Well there’s the problem with the question, how great does a great team have to be if a CL & FA cup double doesn’t count?
Something we’d be over the moon with now, in fact, we’d probably give a left testicle for that.
The poster was suggesting that no great team had a player as bad as Bruno at 10, as if we have to replace him to be “great” again. That might be true like if we’re talking league domination and CL. But we’re not only miles off that, it’s impossible with the Abu Dhabi football project in the league.
Can we be a top side again that wins big things with Bruno? Absolutely, as Mata, Mount, Litmanen, Joe Cole, Sneijder are testament to that.
As for true great teams, how many have there really been? I’d imagine if we wanna be
great again, we likely don’t have a single player in our current team good enough. Not a single one would start the 2007 CL final for instance, so Bruno would be approaching retirement by the time we’ve build that.
