What a disaster of an appointment he was. It's not a bad experiment to try, in the off chance you stumble on to another Pep/Zidane, but you have to be willing to pull the plug when it's clear that it's going nowhere, as Juventus and Chelsea did with Pirlo and Frank.

Feel a bit sorry for Pirlo. He came in with zero experience, took on an unbalanced squad and did not even have a pre-season. That he would struggle a bit in his first season was to be expected. Can't fault him too much. In the end, the club cannot afford to risk CL participation and cannot give a coach time to pick up the trade. But the fault lies with those who hired him. I hope, Pirlo gains more experience at a mid table club and will return after proving himself.
