Argentine pair Juan Pablo Sorin and Claudio Lopez will head to Manchester United in January as the Italian club attempt to finally pay off the Old Trafford club for Jaap Stam, says Argentine newspaper Ole. There could also be a deal for Yugoslav midfielder Dejan Stankovic who, according to planetfootball, is a target for both United and Inter Milan.
Looks like more strength and depth

Well they do owe money on Stam and they are good players but its probably about as likely as City doing the treble

Dont know why we'd need Stankovic, we've enough cover in midfield. Lopez is a donkey but Sorin would be a good buy.

Lazio seems to be able to offload their whole squad just to pay off debts, i wonder how their team spirit is holding up at the moment.

i reckon you're definitely getting sorin.

dunno about lopez or stankovic. lopez's market value is a bit much to be giving him away for one. . .

What makes you say that?

Don't know about him being a donkey i think thats a bit harsh, if Cluadio Lopez could get back to his form at Valencia, he would be a great player to have in our side. The guy has tremendous pace, something we could do with adding to our front line. Plus he could also offer cover for Giggs as he can play on the left of the midfield as a winger type role.

Many players have goone to Italy and not been able to adapt to that style, probably the best example is Mendietta who did feck all for Lazio but is still a world class player as he has shown so far this season in his performances for Barcelona.

Lopez has the potential to be a great player and Sorin would also be another useful addition to the squad.

PS. I believe that if this were to happen which i must say i highly doubt, the presence of JSV woul enable Sorin & Lopez to settle easier and perhaps not have the problems that Seba faced when he first joined us.

Lopez is a wonderful player who can play both as a left winger, forward and striker. He is inconsistant but in his best days he can break any defense with hs pace and thundering shot
also Lopez have a spanish passport

Sorin is an elegant left back cum winger. He is elegant, powerful and armed with a wonderful header. He would prove a massive cover and competitor to Mickey and Giggsie

Conclusion. They would be a massive buy to United and would provide ample cover AND competition.

But i guess that these rumours are only lies

Can't see it happening. Have they paid us yet ? They should have the funds after selling Nesta and Crespo.

they're still way, way in debt. . .nesta and crespo chopped a chunk off the overdraft, but they're still in the clarts. . .

Ever hopefull

I'd be suprised if they are willing to use players as a way of paying off the debt. They have already lost 2 of their biggest stars.
I know a debt is a debt but i think it is more likely that they pay in installments over a number of years.

In other current news, there's a rumour going around that George Best likes an occasional drink..

That Diouf looks like a decent prospect. Cheeky bid in January?

Should be looking at Nakata if we are going for a Japanese player.
D'oh! Nakata is the player I was thinking off.

On the topic of Asian players there's this South Korean lad called Park Ji-Sung who is worth having a look at. He's just after having a great World Cup so we should act fast though. I have a bad feeling Hiddink will bring him to PSV.

I rate them both, think they would be nice signings in January. Dejan Stankovic is also a good option. He has the experience that we are lacking at the moment in the midfield.
