Spanish radio saying that Cristiano has asked Real Madrid for a pay increase. He wants to be paid more than both Neymar or Messi. Madrid, having just given him a new contract in November, has refused.

Interesting if true, lets see how this soap opera ends. What is clear for me is that star players are demanding an ever increasing slice of the pie in the big football business.

Yeah, the annual "Ronaldo wants to leave" fuss usually ends with him staying and a pay increase.

Go to Barca apparently they are willing and able..
Even if it's the unlikeliest transfer in the world of football, it would be pretty incredible to see him and Messi in the same side.

Do Madrid even need him anymore? Assuming Bale can keep his fitness up they can probably get away flogging him to somewhere like PSG for another ridiculous fee and pick up Mbappe in the near future.

As good as Madrid were last season they will still completely reliant on his goals at crucial stages and have been since he joined them.

Well maybe thats Zidane's next project - building a Madrid side no longer reliant on him. They already have a frightening squad so it wouldn't be as bad replacing an ageing Ronaldo as it would have been historically, not if they invest in exciting younger talents like Mbappe or Dembele who would slot in nicely to their already world class ensemble.

Imagine if Messi talked to him and said the same thing he allegedly said Neymar to stay, "What do you want? A Ballon d'Or? I'll make you win the Ballon d'Or"

I can't imagine if Ronaldo would he happy or royally pissed

Agreed. Ronaldo got 42 goals last season, next highest was Morata on 20, and he's gone.

Real's succession planning looks excellent in most areas, but Ronaldo is still going to be hard to replace.
