I think first leg at Barca and United leave there with a 3-0 loss. At home they have the fans and everything a they can nick a result to defend in Spain as Chelsea did a few years ago and then hit them on the counter.Barca have an insane home record in the Champions League, something like 40 home games in a row without a loss
Second leg at home would have been better for United
Yes, and no team ever advanced to the QF after going down 0-2 at home in the round of 16. But Ole's at the wheel.Barca have an insane home record in the Champions League, something like 40 home games in a row without a loss

The ice man and iron Mike.. we’re sortedLet’s hope we’re at full strength
Smalling and Lindelof will have a real test
Keep quiet
To some extent yeah, but when you have to face Juve, PSG and Barca on the way to the final before playing a team like City or Liverpool then it makes it 200x harder than having an easier runTo be the best, you have to beat the best. If we don't beat them then it's obviously not our time yet. To be at this stage is a massive achievement in itself given the severity of the season end of Jan.
I will say that I watched the full Barcelona Lyon 2nd leg the other night & Messi was as good as I've ever seen him. Will be 10x tougher than PSG that's for sure.
I doubt it, in 99 we had Bayern & Barca in the group stages, Inter in the QF, Juve in the SF and Bayern again in the Final, now that was fecking difficult. 08 wasn't so bad, Porto QF, Arsenal SF and Chelsea in the final! So if we get to the final, we've played PSG-Barca-Liverpool (most likely)-City/Juve?
Toughest way to the CL final ever?
Plus we already played Juve one time this season.
We don't need to beat them at Nou Camp do we?Barca have an insane home record in the Champions League, something like 40 home games in a row without a loss

You think Barca's a worse draw than Liverpool or City? Yes they might be harder to manage but the rivalry and intensity of City n Pool will make it a lot harder I think. Very glad we avoided English teams all together.Yeah. Worst possible draw for us, all matches taken into account.
But we had a much stronger squad, and not an interim manager, if we take that into consideration too?I doubt it, in 99 we had Bayern & Barca in the group stages, Inter in the QF, Juve in the SF and Bayern again in the Final, now that was fecking difficult. 08 wasn't so bad, Porto QF, Arsenal SF and Chelsea in the final!
Do you remember our XI in 99 CL Final? No Keane, No Scholes, Becks in midfield with Butt, Giggs on the right and Blomqvist on the left!! on paper we were fecked! But yes tbf, this is probably one of the hardest routes to the final we've had considering the circumstances. But we had a much stronger squad, and not an interim manager, if we take that into consideration too?
Plus PSG and City on oil doping, City and Barca on Pep's peds
Nope.We had As Roma and Lyon.In 09 we had Porto and Arsenal.I doubt it, in 99 we had Bayern & Barca in the group stages, Inter in the QF, Juve in the SF and Bayern again in the Final, now that was fecking difficult. 08 wasn't so bad, Porto QF, Arsenal SF and Chelsea in the final!
first leg at home is fine. The last round ajax, liverpool and united all qualified after home first legs. we've shown to be better away team under OGS due the counter attack so 2nd leg away is fineIs it really worse to play the first leg at home when you're up against a better team?
My reasoning always was that you're more likely to get a good result at home, and it's better to start well than otherwise...
Would rather go away second with an advantage, as tiny as it may be, than be home second after being trounced in the first leg.
I think your right. Is it really worse to play the first leg at home when you're up against a better team?

Oh my bad, got 08 and 09 mixed up.. Our squad when everyone is fit is capable of beating Barca, I don't think it would be a massive shock if we beat them. PSG was more amazing because 10 players were out! We just cannot afford to let them pop the ball around for fun at OT like PSG did, maybe pack the fecking midfield and press like lunatics and get Rashford on the end of a counter!Nope. We had As Roma and Lyon.In 09 we had Porto and Arsenal.
The huge difference between our run in 99 and compared to our potential run now is,stating the obvious here,we had a really good team then. Now we are mismatched.
It would be utterly remarkable if we got past this Barca side.
How do you feel about drawing us?Is it really worse to play the first leg at home when you're up against a better team?

In the semis against Liverpool.ffs the hardest possible draw. when will we catch a break in draws?
How're you guys doing this year?Is it really worse to play the first leg at home when you're up against a better team?

Look at this way. We've got a rookie manager who's no doubt learning with every big game he manages.ffs the hardest possible draw. when will we catch a break in draws?
Tweak? Season ending injury would do just fine.
League spots in the previous campaign was the criterium, not that unlogical if you ask me. Hence why your game was moved instead of theirs. Can't really complain, except the switch of games. Would've felt more comfortable with the home game being second, but City continues to be a serious thorn in our side. I wonder what the criteria was that allows them to keep the favored slot vs us. Probably being champs. Wonder what criteria would've been used if that weren't the case .
At least this isn't Pep Barca, plus don't have guys like Xavi & Iniesta to make us chase our tails. Actually feel this tie is very winnable, as long as we don't implode in the first leg. A win would be great, even a 0-0, but can't allow them to score multiple goals at OT.
If we get through, at least we'd have a very big hand in who gets any trophies for City & Liverpool. A tie vs Liverpool could really sap their strength for the PL.
How do you feel about drawing us?
Hate the draw, same as last season, we aren't doing any better and you aren't worse. Our defense is a bit better (Pepe and Militao) but we're very short on attack. How're you guys doing this year?
We gave you a bit of a beating last season but I'm wondering what's different about your side this time around?
