Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
People's best PL XI usually has a lot of standard choices (Cole, Henry, Ronaldo...) but what if you couldn't choose loads of United, Arse, Chelsea players? Lot harder then?

Pick an XI from eleven different clubs - have to have played at least 100 times for the chosen club and the club you pick is the player quality you get. So pick Rio for WH and get a young, unproven (at top level) Rio. 442 or 433.

Goalie - Tim Flowers (Blackburn)

LB - Ian Harte (Leeds)
CH - Paul McGrath (Villa)
CH - Jamie Carragher (Liverpool)
RB - Stephen Carr (Spurs)

LW - Cristiano Ronaldo (United)
MF - Gary Speed (Bolton)
MF - Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
RW - David Silva (City)

FWD - Thierry Henry (Arsenal)
FWD - Alan Shearer (Newcastle)

(No Rio Ferdinand at Leeds, Irwin at Oldham, Kante.... don't meet 100 games at a club during PL.)

Quite a team, could maybe get a better CB.

This made me realize that a United 11 has an easy claim to being the best 11 players in the Premier League's history.

In a 4-4-2, the only spot up for grabs would be up front.

A lot of people shoehorn the likes of Terry, Gerrard and Lampard to keep it “unbiased”... But we all know they don’t have a patch on the likes of Vidic, Scholes, Keane, Stam and Ferdinand.

As you said, the only spots up for grabs would be up top. Henry has got to be in there... as for Shearer, yes he’s the all time top scorer but you could make a claim for Ruud or Rooney in that spot.

I don't know, think both CBs are very good, though Pallister didn't play 100 PL games outside United?

Two LBs?

I avoided putting a United player in the team as I'd find it hard to choose 1 so this is my non-united 11.

I too chose Kante initially but he hasn't played 100 games from Leicester. Was such an easy pick for DM position, especially considering he won't take a spot from a premium team

Exactly. Maybe a RB too. Neville was good but not exactly a world beater. But then again, who are the best ever RB? Invanovic, Coleman, Valencia? We haven't exactly been spoiled in this league for RBs.

A lot of people shoehorn the likes of Terry, Gerrard and Lampard to keep it “unbiased”... But we all know they don’t have a patch on the likes of Vidic, Scholes, Keane, Stam and Ferdinand.

I think Henry and Shearer edge it. Doesn't mean that Cantona, Rooney or Ruud were shite though.

My thoughts exactly mate. May not have played 100 games but he looked like he had played in the PL for years and was one of the best players in the title win.

Van der sar - fulham

Baines - Everton
Terry - Chelsea
Van Dyke - Southampton
Walker - City

Ronaldo - United
Viera - Arsenal
Kante - Leicester
Bale - Spurs

Shearer - Newcastle
Sourez -Liverpool

Reckon this team would have romped home with league.

That midfield is a bit gung-ho though. Keane at Forrest was more attacking (United version would've suited this team better) and both Gerrard and Toure played best when freed of all defensive/positional responsibility.

Completely agree. Struggled to find a good dm considering the other choices though. I am hoping for the mid-field to bully everyone while the front 3 score for fun :D

Nice team, vidic makes the defence tight and front 6 are all good and balanced. You could arguably have put a young Rio from West Ham with vidic and let him nurture him to 2008 partnership

Was tempting but I just feel Rio was never Rio until he was with us. Different level of mentality, hunger for trophies etc. I think I'd be happy taking the team above to a tournament but good shout.

Easy: all Norwegian
Gk: Erik Thorstvedt Tottenham
Rb: stig Inge Bjørnebye Blackburn
Cb: Brede Hangeland Fulham
Cb: Claus Lundekvam Southampton
Lb: John Arne Riise Liverpool
Cm: Øyvind Leonardsen Wimbledon
Cm: Eirik Bakke Leeds
Lw: Joshua King Bournemouth
Rw: Ole Gunnar Solskjær Manchester United
St: Tore Andre Flo Chelsea
St: John Carew Aston Villa

Not that bad actually. A great goalie and the defense is pretty good. I wanted Johnsen and Berg in there, but then I would have struggled in other positions. Obviously Solskjær shunted to the right is not the best solution, but he played there for both United and Norway. Our cm options are not the best.

Is Samuel Jackson the team manager?

That team could put people off football.

Probably the best so far, even Rio at Leeds perhaps he was good by the time he joined us but I get your reasoning, his best was for us while woodgates best was at Leeds
