Freak
Born a freak always a freak.
Veron for me. Just thought it was going to be something special the moment we signed him. So much of class. He didn't set the world alight for us but I don't believe he was bad.
I think it could well have been, certainty a British record.World record for a keeper at that time? Or is my memory failing me?
You are correct.World record for a keeper at that time? Or is my memory failing me?
Bought from Fulham. Did you read the OP?Definitely Van der Sar. Gave us six years at the top level.
Well, if it needs to be bought from a foreign club, then gotta be Van Nistelrooy... although at the time he was signed, he wasn't exactly worldwide famous yet.Bought from Fulham. Did you read the OP?
Which is why the answer has to be Veron, or perhaps Di Maria. Both failed.Well, if it needs to be bought from a foreign club, then gotta be Van Nistelrooy... although at the time he was signed, he wasn't exactly worldwide famous yet.
If we're including British players, then Denis Law from Torino would probably be one of our biggest. Signed for a British record transfer fee at the time (incidentally it also cost a British record fee when Torino signed him from City). He won the Ballon D'Or two years later.Kinda left field but wouldn't Teddy Sheringham be considered? England international and Spurs legend by this point
Well, how about Park ? He was pretty famous when signed due to his performances in the 2002 World Cup, came on the cheap from PSV and gave us seven years.Which is why the answer has to be Veron, or perhaps Di Maria. Both failed.
