Defenders just staring at the ball and not pushing back by sprinting and closing the ball down/marking someone. Just pathetic. Waiting for someone else to do it rather than taking it on themselves.

Very selfish group of individuals we have in the squad so no surprise we just fold like a cheap deck chair.
Yeah it's really poor. Gnabry having this much space is not right. Was licha the one that should have been there? I forget. In any case it's terrible.

3 cutbacks on Saturday and we just can't learn. This is pathetic defending and happens every game. ETH thought Mount was a great summer signing.

It’s not on the CBs to do that, they’re the last line of defence in front of the GK. The problem is our midfield.

So many. Last couple of years we are letting them in exaclty the same way. Our midfielders just watch their runners. Zero awareness. Lazy.

Glasgow resident these days.
This rinse and repeat style of self harm is certainly not on the players, it’s down to poor coaching, tactics and methods. We can’t score and concede at least 2 every game. This is going to be an absolute disaster of a season unless he changes it but he doesn’t.
This is all on ETH right now - he has no excuse.

Eriksen looked gassed after like 20 minutes. We just don't have the legs in midfield to get back to cover the space in front of our box. It's that simple. We should have gone for one of the many energetic centre midfielders who moved this summer. C'est la vie.

Absolutely. The problem is Casemiro and Eriksen just don’t cover enough grass. And Mctominay is clueless. Need legs and energy in midfield.

Hope Mainoo, Amrabat and Mount get fit soonish.

The back line was staying in line.
Eriksen didn’t run back to cover gnarbry.

Regulion and Licha with no communication. Should have easily been dealt with.

Tbf as annoying as it is we do have half our defence injured, half our midfield injured and pretty much our entire right wing absent for one reason or another.

This is a good analysis. We condeded almost half of the goals this season so far in similar manner where midfielders are not tracking attackers in the box. You don't need to be a world class DM to do simple stuffs. Simple game awareness and not being lazy should have been enough to avoid these easy goals. Parts of the blame falls on the coaching and ETH too as these mistakes keeps repeating.

have stated this in the match threads...just how lazy the midfielders are defensively to track but just as bad when it comes to leaving them unmarked to ball watch

look at McTominay in the first goal, he is just slowly jogging back. Mount lets the spurs player go, no communication to Casemiro who is unaware and results in a goal. Eriksen was fecking a disgrace defensively.

It's pretty telling that it was one of Casemiro, Bruno, McTominay and Erickson in each of the 8 goals. I might have missed it but I didn't see Mount or Mejbri in any of those situations. Now that Mount is back we could field a midfield made up of 3 out of 4 of Mainoo, Mejbri, Mount and Amrabat for a few games to get some defensive control. We would struggle offensively but the guys who are playing need to do the bare minimum of putting some of effort into defending.

Solskjaer and his soft touch couldn't get them to work hard.

Rangnick and his disappointed teacher shtick couldn't get them to work hard.

Ten Hag and his no nonsense approach can't get them work hard.

Conclusion: we have a bunch of lazy cnuts who may turn it on for a season when they're not in the CL and they have a 25% hit to their wages. Once they get back in, then it's time to kick back and relax.

A supremely dislikable squad of players.

To be fair, it's not an entire squad, we've just got a few obvious ones still hanging on from previous previous regimes dragging it down.

I mean, is it that hard to play a deeper playmaker who recycles the ball and a holding midfielder? Our players run into each other's way enough as it is, we really don't need to attack with 6 players. You'd think with Eriksen, Mainoo, Cas, McT and Gore that would be a pretty obvious thing to do...

Wonder what’s causing this? Can’t be anything to do with the completely mental midfields we’ve been playing all season.

Can we get an outside consultancy in to unravel this mystery?

easy to happen when eriksen can't recover and Bruno just stands there and watches leaving Mainoo to cover the entire top of the box

Aren’t a large proportion of goals in general scored from cut backs these days though, due to the way teams play formation and tactics wise?

Mentioned this in the match thread, but given that it's our obvious Achilles heel, why don't teams just attempt cutbacks all game against us instead of taking dozens of low % shots?

Because if you look back at a lot of the goals Onana has watched sail in, they've been pretty low percentage themselves?
