I'm not sure if he's completely good enough to be first choice for us but when he played under Ole he did just as well as DDG did and was playing more and more by the end so you can understand him resigning and giving it a go for another season

He's at an age when he has to play now though and he's certainly better than one of those goalies that has a career as second choice, he'll find a club and no doubt do very well

There's also the England situation. Pickford is nothing special and that's certainly a position up for grabs, he could very well start the World Cup if his form is good over the next few months
Pickford will be England goalkeeper at the World Cup barring injury.

Pickford will be England goalkeeper at the next Euros barring injury.

Because Henderson doesn’t play.

Henderson is better than Pickford or at the very least has the ability to be at the same level as Pickford to compete with him.

But he could have played better and dispossessed De Gea. I'm not sure what he could feel aggrieved about. He signed a long term contract and was deemed not 1st choice. It's up to him to play well enough to have a starting spot. He might be frustrated at himself, but what's he harboring a grudge at the team about?
How could he have played better if he almost never played?

I included the next euros. Henderson will have at least the next year playing regularly, and he still won’t usurp Pickford.

Henderson isn’t better than Pickford, and I see very to suggest he ever will be. I see very little chance that he even gets in front of Aaron Ramsdale either (who to be fair does have a chance of putting big pressure on Pickford for the role) and Henderson will remain third choice at best.

The biggest problem with Henderson is that he’s just not very good. Certainly not good enough for a top team anyway. He also seems to have the ego the size of a planet which really doesn’t help.

He’s your typical mouthy british keeper in the same vein as Pickford & Ramsdale but without the shot stopping ability of those two. His best quality seems to be that he can kick the ball really far & shouts a lot. Mid to lower PL teams are his level. He’s never going to be a top keeper, just doesn’t have the ability.

Absolutely not. We should never reward players that are publicly attacking the club like that.
We need to hope he does well at Forrest and then sell him to the highest bidder and get a proper replacement for De Gea.
It was hardly an attack, he gave an honest opnion. And really all he said was that he was given assurances and they weren't followed up on. He has every right to be annoyed by that, there's very few people that wouldn't be. Maybe he could have saved it all up for 20 years and put it in a book or sat around like many others and just rake in his 100k a week and do nowt.

He's not like that, he doesn't want to sit on the bench, he's always wanted to play football and be the no.1, somenthing he's done since he was 19. He has gone and played in the National League North, League 1 & 2, the Championship and the PL and has done very well in each and every one of them.

All of it with the view of eventually being the no.1 at Utd, he got his chance, took it very well. But, unfortunately for him when he came back, DDG was making saves and Ole was struggling to hang onto his job. He stuck to his reliables, and wrongly trusted the players who got him into the mess to get him out.

Like it or not, he's an above average all round PL keeper and when he came in he was so much better for the team as a whole than DDG has been for years. To me that says more about the best paid keeper in the world than it does about Henderson.

And how many games was he available under Ole and not playing? Do you actually know and do you care to check or doesn't that fit your narrative?
Maybe actually reading what I said didn't fit your own prematurely conceived notions. Posted that it was squad mismanagement to keep him around last season and give him assurances. How is this a rebuttal to the belief we should have let him leave last season?

Ole kept him because at a time he performed better than De Gea. He actually played, then he got covid. When he was fit again, Ole was gone.

Yet you blame the mismanagement on Ole. Thats a false narrative

So you're here telling me he was going to be made United Number 1 if Ole hadn't been sacked. That is pure bs and a bold faced lie. Stop it. There's no universe where Henderson displaces De Gea as United number 1. Telling him so was always a stupid assurance to give on management's part.

He seems really really bitter about United. Shame, but probably best if both sides moved on
Not least because he's a bang average keeper with no obvious elite-level strengths and crisp packets for hands.

He's Jordan Pickford without the reflexes. He can feck off.

I like him as a keeper, think he's pretty good. Unsure whether good enough for United, but don't understand the negativity towards his ability. His behaviour is a completely different topic though. Hoped we would make it here, but he properly burned that bridge

And despite all these supposed weaknesses he was still a considerable upgrade on De Gea. Imagine how much difference signing a top goalkeeper would make.

