Cristiano Ronaldo : The Juventus Chapter | Fin

Quite simply the greatest player I have ever seen. At 35 and still playing like he’s 28? That’s just unheard of ever in the sport.

20 goals in 20 Serie A games so far for Juventus this season, score in last 10 consecutive games, beating previous Juventus record already.

Juventus has no chance of winning CL though, they may even loss Serie A title this season. Their attack has been so poor and they can't even create enough decent chance to beat the likes of Verona. A 35 year old Ronaldo has do do everything on his own.

GOAT

Bizarre paradox - if Messi or Ronaldo did not exist together in the same epoch, I don’t think they would have reached the same heights. That said, if Messi or Ronaldo existed in their own epoch without the other and did reach these heights on their own then nobody would be debating their status in history, they would be considered better than Maradona and Pele. It’s only because of the competition they had and the fact that another person existed on the same plateau as them that people question whether Pele or Maradona were as good.

He always somehow manages to score and save his team no matter how bleak the situation is.

At 35 he is still the best player in the game.

This Juventus team though looks so unconvincing. Ronaldo has been scoring a lot even without proper service from Juventus midfield. Truth is they can’t always get away like that at later stage of season, something has to be done if they want to win trophies.

Hopefully he can save the Manchester world too (knock Pool out of CL).
We are not even playing Juventus.
Anyway, I am not sure Juventus can win the CL. Their midfield and defence are bang average. Even in the Milan game, they needed a controversial penalty to get a draw.

Yeah I know odds are low for that fight in quarter final potentially. PSG your biggest rivals at the moment I think. Although they know how to mess up big leads and you are the expert for the opposite.

35 years old. 35 games. 35 goals.

Those are his stats for this season not counting assists.

We are talking about a guy who at 35 will most likely hit 50 goals. UNREAL. I quite honestly have never seen a player like
Him nor do I think there has ever been a player like him in the history of the sport.

10 consecutive Serie A games scoring. Batistuta’s record is 11... and he gets rested vs Brescia at home on the 11th game

Right as he was getting into a fight for the golden boot too, would have broken so many more records if he didn’t get rested so often for these easier games

My guess is Juventus want him there for Spal as generally they win all of their games at home but struggle at times away. Although Spal are atrocious.

I don't believe for a second that he's rested. Something else is up.

Come on  He’s 35 - don’t forget that Zidane used to rest him once in a while at this stage of the season too.

They should rest him in the next game, before CL league match on Wednesday. If they rest him today, would be bit crazy to play him next game just few days before CL match.

I’d imagine the thinking is that this is an easier match than away at SPAL.

He's 35 he needs a rest from time to time

Ronaldo doesn't rest when he's in the middle of setting new records.

Have you seen SPAL play? Juve and SPAL might be in the same league according to the Italian football system but in terms of ability their not in the same league.

Yes, but I’ve also seen Juventus play this year. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were to struggle in that match.

I'm sure they'll struggle against the team that's 42 points behind them and have scored 18 goals in 24 games. Ronaldo has missed 4 games previously this season on 4 separate occasions and at least three of them were because of an injury. They don't have CL in 3 days so the only way I'm going to believe he's being rested is because he's not fully fit.

Well yeah, that could very well be it. That would constitute being rested though. Your initial post made it sound a bit more sinister!

How so? Like an argument or something?

Nah, that was all. He probably usually plays through some injury but it's something more this time.

1,000 matches for any footballer is amazing but you usually see it for journeymen players in lower leagues where it's easier to still get a game in mid/late 30s.

Giggs was similar .... Played at a high level most of career and passed 1,000 matches all-in. But I think Ronaldo edges him as his levels have been higher/longer.

Messi around the 900 mark but got some years on Ronaldo. Both freaky careers

Delicious cross from cuadrado, an exceptionally hard skill that

His mother had a stroke according to the Portuguese media. She’s still at the hospital

Hope she's okay, I think she's fundamental to his life, specially seeing as his father went away too soon.
