And different for Fulham, and different for Newcastle. But seriously, can anyone explain why it was different for City? I’m genuinely trying to understand what the rationale behind this is.
Alright smarty, now you’ve got your sarcasm out of the way, let’s deal with a couple of things:And different for Fulham, and different for Newcastle.
Obviously it's a plot intended to support clubs in London who play in white and have an English manager, clubs in Manchester with Spanish managers and clubs in the north-east with fat managers. No one else, though.
Can we play Everton instead?Or you beat us in the most heroic underdog story ever.
ZREEE, ZREEE - only ZREE matches in ZREE daysWe've got Spurs next Wednesday btw.....at this rate Spurs will be playing 7 games in 7 days sometime in May.
The powers above really want Mourinho to prove himself as greatest ever manager by looks of it.
At this point in time we have more grounds to call that off and expect it to be played at later date than tomorrow's game.
Because the Fa cup has different rules to the league. But seriously, can anyone explain why it was different for City? I’m genuinely trying to understand what the rationale behind this is.
None of that nonsense about “it was a new strain, we didn’t know how bad it would be” please.
Are they literally winging it?
It's behind a paywall, have they named the players involved? And just to show that you don't have to be male or a millionaire to be simultaneously entitled and naive - a bunch of women players went over to Dubai for a Christmas holiday. Or, a business trip, as they're now described.
Unfortunately the City and Arsenal players brought covid home with them. Their matches this weekend are now postponed.

Incidentally, another WSL club (Bristol - who, of course, don't have a rich PL team backing them) were made to play their juniors when they had a bunch of players test positive, and others quarantined, a couple of months back. City beat them 8-1.
The press haven't named them. Twitter has named some of them - based on Instagram photos etc. It's behind a paywall, have they named the players involved?
Stupid thing to do.The press haven't named them. Twitter has named some of them - based on Instagram photos etc.
From City, it looks like Lucy Bronze, Alex Greenwood and a couple of others were there. From Arsenal, Katie McCabe (Ireland Captain) and a couple of others. It's thought some United players were there as well - maybe including Katie Zelem.
Presumably a sponsor picked up the tab. It hasn't gone down well with fans, or with other players.
I’m pretty sure there were games in the league that went ahead where there were a significant number of cases for example Sheffield United’s game the same midweek as City’s that got postponed. There were a few others as well that I can’t remember at the moment.Because the Fa cup has different rules to the league.
Simple as that.
That's not the point.People knew there are 3 other games that got postponed in the league other than the City match right? Let's not act like Bluemoon shall we?
You're not looking at the full situation.I’m pretty sure there were games in the league that went ahead where there were a significant number of cases for example Sheffield United’s game the same midweek as City’s that got postponed. How is it problematic? They had a fair number of positive tests as it was and they had to test everyone else - which couldn't be done far enough away from their next kick off time for it not to be a huge risk. That's not the point.
Fulham being forced to postpone the match isn't the same scenario.
Still not sure why so many fail to understand why postponing the City match is problematic ref the implemented rules.
I'm somewhat confused as to your claims....They retested everyone after the match against Newcastle, they received the test results on monday morning and had enough negative tests to play the match against Everton monday evening. How is it problematic? They had a fair number of positive tests as it was and they had to test everyone else - which couldn't be done far enough away from their next kick off time for it not to be a huge risk.
They were playing Everton who had just played 48hours before, with a number of their players injured, and Ancelotti saying he'd rotate heavily.
Not sure why City would want the game off!
Teams in the premier league will have to start fielding U23 players who are Covid negative to fill teams out or there won't be enough fixture space to finish the season.Tweet

2- Villa don't want a postponement apparently. Shrewsbury vs Southampton was called off because of Shrewsbury's outbreak. This seems to be the only one going ahead. https://www.skysports.com/football/...-ahead-after-covid-outbreak-among-villa-squad Theres nothing in the article to back it up bar the headline weirdly actually so who knows.Alright smarty, now you’ve got your sarcasm out of the way, let’s deal with a couple of things:
1- I was interested in knowing what the actual process was; which was emphasised by the use of the words “seriously” and “genuinely” in my post. I’m not sure how, even after that, you still managed to think I was insinuating a conspiracy plot, but that has more to do with your reading skills than my writing skills, so we’ll move on.
2- Yes, different for Newcastle, City and Fulham. Cool. You may have noticed Aston Villa are going to have to play their youth team tomorrow instead of having their game postponed. Why is it different for Aston Villa? Can you actually answer that question?
Probably not smart to vocalise it but people with money were always going to get the vaccine first anyway.I see that dyche has come out and said that footballers should be fast tracked for vaccinations and would save on constantly testing players.
Can't say I agree with him when quite a lot of footballers are blatantly ignoring the covid restrictions despite all the luxuries that being a footballer affords them unlike those that are vulnerable and living in poverty.
Regardless of them ignoring restrictions, there's no evidence to say for certain that taking the vaccine means they can't catch covid. I get what he's trying to say, but I'm not sure there's much logic behind it when looking at the practicalities.I see that dyche has come out and said that footballers should be fast tracked for vaccinations and would save on constantly testing players.

It's irresponsible to not do this, I don't know what they're waiting for.End the league now and award the PL title according to points per game. It's the only safe way to deal with football in this pandemic.

Football locking down will encourage people to take the lockdown more seriously ?This is becoming farcical now. Sack of Nations League/Euro crap and give the game the 2/3 week break it clearly needs. National lockdown should hopefully mean that by that point transmission rates will have dipped significantly.
I want to see football as much as anyone, but these are people who have families and elderly relatives to return to like everyone else. Although the players are likely to be less effected by the virus than most, this is becoming a pretty grim sight - the authorities demanding football continue despite the health crisis we're currently in. It may even encourage people to take the lockdown more seriously.
Or alternatively it suddenly gives already bored and fed up people with even more time to spare which in many cases won't be a good thing. Not to mention there's probably numerous player's that want/need to carry on for their own mental health. This is becoming farcical now. Villa need punishment then. There's absolutely no way their covid measures are stringent enough if one infection can cause 10.Tweet

Should still have enough players available for Spurs on Wednesday then if no one else tests positive but I'm guessing it will get called off regardless.