He just doesn't have the shot stopping ability to be a top level keeper, and doesn't have any other strengths that would come close to making up for that. I watched quite a bit of him while he was on his mythical loan at Sheffield United (I think I watched all his games after the restart), and here's what I saw:

The Salah one wasn't too far from his norm. He just isn't that good at keeping the ball out of the net.

Henderson just isn’t good enough, don’t see the hype around this guy at all. Love the fact he has incredible self belief and confidence in himself, it’s needed as an English player in the PL. I think there’s a few mistakes in him per season, more than the average keeper and his shot stopping ability isn’t the greatest either.

He was made number 1 for some time, but De Gea came back. De Gea was really out of form and lost his place and rightfully lost it. Luckily he came back and didn't transfer out.

We all love United
Isn’t he a United supporter as well as a player? The bitterness in him towards United seem rather weird. I’m glad he’s now away from the club and the dressing room and Forest are now paying his wages instead

It made sense to keep him around last season with covid. It’s just his rotten luck that he himself got covid when he was probably wresting that #1 spot from de Gea.

Sounds like he's trying to get sold to me. Ridiculous level of entitlement for someone who hasn't even played a season in a top league.

Glad he's gone.

Relegation level goalkeeper with Champions League winner ego. Good riddance, hope it's for good.

Its not. We brought him back from loan only to muck him about for 2 seasons (when he stated clearly he wanted to play as a priority)
Quite obviously his career is more important to him and rightly so, and if its true Ole sold him a pack of lies (like it seems he did to other players too) why would he not be angry about it?

Hopefully Nottingham Forest buys him at the end of his loan spell. Is there an option to buy?

If not, he’ll be sold to some low to mid-level Prem team, because that’s his potential. To have this kind of attitude and make these public statements is hilarious given his actual ability. Even if he was a top keeper it would be bizarre and unprofessional.

All poor, but not one of them comes close to this.

And he has no right. He is a whiny cnut who believes everything should be handed to him.
He got covid and didn't manage to get his place back afterwards.
Only one he can thank is himself.

Toxic posters in here just go all in, feckin cesspit of bile and spite spewed by a fair selection of posters. Poor comments from him, but I’d still say he’s a better fit for how we play this season than Dave is.

Pickford, Pope, Ramsdale and Johnstone are all keepers who’ll be ahead of him for the foreseeable future. Southgate will play Pickford even if he loses a leg.

What’s this based on? It can’t be anything he’s ever done on a football pitch
He was one of the best keepers in the league for Sheffield Utd. Literally outperformed Ramsdale I’m every way when Ramsdale came in to replace him at Sheffield Utd the season after. Pickford is better than Ramsdale but he’s really not great. Massively error prone, but to his credit he’s good for England.

Henderson was also far better than De Gea for Utd the season before last. The defence looked much more solid which was backed up again in every statistical metric. He’s just a good keeper that’s underrated. Don’t be surprised when he has a great season at forest this campaign.

Why wouldn't he want Utd to lose when he'd be playing for the other team?

How does he want everything handed to him?

He wants to play football, he just moved to play football because wants to be a no.1. He's spent time across 5 leagues in England to progress and develop. To make sure he got his chance at Utd. He got his chance and did better than the highest paid keeper in the world has done for years. Was given a new 100k a week deal and assurances by the club and a manager who never followed up on them.

He has every right to be annoyed by how that played out. He maybe shouldn't be voicing his grievances so publicly. But, I find his honesty refreshing.

Sheffield United in their entirety collapsed when fans were no longer at the ground, Henderson himself was absolutely abysmal for them in those conditions.

Henderson will have an average mid table season because that’s how good he is. Then when him and Pickford are both for sale next year we’ll be bemoaning that we’re struggling to offload him while Pickford is getting ready to start the season with Newcastle, as he’s a superior keeper.

Henderson is comfortably a level below Pickford and Ramsdale, and he isn’t close to them at all.

That didn’t even happen for Shef Utd. He was literally their play of the season. I don’t get how you can think Ramsdale is better when he was worse for the same team just one year apart.
