Rick Santorum is wearing Converse shoes with a suit.
He the republican on CNN?

I almost feel sorry for him at times before snapping to my senses. How can you begin to explain away Trump live on TV whilst not becoming an outcast to your party. They must be sick of it surely.

Would be hard to happen, but wouldn't it be amazing if it does? Maybe Trump-cult is gonna be pissed that GOP didn't stand with him and won't go voting on mass, while the Dems will be energized after the win and vote to flip the senate.

The most important race in Senate's history IMO.

A pardon for what? You can't just pre-emptively pardon someone. He hasn't been convicted of anything yet. Has he even been charged? There are investigations.
Ah well that confuses things for me. The idea was that he could be cleared of all current investigations into his taxes and otherwise but if you can't pre-emptively pardon someone then that changes everything. The opinion I had read seemed to think that that type of pardon was possible. However now that you've said it then I agree it makes no sense to be able to pardon something that hasn't happened yet. On the subject do you think that Biden's government will go after him? I hope they do personally as I wish that Obama had gone after Bush.

Trump should have lost in a landslide. The fact that he didn’t speaks volumes

Trump did not run a good campaign. He botched the first debate. He squandered his campaign cash. His messaging against Joe Biden was unfocused and often incoherent, simultaneously trying to paint him as a radical Antifa-sympathizing socialist and a corrupt corporate establishment figure. At a time when the economy was voters’ No 1 issue, Trump was focused on the emails of Biden’s ne’er-do-well son, Hunter. A campaign that presented voters with a clear and compelling alternative should have easily defeated Trump.

But Biden didn’t offer a clear and compelling alternative. He was a weak candidate from the start, so much so that even some of his allies were worried what would happen if he won the primary. Biden, like Hillary Clinton before him, represented the corporate wing of the Democratic party; he loudly defended the private health insurance industry and the fracking industry from attacks by the left. He ran away from proposals favored by the Democratic base like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. He didn’t show much interest in courting core constituencies like Latino voters (reportedly, the Biden campaign did not consider them part of its “path to victory”, which helps explain the losses in Texas and Florida). Biden didn’t even put much energy into the campaign; at crucial moments when Trump’s team were knocking on a million doors a week, Biden’s was reportedly knocking on zero. His ground game in important swing states like Michigan was “invisible”.

Blaming the voters simply will not do. This is a failure of leadership. Those responsible for it need to be held accountable. Unfortunately, it looks like some in the party will learn the wrong lessons. Even though dozens of democratic socialists won their elections this year while centrists struggled, there is a contingent among Democrats whose solution to any problem is the same: become more like Republicans.

Honestly if neither candidate has campaigned at all, we'd still be seeing the same results imo!

Are the Military votes going to be Trump Votes? Looks like Biden's lead will hoepfully be big enough to handle that though.

Well admittedly I don't actually know this, I am just assuming you can't like... pre-pardon someone. Either way, New York would still be going for him, so unless Biden leans a little too heavily into the bridge builder role Trump might have an eventful next few years.

The majority I would imagine.
Which is just incredibly odd supporting President Bone Spurs is akin to being in the military and drunkingly argue with some guy at the bar about why they didn't enlist and how disrespectful they are but hey I'll vote for you anyway // which would never happen, quite the opposite

Even when I agree with then, the way American news channels report political events is so irritating.

I'm hoping for some apathy from Trump voters lowering Republican turnout.

One of the theories I've read is that he will step down so Pence can give him a pardon. However history indicates that the Democrats are unlikely to pursue investigations against him and he can't be pardoned from NY charges, I believe, which are the most likely ones he will face.
But can a pardon be given to someone who hasn't been accused of the crime? Wouldn't the prosecutors just wait until January so that Pence would be out.
