winning mentality, communication skills, tactical knowledge, age profile and so forth. But he is not a realistic option, unfortunately; and neither is Zinédine Zidane, if certain reports are to be believed.
Considering some of the more realistic options out there, in order of preference...
2017: 41 points, goal difference of -18.
2018: 39 points, goal difference of -12.
2019: 44 points, goal difference of -8.
2020: 47 points, goal difference of -13.
2021: 41 points, goal difference of -14.
2022: 46 points, goal difference of -11.
2023 (Thiago's first season): 54 points, goal difference of +4.
2024 (Thiago's second season): 67 points with 2 games to go, goal difference of +24.

- Thiago Motta: have voted for him, could be a real candidate given the Jean-Claude Blanc link, in a project oriented approach where he progresses along with the squad to emerge as a top manager. He is not a Xabi Alonso caliber of manager in terms of title-winning accomplishments, as of right now — but, they have a lot in common: up-and-coming profile as coaches, accomplished ex-players who are accustomed to the pressures and rigors associated with major clubs (Barcelona, Internazionale and Paris Saint-Germain for Thiago), played in some of the biggest, most high-profile matches (Champions League and European Championship final for Thiago), trained under a multitude of great managers (Ancelotti, Mourinho, van Gaal, Gasperini, Conte et cetera for Thiago), classy and likeable individuals who command respect from all and sundry, former holding midfielders who were renowned for their intelligence and decision-making. Bologna (impressive history but chronic underachievers in the modern era) have definitely trended in the right direction and defied certain odds when you consider the starting point (from 13th in Serie A to 9th and now 3rd (their highest position in almost 60 years)) and their financial capabilities (vis-à-vis clubs like Lazio and Napoli, let alone heavyweights like Juventus and Internazionale).

- Thomas Tuchel: by no means an an ideal candidate and you might argue that he is regressing with time, but he's undoubtedly one of the best, most meticulous and versatile coaches around — and INEOS is specifically looking for someone who is going to be satisfied with the responsibilities and authority of a Head Coach (with big-picture decision-making being handled by the Chief Executive, Sporting Director and Technical Director). Might not prove to be the ultimate solution, but he could organize a competitive and well-drilled unit in the short to medium term (that itself would represent a leap forward).
Not sure why 20 people have voted for a manager who has said he isn’t leaving his current club.

That leaves Amorim, Potter, Southgate, Frank, McKenna, De Zerbi, Mourinho () and Ten Hag. From that list, I'd probably give Amorim a go. 2nd choice would be De Zerbi. We don't need a rookie, we need an experienced set of hands.
Ancelloti would be perfect, but he's not leaving RM, he's building a CL winning side there. Tuchel seems to be the next "big name" flavour of the month but the man failed to win the bundesliga with Bayern and Harry Kane.

He's now likely staying at Bayern (with a contract extension), as per Sky Sports Germany et al.
Its been a tough season. ETH has made mistakes in not playing Amad and Arabat a lot more. Hopefully he sees sticking with big names who are out of form is futile. I have slated him at times. At the same time hes done things i admire, getting rid of Ronaldo, not standing for Sanchos laziness.
The injuries have been horrendous. Worst in my life time and ive been a Red since the 60,s. What would the season have looked like with a defence of Dalot Varane Martinez Shaw most games?
We have been changing the manager regularly since SAF retired, it hasnt worked.

Im saying give ETH another season mainly because my brain keeps telling me, in todays climate Fergie would have been sacked after 3 years. The fans were calling loudly for Fergie to be sacked but the club stuck with him and we had a very long golden era And he became a legend held up with Matt Busby.

Now it sounds like Tuchel will stay (but honestly who knows with the circus that has been Bayern's managerial dealings..) and there is no obvious other short term solution, so yes, Amorim sounds like someone who could be a good hire.

As others have said, poll should be in realms of reality; I'm guilty of going for the make believe option myself, which obscures the point of the poll as I haven't even had to think about the other - realistic - options and their particular pros and cons.
We all want Alonso here but let's be honest, there's more chance of Fergie coming back.

I see there's a change vote option. That's good, as I went for Tuchel - just because I think he's by far the best of the 'experience with big clubs' options that's available, and I'm not sure if any of the up and coming ones are more worth a gamble at this stage?
But with reports that Bayern and the players want Tuchel to stay - which further supports why I voted for him in the first place really - then I may need to change my vote soon for one of the up and coming managers. But not sure which at this stage.

Yep - with me it's the other way around, I did not vote for Tuchel as right now it seems he will not become available after all. But if the Bayern clown show takes another farcical turn I will change my vote to go for him. Since the question is about next season, not mid to long term.
