Club have announced that the weekends game against Brighton has been postponed.

Unsurprising as clubs push for a full league shutdown until 2022.

Can see them closing the league down until after the new year before the situation spirals out of control.

How long before BCD games get reintroduced I wonder?

Which means we must have had more Positive cases since training resumed.

I don’t mind if they do this tbh. Football over the festive period is such a buzz, would rather there are games than some weird staggered season which then ends with low quality football when it’s a game every 3 days.

From a fan perspective, you can only enter if vaccinated in a few days anyway, a year ago football was still played behind closed doors and very few were vaccinated, with most now vaccinated, how have we seen this scenario where games can't be played? If they have enough players (14 with 2 keepers) should they not play and those that have COVID isolate and be treated like an injured player?

Unsure will depend on the Omicron outbreak and how it unfolds.

A Christmas shutdown is plausible given how general restrictions don't really go far enough to stop the spread of this new variant, so it's likely to get much worse before it gets better.

Vaccination isn't going to be enough, I think it will eventually come down to the % of people who have had boosters. Guess we'll see the government are intent on keeping things going this time around.

Heartbreaking really. Flew all the way here for it, but at least they gave us notice well in advance. Does anyone here know if I can get a refund? The email I got just says my ticket will remain valid but that doesn’t do much for me tbh and my tickets were pretty expensive

Why don't they just bring the whole league to a stand now, clean break for 2 weeks over Christmas, let clubs get their sh*t together and go again fresh in the new year with the tightest PL covid restrictions all in place.

That's the sensible thing to do now. And that's coming from somebody who will be gutted to not have any footie on the telly over xmas.

Apologies, by vaccination, I meant what the government regards as vaccinated (Which is 3 vaxx in most cases), what I am asking is what's the difference between last year and the fact they continued in what to me would seem like a worse circumstance

Sorry to hear that broski.

This thread should help if you're planning to sell and make some money back, obviously not sure of the circumstances - https://www.redcafe.net/threads/all...l-not-be-tolerated-on-the-site.463569/page-57

That generally there isn't the same level of restriction and people are still socialising.

It feels like they ballsed up the preparations for another wave to me. Players should have been asked to take far greater care.

There is a university in the U.S., Cornell U., that has a 97% vaccination rate and yet they are experiencing a huge outbreak. Vaccines can help you recover but they DO NOT prevent you from getting infected. This is not a pandemic of the un-vaccinated.

The league is in a pickle. If they cancel the matches until January then the league is extended into the summer. If the league is extend in the summer how does the PL start early in order to take a month-long break for the WC in December? Tough decisions ahead.

I'd prefer if they put my entertainment whilst stuffing my face in front of the TV ahead of their own well being. The selfish gits.

Yeah 900 students positive, which is just an absurd number considering nobody had anything close to that even when we didn’t have the shots. Just goes to show you how much more transmissable this stupid variant is.

7 fit first teamers left is concerning so must mean its a massive outbreak.(Although it was bound to happen at somepoint I guess.) Hopefully everyones ok.

Other than Liverpool off the top of my head is there any teams that havent been affected by outbreaks since last year?

West Ham and City seem to haven't been effected much.

Play while you can as it wouldn't be a surprise if every team was affected over the next few weeks, don't see what calling off Brentfords game with Soton achieves if neither team are affected.

Brighton were already affected heavily and Watford v Palace will likely be called off as will Leicester's games with Everton & Liverpool.

So those who traveled to Norwich had covid then... I wonder if Lindelof having to be subbed is related at all

Nah, he just couldn't handle the embarrassment of playing alongside Maguire any longer.

We could have fielded a decent 8 a side team.

From the training ground arrival pictures that were released on Wednesday, our available players included Ronaldo, Bruno, De Gea, Dalot, Telles, Martial, Fred and McTominay. Lindelof was also there yesterday but presumably still going through other testing.

---------De Gea
Dalot---------Telles
-----McT---Fred
---------Bruno
----Ron----Martial

We'd have battered them 8v8.

Brighton will be delighted it's off, numerous injuries and 11 games without a win.

United will have serious fixture congestion in the New Year.

Yes. Thankfully, we are out of the League cup-so a couple of free fixture slots. Hopefully they don’t reschedule games during our winter break.

I feel for you mate. Not sure if you'd be interested but why not book a stadium tour? I think they are still taking place. Better than nothing if you have came over from the states.

No one really gives a sh*t about them probably to even notice.
Probably true.

Although City had the outbreak last year that ended up helping them win the league so there is that.*
