Arshavin to Arsenal

Been very good so far, no doubt he's keen to impress though. Hopefully he keeps up this good form throughout the rest of the season, and hopefully he settles quickly.

Arshavin - English game hard

Andrey Arshavin admits English football is much harder than he first thought - and he needs to work at his game to help the Gunners into the UEFA Champions League next season.

The playmaker used to enjoy watching Premier League football on TV while living in his native Russia and featuring for Zenit St Petersburg.

But now the Russia international is playing for Arsenal, he is seeing a different side to the game and he needs to work hard to adjust.

Arshavin's comments come after he admitted earlier in the week that he needs to improve on his fitness levels.
Dynamic

The 27-year-old told the club's official website: "I watched the matches that were broadcast in Russia whenever possible.

"But to tell the truth it seemed less difficult on TV. Only now do I understand how dynamic and hard the football is here.

"Now I would like to score as soon as possible. Everybody expected me to score in my very first match but that never happens, especially with me.

"But nothing was easy and immediate for me. Arsenal is no exception. So I need patience and hard work now.

"The main task now is to get into the Champions League for next season."

Studies

As well working hard on the field, Arshavin has been putting in the work off it, by learning English.

He added: "I began my English studies about two years ago.

"I had no solid plans [of moving to London]. But I already thought about England and moreover English is an international language and can be handy everywhere.

"All experienced people said that the better you know the language the easier it will be.

"And even if I had not left Russia, knowledge of a foreign language cannot be a waste."

I love his attitude, he's only come across as a top bloke in each of his interviews.

He seems alright, but you gotta wonder about a man who takes his hairdresser with him when he moves house

Yer, I was going to say seems down to earth but then I remembered that. It was his wife's doing though, wasn't it?

I suppose any little thing that can help him settle properly is fine by me. And, if I'm going to be extra awesomely :wenger:-ish, I'd go so far as to exclaim "look how far he's willing to go to keep a happy house, all just because he's desperate to play for us!"

But I won't, so I didn't.

;)

 Surely you wouldnt expect him to be talking shit a month after his arrival, shit hard to believe that was over a month ago.

Surely the Ars-havin' chat shouldn't be in the transfer section anymore?

He said on Football Focus that it was bullshit.

He's been very good for Arsenal as of yet, settled in brilliantly.

Sunderland - Made his debut, was the most threatening player on the pitch.

Fulham - Similarly was the only player on the pitch with any urgency, showed his eye for a pass as well as a shot then too.

West Brom - Set up Bendtner's goal and had two very impressive shots, nearly scoring his first goal. Second best player on the pitch.

Burnley - Drifted in and out of the but set up Vela's goal with a nice piece of play again.

Blackburn - Scored a great goal, was heavily involved in the opener, played in Walcott when he nearly won a penalty, played in Walcott again right at the end with a great pass but Walcott missed badly.

Hull - Had a nice shot blocked by Gardner, another shot blocked by Ricketts and a volley that sailed slightly over and slightly wide, all in the first half. Was heavily involved in the attacking play all match, and was at the heart of both goals with the free kick in for Gallas' goal and Arshavin cutting it back for Van Persie showing some class.

Newcastle - Taylor blocked Arshavin's shot brilliantly when he looked highly likely to score, and he then went on to clip the top of the crossbar from 30 yards out after a very nice run beating two men, and he set up Bendtner's goal.

I think we can safely say Arshavin > Anelka.

Good analysis Brwned.

I think his creativty has been hugely important to Arsenal lately. I think he is a lot more direct than Arsenal's usual pissing about and that is going to make Arsenal a very formidable team next year and for the rest of the season.

Fabregas, Nasri, Robin Van Persie, Arshavin, Eduardo

Scary prospect

I just loved how when he told the lads to feck off back to their positions and get on with the game, after we scored the equaliser against Hull.

He's not here to feck about, that's for sure.

Only if they get a decent defensively minded midfielder to compliment Fabregas and perhaps a new centre back.
