I imagine he will have at least 1 season (probably 2 for more FA youth cup experience) in the u-18s before being pushed into the Reserves. Wouldn't be surprised if he is given limited reserve experience next season if they feel he is physically up to it though.

Reading great things about his, hopefully Pereira already been here may help us out with that transfer.
Henen has signed a 3 year contract with Anderlecht on his 16th birthday

So next year would he play for the academy or would he go straight into the reserves? Does it depend solely on ability or is age a factor?
Anyone know anything on this?
At 16 there is no reason why he can not play for the reserves or even the first team should we choose, but the most likely thing is that he will start off in the acadamy if he is impressing he may then get given game time in the the reserves just as Mats Moller Daehli has this season

There is little to no chance he would bypass the academy straight to the reserves. He will be in the u18s for the next two seasons almost certainly. Depending on progress he may play the odd reserve game next year but u18s football will take priority.

Any kid on our books who is good enough for the first team will get picked for the first team. It's not all that long ago the Da Silvas were fast-tracked straight into the first-team squad.

This kid's only just turned 16, so it's highly unlikely he'll be anywhere near ready to play first-team football next season.

Wish we could test 18 year olds in the first team like Ronaldo, if they've got the talent then why not ?

( Just my honest opinion )
Morrison, Pogba, Keane x2 and Larnell Cole have all debuted for us at the the age of 18 in the last year or two (Morrison was actually 17).

If their good enough their old enough but the manager is more likely to judge whether their ready or not from how well they cope in training before he throws them in at the deep end.

Very few players are ready at that age. Don't forget Ronaldo was brought after having played around 30 games for Sporting and Rooney was bought after two full seasons at Everton. We don't have much room for messing around with teenagers in our first team as long as we're competitive and expected to win trophies more or less on a regular basis. Teams like Everton, Middlesbrough or Arsenal who don't have those expectations can throw a youngster here and there because even if it costs them points, it won't matter that much in a grand scheme of things. We can't.

He will probably start in youth team. If it wasn't for red tape issues he probably would have already been playing their. Our coaches do emphasise a lot on the FA youth cup. They feel that is probably the best test for our youngsters before making the grade up to the first team. You just have to look at all our players who made their debuts this season after a great campaign in last years FAYC.

But this lad looks very promising. Very nimble on his feet and good free kicks.

Adam Marshall ‏from manutd.com saying Pereira was selected for the youth team today though the game was abandoned. Guess registration is sorted.

Great to have a super exciting young prospect to follow. I watched Morrison through the Academy and Reserves and his loss was a huge disappointment. We've got other young talent but this kid could be something special.

If Sutherland continues to improve and we sign one more high quality defender - we will have a near complete FA Youth Cup side next year - where we will have about 11-12 high quality players fighting for 6 spots in midfield and attack

----Pearson-----Rothwell---------

Daehli------Januzaj-------Pereira

--------------Barmby----------------

Subs; Byrne, Rudge, Wilson, Harrop, Gorre, plus others who may yet come to the fore.

So much technical ability in that team its not even fair on the rest.

Next year is going to be very exciting at academy/reserve level.

Yeah apparently Chelsea have just signed Charly Musonda jr aswell who is extremely highly rated and captains this under 16 team and City have signed Bossaerts the centre half for the same team.

According to the Belgian FA website Pereira has played 9 games for the under 16s and scored 10 goals he only failed to score in 2 games 1 of which he only played 29 mins and the other he only played 16 mins. Now that is prolific especially for a midfielder.

Yeah the academy should be great to watch this coming season plenty of extremely technically gifted players
Thats why Fergie wasnt going to push the boat out to keep people like Ravel or Pogba who don't value being at United. There are others in the pipeline for sure.

With him , Janujaz and Daehli in there, it sure is exciting.

But can never tell so early.

Pogba and Morrison for example, we were convinced they were our future and would be starting for us from this season onwards.
