Yep, there's reason to be skeptical. Considering Bruno is the focal point of Sporting CP, he will almost definitely clash with Pogba (who's supposed to be the focal point of our midfield). There he has the freedom and the license to express himself, and he won't necessarily be afforded those luxuries at United (and they do inflate his production to a significant degree). Not to mention, there's a bit of an overlap between their respective skill sets (analogous to Milinković-Savić: who was a purported target last summer, despite having a few things in common with Pogba), so it could lead to a Lampard + Ballack situation where they aren't the most symbiotic. That being said, you never quite know how specific players will mesh with each other — maybe they can strike up a special understanding ahead of a resolute defensive midfielder and share the burden...not very realistic but who knows, really. Someone like Arthur would have been a more intuitive fit — so composed, so intelligent, so effortless, and operates in less aggressive positions. Or indeed De Jong, even Bentancur.
