Been a while since we did one of these.

Who makes your top 10?

1. Messi
2. Neymar
3. Lewandowski
4. Mbappe
5. Ronaldo
6. Haaland
7. Kane
8. De Bruyne
9. Kimmich
10. Benzema

Didn't know who to put 10th. Feel like I might be missing someone obvious too.

For me Messi, Ronaldo and Lewa should be the top3, in any order, I don't care. They're still the only players that can score heavily and consistently. So, I guess there's 7 more left:

4. Ruben Dias
5. Haaland
6. KDB (even though he seems to be fading)
7. Kimmich
8. VVD
9. Neymar
10. Benzema/Mbappe

Top 10 attackers?
Are there any defenders that even stand out?

Chiellini-Bonucci were excellent at the Euros, but they weren't great for Juventus in Serie A or the CL.

Dias had a poor Euros and it's only this season where he's been top drawer for a top side. Maguire-Shaw haven't excelled enough in the CL. Van Dijk missed all of last season essentially. Ramos is past his best.

I suppose you could argue for Varane/Marquinhos, but I wouldn't put either in a top 10 list.

I’d say Haaland has shown he can score heavily and consistently?

10. Dias

Probably missed out on someone great.

Benzema should probably be above Kane, Bruno and Dias, now that I think of it (but am clearly too lazy).

Messi and Lewandowski probably top 2.

Next tier:
Neymar, Haaland, Mbappe

Third tier:
Salah, Kane, Van Dijk*, De Bruyne, Ronaldo

Honorable mentions to De Jong, Lukaku, Kante, Dias, Alison, Kimmich.

*assuming he gets back to his best

This is where the bias against defenders is clear. Kane and Mbappe had a horrible Euros as well but their still part of everyone's top 10, and people would be surprised if they aren't. Why is it then that Dias shouldn't be there if he only had a bad Euros but had an excellent season?

You can argue that he's only had one great season, but then VvD became part of everyone's top 10 after one great season at Liverpool as well.

I would maybe wait 3-4 months after so many big transfers happened this summer. But right now it's Messi or Lewandowski.

It seems that people are more objective than you thought…

Shaw and Maguire are both Top 5 in the world in their positions, I’m adamant about that but that doesn’t mean they are in the 10 BPITW.

So is there a bias against defenders or not, considering VVD is also a defender.

Kane was easily the best player in the league, it's a shame he didn't win the award but that award has been a joke for some time.

Any list that doesn't contain Bendtner can't be taken seriously imo.

Cavani doesn't get enough respect on here. Should be in everyone's lists.

In no particular order, based on this year I would go with: Messi, Lewa, Neymar, Haaland, Mbappe, Ronaldo, De Bruyne, Jorginho, Kane and Kante.

Van Dijk is/was much better than Dias in my opinion, Man City didn’t concede an exceptionally low number of goals last season or anything and used possession as part of their tactic to protect the defence. Even in an eye test, Van Dijk at his best is quicker and a better long range passer, while being as good at all the traits that Dias is known for.

The lack of respect shown to the champions of Europe is staggering.
You're more than welcome to make a list and respect them yourself  :D

I am surprised I didn't see more people put Kante with the incredible ending he had to the season.

I got a list and this the order that the list is in. It goes Messi, KDB, Kane and Mbappe, Lewa from Bayern, Ronaldo Haaland Neymar and then me.
You arranged the names almost perfectly to go with the way the sound of that line goes.
