I am sure the BBC employ him as a professional ABU.

Any ideas as to why he hates Utd so much?

his days at Blackburn? nothing he said was totally wrong but nothing he said was original either

He’s making his way in the punditry world, best strategy is to go full out ABU and he’ll be on Sky in no time...just look at their current lineup!

He's on absolutely everything as well. Every quote you see about everything is what Chris Sutton thinks.

I can't stand him, he was a very average player which makes it worse.

I turned the air blue in the car on the way back from the game last night. I had a quick check of BBC sport and his comments boiled my blood. Again. Every game.

Chris Sutton is like the signing of Obertan after Ronaldo left.

He's usually bang on about United. Hard to tell if he is ABU like Sourness just yet. It is easier to spot ABU's when the side is doing well, at the moment 75% of the caf will probably be ABU's by this metric.

ABU's were far more detectable when we were successful. Now they're largely valid in their points.

Very good on Scottish football, so I don’t mind him. He does have a tendency to say things to get a reaction. The article on the BBC seems spot on though.

Don't get me wrong I do find him a bit of a knob, but I think he talks sense when it comes to us and how crap we are.

Isn't he just miserable WUM all the time? Like that's his gimmick? It's for money - not because he gives a shit either way (I suspect).

He's not a ABU.

He is negative about everyone not called Celtic.

After he said Van Dijk was the third best player in the world, I vowed never to read or watch anything he says ever again.

He is the worst pundit on television, as well as the biggest bore. Hate the guy. Average footballer, who thinks he is some great authority on football matters.

Instead of which manager is going to be sacked yet. I would much rather have fans discuss which useless pundit should be sacked, as unlike managers, nearly all of them wouldn't be any get loss if they were never heard of in the media again. I nominate Sutton, as he is a right dick as well as useless.

BT sport have their top level pundits. The likes of Scholes, Rio etc. Sutton is basically the rent-a-quote you stick on you Dean Saunders on a Saturday morning. He's shite, but at least you never see him during the important games. Much like his career, really.

Ill be honest, i used to despise him but I don’t mind him that much anymore. I think he’s lightened up abit this season. I haven’t read all his comments about United but he can’t be too far from the truth if he’s slating Jose and our style of play, how poor we have been etc because lets be honest it’s largely true.

The problem is it's hard to disagree with what he's saying even though he hasn't got a good word to say about the club.

I rarely post on here but always have a read, however I felt I had to post in this thread. Chris Sutton is the worst pundit I’ve ever seen, and he embarrasses himself even more when he talks about Celtic/Rangers.

Being ultra-negative is his schtick, so when United are playing badly he will absolutely slate them.

Sutton is a joke of a pundit, he absolutely detests Utd and shows no real insight whatsoever. The man has always had a overly high opinion of himself (refusing to play for England B-team, thinking he was ta quality player despite not making it at Chelsea and being dumped to Celtic) and he has a chip on his shoulder. I'm surprised he gets work, but the BBC these day are only interested in doom and gloom anyway so he's right up their street. Clickbait, nothing more.

He was handy as a player. He was as good, or better than Lukaku.

Harsh on Lukaku as he may develop further but he’s not done much at United to suggest he will.

He's been the most honest pundit about the old firm that's ever lived. Calls it as it is every single time.

Feck sake how have you managed to use a thread about Chris sutton's punditry to have a dig ay Lukaku

If people are commenting on his ability as a player, it’s fair game.

He’s a terrible pundit and barely speaks a sensible sentence.

But people need to leave his playing career alone considering the shit we have wearing our shirts at the moment.

He's one of the best pundits scottish football ever had. Not afraid to stick the boot in to celtic either.

I think Sutton is an absolute waste of space as far as punditry goes and he has zero charisma, a cnut version of Danny Murphy.

Gary Neville
Jamie Carragher
Roy Keane
Jermaine Jenas
Robbie Savage
Jamie Redknapp
Martin Keown
Graeme Souness
Danny Murphy
Paul Scholes
Rio Ferdinand

Charlie Nicholas
Alan Smith
Owen Hargreaves
Phil Thompson
Graeme Le Saux
Craig Bellamy
Glenn Hoddle
Paul Merson
Steve McManaman

Those who aren't stupid/bitter/repelling or daft in some serious way are very few. A few are good, a few I don't mind, but the majority are clearly not there on merit. In a way, it's like our squad (ironic isn't it) :D

I could never stand him at Blackburn with all that SAS shit the papers used to go on about. He was only there to make life easier for Shearer.

Well it's all subjective, you like certain players more than others for certain reason and he may have been the type of player you like but, statistically, Sutton is not as good a performer as Lukaku.

Over the course of his career Sutton averaged a goal every 2.8 games (every 2.7 games if you only look at his career to age 25 - the same age as Lukaku now), compared to every 2.2 games for Lukaku (and Lukaku has so far spent the overwhelming majority of his career in the Premier League, whereas Suttons career included 6 seasons at Celtic in the Scottish Premiere League which, we can all agree, is of a lesser standard compared to the Prem).

Lukaku has been playing at international level for Belgium since the under-15's, including 79 senior caps (and 45 goals - a goal every 1.7 games). Sutton represented England from the under-21's on, but only 1 England senior cap, and never scored a goal for England.

To say Sutton is as good as, or better than, Lukaku, is a massive stretch.

He might talk shite but he was hardly a average player. He was joint premier league top scorer in 97/98. Wasn't top quality like Shearer but 'average' is harsh!

Let’s make it easier : Sutton’s best season is far better than anything than Lukaku has managed so far.

They’re both good centre forwards.

Anyone criticising Suttons playing career is daft.

It is however my fault for bringing Lukaku into this thread. I didn’t do it to make him look bad, but use it as an easy way to defend Sutton.
