We've had some great individual performances and some decent moments but we've just looked totally unorganised for most of the series.

You can tell Australia have better prepared for this series. We were so focused on the World Cup, it's almost like we've sleepwalked into this.

The only plan we've had that has worked was Broad to Warner.
I think the world cup stuff is overplayed. England been like this for a long time now.

A random question... I've been watching these matches on a site with decent rivers, but every single ad is about money transfers. What's that all about?
I’ve always assumed there’s a big viewership from India/Pakistan etc who would use those services sending money back home.

Could Lyon get any worse his last 2 wickets have cost 300 runs  and both of them came from Root and Archer trying to smash him out of the park

I assume because you're watching a US TV channel and what Joe said about most of its cricket viewers having family in South Asia.

Willow TV? All their ads are about either money transfers or drugs. Sky were pretty bad too under the World Cup when Ind/Pak were playing with money transfers and Pepe chicken etc.

That's the one. Seems like extremely focused targeting there :D
Just googled.

From the first paragraph of its wiki...
WILLOW is an American pay television sports channel which is completely devoted to airing overseas cricket events, including live and recorded matches and other cricket-related programming in English, with the majority of its advertising targeted towards the Indian subcontinent diaspora in North America
That is impressively specialised!

Very disappointed by Archers batting in this series so far. He’s meant to be so much better than he has delivered so far. Quickly needs improve this part of his game.

England test team similar to current Manchester United. It has no identity or philosophy, and so the selected players end up being a hotch potch of styles, strengths and personality.

Unlike the ODI aside, which is carefully calibrated against a clearly articulated vision and purpose.

301 all out.

Very poor from the middle order.

Aussie will bat til 12pm tomorrow and declare with 400 lead and 5+ hours to bowl England out in 4th innings. Should be enough.

Thatl be too long i think. Need to just go hell for leather here for 50 odd overs and give themselves the whole day to bowl england out i think

Would be more fun to watch!
I hate captains that go for a "we can't lose this game" target instead of thinking about winning.

If you give the other team batting last a bit of hope as well, you might get them playing at balls they'd leave if they are batting time for a draw.

I know warner was involved in the whole cheating thing, but he seems like he'd be great crack.

Australia are in a tough position here. How many runs do you need? How much time do they need to bowl England out?

Especially after the last test match, it's a big conundrum for Paine

When people said Roy could be England's Warner I'm not quite sure this is what they had in mind, buy boy were they right.

Hour tonight and the whole day tomorrow you'd think. Think England did just about enough with the bat in the first dig, if you can keep Australia batting into tomorrow that's gotta be the plan. You'd think Australia would want at least 350+ given what happened at Headingley.

Broad is in the groove. Brilliant start.

Knock over Smith quickly and who knows what can happen.

I am struggling to think of a worst series from both teams openers.
England Vs India last summer
England Vs South Africa summer before
England Vs Pakistan was pretty bad too

Simple fact is opening the batting in England is hard, hard work.

He is basically the series. Else the teams are almost identical in talent and options.
I agree. But also, how many behind would we be if we didn’t have spinners bowling no balls and dropping multiple catches. This ones on us.

Opening in English conditions is tough, this is a good Australian attack, but the one specialist opener England picked, has done well this series averaging over 50.

Roy and Denly aren’t anyway near opening batsmen, not even at county level.

With the quicks getting so much reward here, a lead of over 300 will be harder to peg back than at Edgbaston.
I always felt we had a chance with the time as well.
