If we were playing 3 at the back with those players, wouldn't it be Bailly–Blind–Darmian?

Anyway, don't think that 3-3-2-2 makes much sense, even if you consider it a 3-5-2. Rashford needs more a playmaker to play alongside or near him.

    I'm feeling depressed guys.
    Ibra - out.
    Rojo - out.
    Long term injuries.

    :(

Valencia the only one not among the players seen doing recovery training today, all of those played more minutes against Anderlecht. :nervous: Hope it's not a sign of injury.

Mourinho said already before the Chelsea match that Tony V has a "small problem" and that he can't play every match.

Not expecting much from this given our exploits on Thursday. Think it will be a draw.

I have more confidence on us getting the wanted result on Thursday than tomorrow, even considering the gap in opponent's quality.

I wasn't expecting him to start, but not seeing him in recovery training is worrying.

Well if he has a small injury he probably has his own training/recovery programme to try to get him fit for the next match.
I think you're doing wishful thinking, but lets leave at that. :)

Front three of Young, Rashford, and Lingard for me, with Mkhitaryan in behind, Herrera, and Fellaini in midfield, Mensah, Bailly, Blind, and Shaw in defence.

Hopefully get the game won early and get Bailly off asap, he is going to need a protecting big time now.

I'm pretty sure this will be a 1-1 draw.

But listen lads, top 4 is a pipe dream. Too many injuries and too many tough away games. It's not realistic.

We are 2/3 wins away from Champions League football via The Europa League. That has to be the priority.

Mourinho needs to give an opportunity to the likes of TFM and Martial now that Rojo and Ibra are out for the season. Start building towards next season. It's up to them to cease it, particularly Martial.

It would be nice to win and we can still do the top four, but it's unlikely and so most of our eggs need to be in the EL basket. It can't harm to try for 4th place, it will require dipping into the youth squad though to preserve our EL commitments.

That's not going to happen. Doubt José would take off our only CB anyway.

Maybe, but somehow he will need resting for a game or two, if we lose him then we truly are in trouble, for now though I am still cautiously optimistic for our games ahead.

    Or centre back.

Pretty sure that will happen. Lacking too many CBs so we need some extra protection. Darmian played as a LCB vs Chelsea. He's one of the only fresh players we have, so can't see him not starting. Considering the circumstances, I'm happy with that.

He'd need it, but until we've dropped out of Top 4 for the season, I can't see that happening.

I could too. Only thing with that is who starts at wingback? Young and Shaw? Valencia looked shattered after 120 minutes. I'm not sure Mourinho would give Shaw another game so soon either.

TFM on the right, Young on the left. That's my uneducated guess.

It's the perfect time to inject some new blood. Because of the injury crisis, fans won't be as disappointed if we finish 5th. So now he's under less pressure domestically. I just hope he uses this period to try some new ideas.

Fair shout. I'd love to see Timboo get a start.

We've been good defensively all season, especially with 3-4-3. Young, as he showed yet again last Sunday, is good option for left wingback. So I think we could afford that back five (TFM, Darmian, Bailly, Blind, Young), as long as we have a decent front five to score a couple (I know) of goals. Herrera-Pogba; Lingard-Rooney; Rashford. A nice mix of fresh legs, match winners and... well, Rooney.

Suddenly him and Rashford are absolutely key players now, they're young so hopefully they can stand up to it, but I do hope Bailly is rested for the Swansea game at least before our next EL game.

In case we get less than 3p tomorrow and the same against City, we'll probably see a bit more rotated XI against Swansea. It's just that it's a bit difficult to rest Bailly. Who would we play as CBs? The only natural is Tuanzebe. Then it's Blind, Darmian, TFM... We'd be in trouble without Bailly there, in my opinion.

    i like that one.

He might have to. He's not any less reliable than a fatigued Shaw, not travelled Valencia or Tuanzebe.
He doesn't have to. Unless Pogba or Bailly absolutely need to be rested. Actually, I would say we'll only feature a 3-4-3 if Pogba needs to be rested.

Considering the lack of centre halves, I think we'll play with 3-4-3. Don't know why that'd be related to Pogba playing or not. I think both Bailly and Pogba will play, and TFM will play instead of Tuanzebe (can't see Shaw starting after 120mins and cramps).

If Bailly's playing, why can't we play 4-3-3 with a defensive line of Young–Bailly–Blind–Darmian (the fullbacks could feature either side)? We have more or less rested midfielders to hold on in Pogba–Herrera–Fellaini.
