Fairytale of New York is a favourite.

I worked in Covent Garden General Stores one Christmas and they had Cristmas tunes on loop 24/7, it's amazing how quickly you can go off all of them.

Slade or the Pogues are best for in a pub.

I Believe in Father Christmas and Stop the Cavalry are the best to hear blasted out on the streets when you're out shopping.

The one I listen to most is Jimmy Eat World cover of Last Christmas.

Oh and the one by Alphabeat obviously.

Darlene Love - All Alone On Christmas
Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree

Both because they remind me of Home Alone!

East 15 - Stay Another Day
George Micheal - Last Christmas
Tom Jones - that rapey song, can't remember the name. I don't even like it but it's fun making your own lyrics to it.

Fairytale of New York is for shite try hards. That is before getting into the awful homophobic slur right in the middle of it.

This is for when I’ve had a few too many single malts and everyone else has gone to bed.

edit: the whole album is great for a reflective and melancholy 30 mins at Christmas.

Fairytale of New York
The last good Christmas song to come out was all I want for Christmas. And that came out 25 years ago

Fairytale of New York, I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday, Step Into Christmas, Merry Christmas Everybody, Last Christmas, Let It Snow, The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas To You), In Dulci Jubilo, Bert Jansch's In The Bleak Midwinter are my favourites. Also let's be honest, Rock 'n' Roll Christmas is a banger.

Fairytale of New York easily.

I think the worst is a better question and after actually listening to it properly in a shop yesterday I'd have to say it's Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney. Absolute guff. What the feck is this?

The choir of children sing their song
Ding dong, ding dong
Ding dong, ding ooo
Ooo ooo toot toot toot toot toot toot

Also, a real traditional version of Carol of the Bells. Heard it this morning and it made my lip tremble. Probably the most Christmassy of Christmas noises ever!

I'm also partial to Tavener's God Is With Us, Britten's Hymn to the Virgin and Weir's Illuminare Jerusalem. What's yours @Revaulx ?

Slade, Elton, St Etienne and Bowie & Bing Crosby

The East 15/17 song was about his friend dying so it’s not really a Christmas song
