15 from 5

After a good victory against Norwich, and looking at the next fixtures, we have been handed a great opportunity to get 15 points from 5 games, which would not only rocket us up the ladder, but also give the team a much needed moral boost right before facing Spurs and City.
These are the fixtures:

Norwich (A) - 3x1
Bournemouth (A)
Brighton (H)
Sheffield U. (A)
Aston Villa (H)

Do we have what it takes to win all these matches in a row?
Was the Norwich match yet another "flatter to deceive" moment?
Where do you see us going if we start a winning streak? Will the team be able to sustain it and not implode like it did after PSG?
Think you're overestimating us and underestimating those sides.

Bournemouth is always a tricky game. Although their form has taken a hit recently.
Brighton are my second team and they have been great this season - very unlucky not to have more points.
Sheffield Utd is the game that worries me the most out of those fixtures.
Aston Villa looked dangerous against City but on paper it's the game i'd be most confident about winning.

Leicester look strong contenders as well, they’ve picked up a lot of points and have a very good manager, think we’d have to get past them for a potential top 4 place.
Squad is just their first 11 though. The wheels will probably come off after a few injuries or lack of options to rotate

Yeah that’s true, although like Liverpool they seem to have the remarkable ability to keep their starting 11 constantly fit, an enviable trait.

Not a single one of those games will be easy for us. We have been so shit we have to take it game by game now. Not like the old days with SAF in charge where you would 100% expect all of these games to be wins.

The creation of this thread has just ensured we’ll draw or lose most of these

I would like to think we have turned a corner with two away wins on the bounce, scoring more than 1 goal in a game for some time and having more players back from injury but these teams will be the real test as they ain't like Norwich who gift all teams the opportunity to score because of how expansive they try to play football.

Norwich are the worst team we've played this season to be fair. Their defending is non existent and there's a reason they're 2nd bottom despite a freak win against City.

Not that I don't think we're capable of winning the upcoming games but I definitely can't see them being as easy. Anyone who can get the ball against Norwich will get chances. Other games we'll need to do a bit more.
Newcastle and Southampton are worse than Norwich! Good win, I'm happy for now!!

Not mind blowing but the last 3 performances have been decent.

Hopefully the Liverpool game was a turning point and it's onwards and upwards from here.

They're not though. Only Watford have been worse than Norwich so far.

Norwich play some nice football but their defending really is that bad that it makes their football irrelevant.

I'm happy with the win but it'll be silly to think other games won't be more of a test

5-0 and 9-0 says otherwise, especially since we couldn't beat either of those 2 teams.

You have to take it one game at a time. On paper and based on heritage, yes you should beat them all comfortably but anything can happen. Villa and Bournemouth have the ability to be positive in attack, Brighton need a win, Sheffield are well organised. A bad result against Bournemouth and your back to square one.

We just beat Norwich 3-0 so that statement makes no sense. Newcastle and Southampton were both better when we played them. They're both above Norwich in the table. I'm not really sure what the argument is.

We could have won 7-0 yesterday and it wouldn't have been particularly unfair. That isn't going to happen in 95% of games regardless of how well we play.

I hate threads like this. I swear everytime we end up getting 9/15 at best.

It was 3-1, we’ve been dropping points to equally sh1t teams, but the table doesn’t lie I suppose. That 9-0 is quite embarrassing on us though, 1-1 there with them a man down. Was a good win anyway, more of the same needed!

Looks like people haven't learned anything from the past 6 years. One win and everyone thinks we'll do 5 in a row.

I refuse to get my hopes up.

I forgot about their goal. I mean they were timewasting when it was 3-0. They took over a minute to take a throw in and when they did take it they immediately passed us through on goal.

I don't think we've played any equally shit teams. Newcastle played well against us and Southampton were poor but defended a lot better than Norwich. Leicester have thrashed both but Leicester are a very good side and caught them both on a very bad day. Norwich, defensively at least, are like they were against us nearly every week.

It was definitely a good win though. You can't really argue with winning that easily even against a poor team. The front three all being available makes a big difference. They actually link up pretty well despite their decision making not always being the best. I think they can certainly cause problems against better teams than Norwich so hopefully the results will pick up a bit.

15 points makes up for some of the results at the beginning of the season. I think the acceptable minimum should be around 11 or 12 points. Hopefully we can stay undefeated and build up some momentum before the City and Tottenham fixtures.

It really doesn't matter what forum posters like us think, so I have no problem with dreams of winning 5 straight. But I hope the players themselves are only thinking about the next game they're featured to play in. They cannot get ahead of themselves, or the table, or their fashion line or anything else. Focus on in what they have to do in training to give their maximum performance if they're going to start against Chelsea in midweek or against Bournemouth on the weekend. That's it. And if they're not set to play because they're a fringe player, what they need to do to improve their game; or if they are recovering from injury, what they need to do to regain fitness. Nothing else matters.

The main concern is injuries. Our squad's thin as it is. We trimmed and now we re-build in the next few windows unless some of the kids surprise us.

I read that Martial hasn't played since August. Its just been difficult for Ole to build a platform when key players keep getting injured.

Scotty’s on fire, Martial is back, Shaw and Pogba still to return, a good run now isn’t impossible.

Think we'll get 7 or 8 points max from those. Not sure why anyone thinks 15 points is achievable when teams like Birghton and Sheffield are the exact sort of team we've suffered against this season. Bournemouth and AV are the two most winnable because they'll actually attack us.

If we get 7 or 8 Ole needs to get sacked. This run of games can go either way and it all depends on how Ole moves forward from the Norwich win. Does he sit and park his bus and try and battle for a clean sheet and a 1 0 or does he go out and challenge the team to go for it. 3-1, 4-1, 4-2 - all better than 1 0. We need to build the mindset of attack! I personally am going to give Ole the benefit lf the doubt especially seeing players are starting to come back. 10 points i think is possible from the next 4 with results being 1-3, 4-2, 1-1, 3-0.

Neither is winning the league but we aren't doing that. There is no evidence based on past form.

Lets atleast win consecutive PL games first before we jump the gun and get hopeful

We’re going streaky, get on the train pal ;)

Very excited to play you lot. I’d say we can get a result even without Deano as most games he doesn’t have much to do anyways. Maguire should get a good reception. After seeing us against Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, I’d be disappointed if we didn’t play to a similar level and give you a tough game.

There's no such thing as an easy game for this team at the moment, each game will feel like we're up against prime Barca due to the limitations we have.

I think Norwich will prove to be another flatter to deceive moment.

Take yo fishing elsewhere

Win the next PL game, so Bournemouth and then the confidence will change the fate of the team. That's really all what this is all about at the end of the day.

Would be fantastic to come through that run with 15 points. I think there is a little bit of underrating of Villa, Brighton and Sheffield United though - remember we were beaten by Newcastle a little over a week ago. We can win them all but we'll likely drop points somewhere and I'd be absolutely delighted with 13 points.

Well...that turned out roughly the way I was expecting

Any time someone on here says we've got winnable games approaching we usually turn in one like today.

We’ve won one game from what are supposed to be winnable fixtures and that was against Norwich. It will be a shock if we get more than 4 points from the next 3 league games.
