Very nerve wracking half to watch after we scored.

We are under so much pressure. We will need to grab atleast one more.goal because I definitely see Villa scoring 1 minimum.

Casemiro is an enigma. Makes many vital interceptions and tackles but gifts possession away like no tomorrow but he’s also capable of making great first time passes. This is where we’ll miss Martinez.

We were good in the first 15 minutes and terrible afterwards. Onana and Dalot best players so far

If they got booked as they should they’d be a man down. Emery is doing a great job, better than most managers in the league, but it’s a lot easier to look better with ref-endorsed cheating
Us giving the ball away again and again, them finding players between our midfield and defense has nothing to do with the ref or cheating

I think Mainoo and Case are not their usual self. Need them to tighten up as Villa are going to come hard at us second half.

Besides that it has been a good half with a squeaky bum

Unbelievable number of dives by the Villa players in the first half, and it is unfortunate that the referee does not intervene. Casemiro should never have had a yellow card as the Villa player throws himself theatrically.

Is it possible that Emery and Trossard are related? They look like father and son.

Great start and another goal for Hojlund. Since then Villa have been the better team mostly and we are struggling to get to grips with their play down their left hand side. We need to start winning the midfield battle in order to see this out as they are probably going to score at least one at this rate. Casemiro is unlucky to get that booking, no contact made, but he has to keep his cool.

I think some of those ratings are too high.

Things looks pretty good thus far, except both Mainoo and Casemiro being on yellow
Pretty good? We're like headless chickens in defence, with the ball being a hot potato when it's in or around our box. Then we're absolutely horrible to watch when trying to open teams up when we're attacking, our passing is bottom half of the league team standard.

Casemiro has been fine. Mainoo has been poor today, and I would sub him soon.

a bit similar to the West Ham game. Villa can't do anything with the ball despite getting regularly in good positions.

Our brains switch off as soon as we get the lead. It’s like an MMA fighter who knocks their opponent down then stands back like it’s a boxing match, when we should be right on top of them trying to paint the mat red with their brain matter.

That's very generous to Mainoo and Fernandes. A bit generous to Højlund as well. Also don't see that level of difference between Garnacho and Rashford.

I don't think it is to bad. Don't listen to excited fans or media. We have been in pretty good control. 2 chances for Aston Villa don't paint the picture.

But it can't be right that without one CB we can't pass the ball?

The non-existing midfield we play with is a sight to behold! Can't put too much blame on Mainoo, he's barely experienced enough, but for all his justiculating and 'creativity' I think ETH really need to think of dropping Bruno now.

Once again most of our problems are self made. We should just keep things simple in our own half and open up in the final third. A lot of our play is being broken up by ourselves. The comedy act between Onana and Maguire needs to stop before it costs us. For once I would like to see us play a mature game, I’m sure we are capable of it.

The lack of pace in our midfield is a big concern as Kobbie and Casemiro are nowhere to be seen when Villa attack at speed.

You can see the difference in the two teams. Villa know what they want to do. We have no clue.
Eh? Villa knows feck all, all they know is only to dive all over the pitch. We should be two goals up here even. They are bunch of diving rats.

Can we actually take Bruno off for once? He is offering absolutely nothing yet again. Either in attack or defense.

Positive is leading and have kept a clean sheet (a couple of good Onana saves to thank mostly for that)

Other than that the performance has been very scrappy by United with few players performing to their capabilities. Number of players on yellow cards now so on a tightrope for the 2nd half with this ref dissing out cards for dives.

What are Villa fans even booing? Every soft decision has gone their way. Couple of instant flags for offsides that didn't look at all certain either, which rarely happens. Home fans have reffed the whole game and they're still pissed.

If Villa scored as much as they dived, they'd be Premier League champions.

That being said, good start, but it's been all them after we scored. Casemiro does well when he is positioned for it, but if he is caught, it's over. He is struggling with the pace of the game and needs to be hooked off. Mainoo a few good passes again, but by and large a non-factor. Dalot and Maguire have been massive. Onana with important saves as well.

I'm glad we are ahead, but by God, the football we are playing is so, so dull.
