YouTube now has so-called Shorts. (I don't know how new this really is, but I only noticed it this month.) It seems I can't embed those links here though. For example:

https://youtube.com/shorts/S5iqPF09xk0

This will only show up as a link, and if I try to embed it through the Media option, it says that this sort of link isn't supported. Is there a way to fix that?

It's a bit of a hassle, but if you remove "shorts/" and replace it with "watch?v=", then it will work.

Like this:

Great, thanks! :) I tried removing 'shorts' but forgot that YouTube video IDs don't follow straight after the home URL.
I never claimed I was up to date on anything. :wenger:

  • Right click on the video.
  • You should see this menu...

  • Select “Copy video URL”.
  • Paste this URL in the insert media box, as usual.

Can't seem to get that menu on my phone app. Sorry!

Hmm, okay. Have you tried replacing “shorts” with “watch”, prior to copy + pasting the URL? That should do the trick, I think.

Don't need the watch part, just replace shorts with v. It's a much better way of watching them too, so ideally any Shorts embedding would just turn them into regular youtube embeds.
