Arsene Wenger for the DOF role?

Isn’t it meant to be someone who can do the role long term, transcending managers, though? And Wenger is rather old.

He has the footballing knowledge for sure and also he is academic. He left Arsenal financially in a much better position than most clubs. People try to make him a moron but during the majority of periods his Arsenal played very good football and with all the expenditure on the new stadium etc, he did a very good job on the financial side too.
He has a degree in engineering and a masters in economics I think so probably is a lot more qualified than the pundits in how to run a football club and balance his books at the same time.

I like the idea of having a board of football minded people who can agree/vote on targets rather than just one guys opinion. As for Wenger no, not because he's ex arse but because he built mentally and physically weak teams (although technically gifted) for other half his tenure there. That may be harsh since they had an inferior budget to others and did show fight at times to win the FA cup but they were also serial christmas collapsars and known for being soft centred. Also left them in sixth place.
